Once again, a really cool demo! I want one for late night night practice! You guys have access to some really great gear! Please keep the demos coming! We all appreciate them! Really glad I found your channel!
Excellent review, thanks! I just ordered the stereo set from Sweetwater. Will use them as combination computer speakers and mini bass amp specifically to play along with bass tutorials. I think it will be as close to perfect as is possible right now.
Nice review. Great for a small practice amp. Still waiting for Blackstar to produce full size bass gigging amps, though. Their guitar amps are fantastic!
+Robert Gee A full-size bass rig would be great. For a little 3-watt, 3" amp, this thing has some pretty good tones. Putting a mic on it was a funny sight, though. Mostly due to the mic being the same size as the speaker.
You're in luck now. The Blackstar UNITY Pro bass amplifiers should be hitting the streets this month. 30W all the way to 500W with an active 250W cabinet also. They look and sound pretty sweet. Lots of features also.
I would like to recommend Joyo MA 10B, rather than this one, as the one who had both of them. Joyo sounds better unless you prefer distorted noise on your bass.
So, I'm interested in the bass you were holding under tour arm when you were talking. It looks like an Epiphone nonreverse thunderbird bass. I have one and there is only one professional demo from a German music store demoing an amp. Can you demo that bass even if just to highlight an amp?
I play a 5-string and wonder how this amp with its "SUB' adjustment would handle the lower frequency of a 5th string? Amp reviews seldom consider how the amp performs at the lower frequencies for a 5 or 7-string. '
I think something has to control more than one frequency band to really be an EQ. I guess a parametric EQ technically only has one band as well, but the hole point is that you can move that one band around to cover different frequency ranges. It's weird to see something with just a mid control. Good review though.
I already have the standard Fly 3 & extension cab (guitar player). I noticed that the ext cab for bass is same (says Blackstar) except for color of grill, which makes me wonder if regular Fly 3 would be safe to use for bass too (I have a pandora box that has bass effects & all that I could put ahead, as eq etc different on std fly from bass fly). Any one help me out? Thanks
Laurance Emory I wouldnt do it bass amps are meant to handle the lower frequencies from.the bass a bass in a guitar amp will destroy your amp don't do it
I will try it low volume, but hope you get my point that if ext cab same for both regular and bass, (and speaker looks the same) perhaps only diff is amp features (comp, etc). Another Q would have to do regarding using Fly 3 as computer speaker, where it has to reproduce bass notes on mp3's and all that.... hmmm
this is what blackstar told me: "The FLY 103 extension cabinet and the FLY BASS 103 are exactly the same in terms of speaker and internal configuration. The only difference between the FLY 103 and FLY BASS 103 is the aesthetic element - FLY 103 being in line with the regular FLY 3, and not the grey grille featured on the FLY BASS. Please note; the FLY BASS 103 cabinet is only available as part of the FLY BASS Pack, and is not sold separately."
11 months late but I would reccomend the Roland Bass Cube RX. seen being performed with here: ua-cam.com/video/HJq-6y2IYEQ/v-deo.html Has a wattage of 2.5 + 2.5w Im using this thing in real life and it rumbles the life around you. Like there is some hefty Low end on those 4 tiny 10cm speakers and it really surprises you with how loud it can get. I could use this for Pub gigs tbh. even more perfect for Busking. comes with an integrated rhythm box, tuner, EQ controls, compressor button, various tone presets and effects built in such as Octave, Flanger, Chorus, T-wah, Reverb and Delay. Uses the same batteries as the Blackstar here which is 6 AA Batteries and has a total run time of 11 hours of continuous use battery life. the life of which shortens with how much you stack effects whilst using it. You can tell how low on battery it is if the sound starts distorting. Downside. its near Quadruple the price of the Blackstar 3 Bass. Theres always the option to daisy chain the Blackstar Amps. but its up to you!
I don't want to shit on them but you can get a better sound with a lm386 2$ amp + a bigger cabinet. That farty muddy sound is all due to the size of the cab.
A few downfalls : no integrated rhythm box, and 3w is really too low. There are bluetooth speakers out there with loads more power and deep bass for similar size. Useless as far as I'm concerned.

Sure it sounds great when you mic the amp. No offence but this is not demonstrating it"s natural volume. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of this video. I already have 25 watt and 200 watt amplifiers. Thanks for the heads up on the features! .
> Sure it sounds great when you mic the amp. If you don't mic the amp, it sounds a lot worse than it does when you hear it in person. Even now, this hardly sounds "great" -- it's crackly and buzzy, as you'd expect when such a small speaker tries to handle low end. They're doing the right thing by trying to record it with as little ambient noise and as much note definition as possible, so that it doesn't sound worse than it actually is.
as you perfectly showed, the ideal box for recording great variations of bass tones into a daw without disturbing anybody.

Hello,Does this sound good as a computer speaker?
Linn Spencer I was thinking of doing the same. How have they worked out as computer speakers?
Finally a good review of this thing
Great review. Looking for something to play in my spare room. This should fit the bill and it wont break the bank.
I'd like to hear billy Sheehan play though this thing, it would fit his tone well.

Looking for a practice bass amp for home. Sold. Even thinking of getting the stereo version micing it up for my small venue open mic.
great tones out of that little amp! Great review as always
is the bass line at 5:10 from a song or was that something you came up with yourself? I like the way it sounds and would like to learn it
I would like to recommend Joyo MA 10B, rather than this one, as the one who had both of them. Joyo sounds better unless you prefer distorted noise on your bass.
Joyo is much bigger, not so compact .

Yes, that's exactly what it is. We've used it in quite a few videos but we'll do something more elaborate on it.
I play a 5-string and wonder how this amp with its "SUB' adjustment would handle the lower frequency of a 5th string? Amp reviews seldom consider how the amp performs at the lower frequencies for a 5 or 7-string. '
How is one supposed to get an accurate idea of how loud it sounds with you mic-ing it up?
very impressed by the little amp and the player
I'm looking to pick up for my son, who plays both electric and bass... can I get away with the combo unit?
As always,cool review
Any idea with the catalinbread sft? I couldn't find a good review about it,seems like an interesting pedal.
That looks awesome! We'll try to get one.
Wonder what a guitar sounds like with this amp?
There’s a Fly 3 model just for guitar.
i use it as a guitar amp love it amazing tone love it.
@@bradsuctliffe8535 the vibrations are different i noticed with a guitar the sound cutting off.
Did you experiment with mic positioning to capture the best part of the speaker cone? :D
You would need a dial indicator stand to move it that little lol
Una consulta este mini amplificador se puede usar con un peda, multiefecto? Saludos
Can it be used with batteries?

Prob just a High and Low pass filter in 1 like the tone control on a small radio.
Nice review!
Does it get a clean sound?
does this work with 5 string or lower tuning? effects pedals?
Thank you! good demo
What does the speaker sound like by itself without the mike? Doesn't that change what the speaker really sounds like?
Would this amp be loud enough to jam with an acoustic guitar? In another words is it a better alternative than an acoustic bass?
I think anything helps with an acoustic bass :P
Please make a review of the Fulltone GT-500 on bass
Would this amp, just the single model not the pair, be adequate for playing along with two or three acoustic guitars?
Yes

Noooo you'll blow it up
Can it used for a acoustic bass??
Hi, would this be good for playing outside in front of people or jamming with friends?
No - too small , maybe if you were jamming with an acoustic guitar
Not even with the externtion cabinet?

how loud it is sound? if I want to play my bass through this amp with a cajon and a acoustic guitar the volume is enough? thanks
if the volume is anything like there guitar counterpart than you will be fine. i speak from personal experience.
hepcat 87 So could I play with an electric guitar while busking?
Does the video mention anything about batteries on the amp?
It takes 6aa batteries
Someone knows if this amp works well or decently on an electric drum?
Probably not. I've heard a few complaints. Let me know if you tried it though
Dope!
OMG wassup slappers
Epico
@@milo5337 epico
Would like to know how to volume of this amp would work out for a bass in a small school marching band?
Na no way will be drowned out by most accompanyments
Dude the questions on this video are so stupid.
You're shouting. Reading, and shouting what you're reading.
That's sweet.

it doesnt soun clean i can hear a lot of distortion saturated so bad
It's a small bass amp, tou can't have a high volume and a clean sound at the same time
Has anyone tried plugging a guitar into this?
Lol
daaang!

@DanielCochrane -- Maybe this might help; ua-cam.com/video/90VpgoyPwXI/v-deo.html
please do a video with the boss waza craft blues driver on bass!!!!!!
We can do that.
Youd probably get more low end if you move your mic back
Returning mine sounds like garbage unless I’m doing something wrong
cool
Use a pick as well
The mic is too close to the speaker.
Thanks, now I know I don't want it.
買お
sounds very distorted..
0:40
Anyone have trouble with theirs farting out all the time?
Why is almost every bass amp demo played with a pick and overdriven bass guitar? The worst possible bass seting imo.
No thank you. Pull the fkg mic off then let’s hear it. I hear distortion
For me, the only downside to this amp is that it sucks ass.
it is a ture turd, it od instanlty
Clearly quite farty unfortunately.
Nope, not my cup of tea. Maybe it's my headphones but I really don't like what I'm hearing. The playing is fantastic, I just mean tonally.
its a bass not a guitar loose the distortion allredy
boi, what are you on about
You definitely don't know a thing about bass
Tell it to Lemmy! Ha!
Personally I agree, but a lot of contemporary music has distorted bass. To each his own.
Haha try to tell that Lemmy or Cliff
Great bass playing...not
