A shame that The Day Before didn't make the cut, because it was one of the worst rated games on Steam, born from the lies of the developer who claimed it would be an Open World MMO set in a post apocalyptic city after a terrible virus destroyed it. The game was riddled with issues, glitches, and false advertising, with the game not actually being an Open World game but a Tarkov clone (a.k.a Extraction shooter), barely any zombies to shoot, no not being able to jump, not being able to vault, bugs that would make The Lord of the Rings: Gollum speachless, and more. It got so bad, that it ended up forcing the studio that develop it to shut down, and announcing that the game's servers are reaching EOS (End of Support) in Janurary 22nd 2024. It was that bad!
Yeah but not getting on the list because it was So bad it didn't even get enough reviews kinda tells you that it was actually too bad to even be on the list.
😄👍
The Day Before doesn't even deserve to be called a video game. It was a asset flip scam that took people's money & despite many, many people getting refunds. They still made off with enough to run and hide under another obscure game studio.. damn
Asset flips aren’t games.
Period.
@@joshuaDstarks you could make a game out of figuring out where the assets came from.... It's not a "great" game but it's something.
😅👍
@@deathsnitemaresinfullust2269 "Wroenix Phight - Ate Accorney - And the Great Asset Flip"
Don't you dare copyrighting MY Wroenix Phight character! That's a total unique name and idea I came up with!
If you try he will point his Thumb at you and yell "ATTENTION!"
OH YEAH! HERE WE GO!! DISHONORABLE MENTIONS TIME!!!
Flashback 2
Forspoken
Kingpin Reloaded
Redfall
Skull Island: Rise of Kong
The Day Before
The Walking Dead: Destinies
Gangs of Sherwood
Avatar: Quest for Balance
Clive 'N' Wrench
COD: Modern Warfare III
Everybody 1-2 Switch
Wanted: Dead
Forspoken is Chrono Trigger compared to all these other bad games.
Forspoken and Redfall were on their « most disappointing games of 2023 » list.
Forspoken and Redfall are not the worst games, they only qualified for being disappointing games.
Now imagine if we removed the rule just for The Walking Dead: Destinies, Skulk Island: Rise of Kong, and The Day Before. Peter eould have mentioned the faults of thr games along with mentioning how Skull Island was made in about a year, and how The Day Before was basicallynone big asset flip scam.
THE DAY BEFORE escaping the list on a technicality is such a shame.
Imagine if they excluded the rule just for Skull Island: Rise of Kong, and The Day Before.
@@ChaseMC215 Then gollum would be number 5, as stray souls, the walking dead destinies, skull and island rise of kong, and the day before all got lower reviews.
If I was them I would have actually put the rules to the side and still given it Worst GOTY because The Day Before truly is the absolute worst thing to release this year
Got to agree on one point, That Hellboy game Looks like it's straight from the comic, too bad about the gameplay
Please tell me one of the Garten of Banban games is included here.
What’s the stock music playing here on the bulk of these TTJ reviews? There’s something soothing when listening to the team explain (in hilarious fashion) how good/bad these games were. Happy New Year, btw!
At least one of the teams (I think Peter's) is "Puppy Love - Instrumental Full HD", can be found here on YT. Other two I haven't figured out yet.
All the games I thought would be here weren't lol. The Walking Dead, The Day Before, Redfall, Skull Island ... pretty interesting!
Well they mentioned why
Glad you brought up the terrible UI changes Metacritic have made to their website. It’s a pain in the ass to explore now.
I knew what #1 was gonna be, and I still watched the whole thing.
I did enjoy the Hellboys cell shaded graphics, but other than that the gameplay was mediocre at best
And a shame too, because this was released years after Hellboy: The Science of Evil. Grabted it was based apon the universe established in the Guillermo del Toro Hellboy films and it saw a vocal return of Ron Perlman as the big guy himself, but this is a game based on the Dark Horse Comics series, you would think it would be awesome, but instead, like you said, the gameplay wss mediocre at best.
Oh well, at least it's better than Hellboy: Dogs of the Night (or Asylum Seeker if you want to get all US PS1 release about it)
9:02
vanilla ice is such a hilariously obvious sign that you dont care about if people like them, just that people recognize them.
I am glad that one certain overhyped and underdelivered game wasn't included here even if it would deserve it, but it got covered so much at this point that not including it is actually more damaging and that is better than giving them more sales. And no i won't even give it a respect enough to name it, people can take a guess.
As a German it makes me really happy to hear you mention Game Two and their almost documentary about Gollum. Bittersweet because fantastic video but absolutely horrible topic.
Thanks for telling us what 10 games to avoid.
Okay Hellboy Web of Wyrd isn't nearly as bad as you're making it out to be. Sure it's not a perfect game by any means, but there is 'some' fun to be had with it, and it's definitely not as bad as the first few games you mentioned before it. Honestly I don't think it even deserves to be on this list, and I'd say it's better to just leave it alone. Oh and not to mention the fact that you kept saying "Wyrd" wrong multiple times, that's the only thing more cringy than your purposely bad jokes... Maybe it's just me, but it feels kinda like Hellboy Web of Wyrd was only put on this list because TripleJump was desperately looking for games to include on this list just to fill the blanks so it adds up to 10, cause there really weren't that many bad games this year. Because of that, I'm honestly surprised that Redfall and Skull Island: Rise of Kong weren't included on this list, considering they're objectively FAR worse than Web of Wyrd and the vast majority of other games on this list! Redfall is just barely almost as bad as Gollum, and Rise of Kong is arguably even worse than Gollum.
This list, like most of TripleJump content, is a dump of Metacritic scores with a little commentary. Web of Wyrd being so high on the list is a result of critical panning. For the record I also thought it was fine and doesn't deserve to be mentioned
You guys are so much funnier than these corny ass scripts haha
For real, it’s so tired and cheesy
Nacon published (among many other titles) both Gollum AND Robocop: Rogue City. The duality of publishers.
OTOH, what really sucks is that the DEVELOPMENT side of Daedelic was shut down (who before Gollum were known for acclaimed point-and-click adventures like Edna & Harvey and Deponia) - they're still publishing games, but that part of their Wikipedia looks like a huge clusterfuck.
I've always been tempted to play the Deponia games
Crime Boss Rockay City is a game I’m really looking forward to playing when it’s below £10.
Just so I can say I was there.
Not anywhere near as bad as Ride To Hell Retribution
Have you guys ever considered a new segment about crappy indie games on Steam. Maybe a "Worst Indie Games Ever". And trust me, you'd have content for decades to come lol. Maybe even do three games in an episode.
At that point you're just shitting on someone's dreams/passion. There's not a lot to say when the person in question is just trying their best with limited resources
Great to hear about so many games that nobody else covered! You guys tend to impress.
Gargoyles immediately looked like it was made in a weekend and on a dare lol fucking awful, cheap look to it, should've been packaged with 100 other games
Surprised The Walking Dead Destinies didn't make the list.
I thought Crime Boss was pretty fun actually.
It is fun. The problem apparently, is people were expecting a new Payday-Like with an "all-star" voice cast, and only got a decent Payday sort of game, with nothing "new" and pretty phoned in voice acting. But I think it's fine as is. I just hope it comes to Steam when the 6 month or 1 year exclusivity deal is up.
cope
@@ehcor Copenhagen? Yeah, I've been there.
A) Happy New Year also B) showing that Cher clip is demonetising incoming lol
#06 looks great, but so do Sword of Storms and Blood & Iron. And they're much more worth your time and investment.
honestly, a 34% feels too generous for games like gollum and the greyhill incident, also at least mention that when it was avaible, the day before had a whopping 15%, making it one of the lowest rated games of that site.
Never mind, almost all these reviews that feels too generous.
Happy New Year!
One thing with the Hellboy game you forgot to mention was the repetitive gameplay.
Games that get 50% (average) cannot be considered "worst of the year"
I mean... if there are no lower scores then yes they can.
🤣🤣🤣 ikr?
There are lots of games with worse ratings. But it also depends what the criteria is. Are Indie games on the list? There are some decent indie studios that put out awful games this all the time. @@OrgaNik_Music
Gollum got a 40% score from ign trust me ratings don’t mean shit anymore
@@scott8448 Lmao, they never have.
Triple Jump is the Simon Cowell of video games. 😊
And you’re the Paula Abdul having peaked years ago and still a flop 🎉
Happy new year!
Nah I would say Game Mill was the worst Video Game Developer of the Year. Unfortunately none of thier games made the list. The Walking Dead: Destinies, Skull Island Rise of Kong, Avatar Quest for Balance.
You know, whenever I see "Baldur's Gate III" making it rightfully so to the number 1 Spot of a "Top 2023 games" list, in my head the triumphale fanfare from the "Lord of The Rings Main Theme" plays in my head. That legendary: DAAA DA DA DA DAAAA, DA DA DA, DADADA, DAAAAAAAA DAAAAAAAA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Whenever I see "Gollum" making it as equally rightfully to the number 1 spot of a "Worst games of 2023" list, my head just plays "Resident Evil 1 OST: Basement - Dual Shock Edition". You can google that yourself, thank you.
Did Microsoft pay you guy off to have a number of these games flagged as "PS5" when they were released across multiple formats?
Flashback 2 got a 36 percent got reviewed by 18 critics
Web of Wyrd did a fantastic job of translating Hellboy creator Mike Mignola’s art style into a 3D medium, definitely better than any other video games in the franchise. But my god, it is one of the clunkiest and most boring games I’ve ever played.
This is the one time I disagree with the judging criteria because regardless of the lack of Metacritic reviews, The Day Before is objectively the worst game of the year, both in terms of its creators trying to pull a fast one with people’s money & the creation itself being a buggy, asset flip mess of a game
I gotchyer High Human right here
8:32 Shoulda just went with "Hellboy? More like Smellboy"
I think when they discuss gaming in the year 2023 they just need to use a picture of Gollum.
He sums it up PERFECTLY.
How is The Day Before not on here? good list otherwise
Didn’t you listen?
Doesn't matter leaving out major scam of a game just because metacritic is lame@@Dragonflee100
Metacritic. Go back to the old format. FFS.
“My PRECIOUSSSS!!!”
How did a PC port of a 24-year-old Chinese RPG land more professional reviews than Rise of Kong?
24 years of a growing fandom for that one game 🎉
Ahhh excuse me, I believe it’s called “Lord of Ring: Gollum”
Aka ChatGPTeeets
Super subjective topic. I loved, like seven of these games the other three I just didn’t play. probably would’ve liked those as well. Problem is everybody turned into a gamer, Karen. If the game doesn’t run at 1000 frames per second, pay your bills for you and have five years of DLC planned for you from the beginning….we shit all over it and say “it’s the worst”
Where’s Starfield?
where is the kong game?
Okay Hellboy Web of Wyrd isn't nearly as bad as you're making it out to be. Sure it's not a perfect game by any means, but there is 'some' fun to be had with it, and it's definitely not as bad as the first few games you mentioned before it. Wow, LOTR Gollum taking the top spot? No one saw that coming! (Sarcastic undertone)
Seriously though, not only was it a crap game, but it also had crappie, abusive companies to make the damned thing!
im sorry… but to me the web of wyrd art style looks so bad imo. it looks like poor cell shading and the shadows look kinda bad too. it just feels so bleak
None of these games were increbidle.
Lol I say redo this is list, I mean walking dead destinies deserves a shot loo
Metroid Prime rm is a Nintendo exclusive, so kind of pointless to remind us of anything about it when criticizing a PC game.
I am surprised Hogwarts Legacy didn't make the cut but most of the articles and reviews that trashed and lambasted that game also gave it a 10/10 so by technicality I suppose it didn't meet the standards
To have watched all 3 lists, Hogwarts Legacy, Marvel’s Spider Man 2 and Hi-Fi Rush are the biggest omissions, for various reasons. An honorable mention segment should be considered for next year’s lists 😉
This list being the 10 worst games already makes 2023 look like one of the greatest years for gaming ever in history. Hogwarts Legacy would have made that even more crazy, at least these 10 are mostly not amazing games or heavily flawed in some area. HL is a decent game for the most part.
Hogwarts Legacy was clearly a great game
the game is mid no matter how much you mf's keep simping on it
anything EA get their hands on is usually ruined.. cough UFC cough...
What a weird, put-on voice.
👽
Ya’ll gotta come up with stronger material. How many of these videos contain a bad pun and then a ‘uhhh got ‘em’ line? You list all these bad games with poor and repetitive writing and then do the same thing 😂
Forza Motorsport was awful too
"The website that gives our writer our opinions is broken, so don't blame us that our video is slightly more content-mill level dreck than it usually is."
ha ha ha
Maybe if your criteria excludes a game that should by all rights be on the list maybe you should change the criteria
I don’t really blame them though, they’ve kept that criteria for years to avoid shitty shovelware.
@@PastaIsNotNoodles yes I can understand that for years that are in the past but of course there are exceptions to the rules. it's basically a miscarriage of justice of course I'm being facetious but still. not only that the criteria is even more stupid when you consider metacritic is a review aggregate it isn't something like billboard that tells you what's been popular it's arbitrary. you can make a judgement with your own eyeballs on whether to include something and clearly tell if it's shovelware or not. when you follow rules so stiffly sometimes it leads to bad lists ot things that are objectively wrong. especially when this list advertisers itself as an objective list not subjective and objectively the bay before is the worst or second place at the least
@@ryancraig110 "especially when this list advertisers itself as an objective list"
Where?
Such a good year for shit games 🎉
I am quite surprised that Gangs of Sherwood and Flashback 2 did not make this list, considering that they were on Metacritic's Worst Video Games of the Year list.
It's web of Word not weird, please do better research
Yeah, the way they kept saying it wrong was really bugging me.
TBH they didn't even really need to do research to know how it's supposed to be pronounced, because the game's dialogue literally said it as "word" multiple times.
I would like to give an honorable mention to Counter Strike 2 simply because of the absolutely abysmal roll out. Between completely alienating CSGO fans, giving absolutely no choice or notice, and providing a buggy unreleased mess, Valve showed yet again how little they give a shit about their consumers
How in the world is that awful King Kong game not on this list?
Only 5 reviews on Metacritic. Walking Dead only has 4 or it would be on here, too.
Imagine caring what game journos have to say. LOL what a joke.
You should be doing this based on your own reviews and opinions. Can't watch your guys vieos anymore without feelings im just watching the same video over and over again, repetitive and based on other peoples opinions.
BG3 was the only good game of 2023
The lies we tell ourselves
You guys really should have waited before "recording" this video. There would have been lots more content with Kong skull Island and the day before. A poor decision on your part.
Yeah, it's great to have the exact same list as everyone else
My wife's boyfriend loved playing Gollum
Good list. But the loop 8 and persona comparison is dead wrong out side of them being high school kids and it being turn based there is no gameplay connection between loop8 and persona they didn't create the highschool RPG
I think I have more hate for you than the games lol
then dont watch the channel
Cheer up, Danny.
@@mattalan6618That will really increase viewership...
Did you actually laugh out loud when you typed lol?
Dude leaves only negative comments 🤷♂️
This has to be a part 1, right? Forspoken, Skull Island, Redfall, The Walking Dead Destinies and The Day Before are missing.
Did you not listen to the intro at all?
Those games aren’t really meeting TJ’s criteria… Just play 0:19 again.
But we can hope for a ‘What went wrong’ kind of video for one of these one day… (A what went wrong for the day before or redfall might be interesting…)
You got those painted on ears that parents bang on about huh. Watch the intro again.
@@meh7348 What?
@@maximillianmarcosebastian880 For sure, they shouldn’t be forgotten.
Where is Starfield ?
How Dare You!
Lord Of Ring Gollum was Amazing!
I love it almost as much as I do The Last of Us 2!!
LOTR was bad and everyone knows it
Bait used to be believable.
Jeeeessusss why are talking like that all of a sudden?? What changed??
