    Video Description:
Does your dashboard feel cluttered because you're trying to communicate too much supporting information to your user? Making sure you cover everything your user needs to know can leave your output feeling more like an essay than a data-driven dashboard.
Info buttons are a staple of Tableau dashboards. They allow you to pack so much additional information to a dashboard without cluttering the view for users.
Some of my favorite elements to include in an info button are:
    •Dashboard Descriptions
    •Instructions
    •Data Definitions
    •Data Refresh Dates
    •Referencing Data Sources
    •Contact Info
So next the question is, how do you add an info button to a Tableau dashboard?
You could use the "Image" object, but you are restricted to a character limit and have no formatting options.
Instead, you should use a shape in a worksheet to create an info button! This gives you the most flexibility and control to document what you need for your users.
Check out this video to learn best practices for creating an info button for a Tableau dashboard.

Thank you so much for this video. It helped me put together the last details of my final project for a data analysis BootCamp! I plan on spending more time learning Tableau on my own and through another education source. I was even able to load in my own icons, which will come in handy down the line! Cheers!

    Hi
How to I make the info icon bold on hover?

Hey! I'm not sure if that's possible out of the box. You might be able to set up a set action which would allow the object to increase in size when hovered over but I've never tried it!

There's gotta be an easier way. :(
Not worth the effort to create multiple of these for a single dashboard to explain metrics.

Once you create one, you can duplicate it and just change the tooltips. Kind of annoying but we like this method better than dashboard image objects since the tooltip in those objects restricts you to 80 characters and doesn't offer custom formatting.
