richelieu has been a main stay in my fleets ever since she was released, been using her together with jean bart and champagne for that ultimate preloaded bb volleys as well as a french vanguard consisting of saint louis, jeanne d'arc and algérie for maximum utilization of her flagship skill.
I have pretty much the same roster in my French fleet as well, except I'm using Dunkirk instead of Champagne ( still grinding that PR XP )

@@brettu5052 i was using gascogne as my third french back liner to grind for champagne, didnt have to use dunkerque in battle for that grind, i still love dunkerque though
If you worry about becoming king of mispronouncing names, don't worry, you cannot beat Anders or Azur Lane Meta in that category

Technically, Gasc was overpowered by Champy, but if you aready got it at a high dev level, REKT every enemy you face

The Cardinal is so elegant and regal. Definitely one of my favourite ships.
I'd love to have Richelieu and Jean in a fleet again, if Yostar would give us more fleets to work with.
P.S. I presume that high AA stat is because Richelieu sailed to the mainland US and got the Bofors and Oerlikon treatment.
You mean the 2nd Amendment mod.
I also want more fleets to work with. 6 is just not enough! A good idea would be to increase the amount of fleets to 10, but gives us 2 for free and the other 2 you have to use gems to get them. Not a bad deal imo.

Yeah she definitely lives up to her being a faction leader in every way. ...and I could almost swear Marie from FGO cheered "Vive la France!" in my head at one point during this video.
The French Faction as a whole - at least the SSRs and PRs - basically scream "PLAY ME ON MANUAL"

Facts time!
Though it is Portrayed that Richelieu is the Leader of the Iris Libre, aka AL's Version of the Free French Forces (Vichya Dominion being the Nazi Party/Fascist Supporting Vichy French Forces), she was actually Under the Vichy French Flag before, as a Result of being used as a Bargaining Chip for Armistice between Germany and the Remaining French Forces, she Served with the Vichy French until her Defection to Free French and Allied Forces in 1942, when the Allied Operation Torch Began, from then On she was Refitted in New York City, and Briefly Became Anchored Mates/Roommates with USS New Jersey.
After her Refit, she returned to the European Theatre, where she Served with the British Eastern Fleet, where he First Deployment with them is the Basis for her Event in Game, after the War, before being Sold for Scrap, she has a Last Cruise with her now Fully rebuilt Sister, Jean Bart in the Mid 1950s, she Was Broke Up and Scrapped during the Late 1960s, but Two of her 380mm Guns are Preserved in Brest and Ruelle.
Now for In Game Richelieu...
the Reason as to Why she has More Firepower, is that French Guns and (Naval) Gunnery tend to be among the Best in the World, and her High Main Gun Stats is Probably a Homage to that, as for her Evasion, its Hight because she's a Fast Battleship, while Nagato is a Pure Bred Big Gun Battleship, and Lastly as for her High AA, is due to the Fact she Packing like a Fuck Ton of AA Armaments, probably Second to that of USN Battleships, as for Her Skills, her First Skill is Probably because she's the Flag Ship of the Free French Forces and the Remaining is Probably to the Motif that she's a Religious Believer and Cardinal, Purge in Holy fire stuff and all that Jazz that fits the Bill.
Richelieu is a Very Beautiful and Divine Ship, both in Real Life and In Game, her Voice is Beautiful, she Looks Divine, and She can Slap you so Hard with a HE Shell that your Face will Burn for Years to Come, she is Deathly Loyal to her Fellow French Ships and Countrymen, as she is Religious to the Almighty Above, it is only Fitting that Flagship of one of the Most Elegant and Beautiful Ships to Have Graced the Seas, to have such a Divine Appearance, as well as Equally Beautiful Sisters (Jean Bart, Clemenceau and Gascogne), Give her Your Time and Love, and She'll Give you Her Divine Firepower and Love in Return.

I think her history makes her one of the few battleships to have historically fought on both sides of the war? And you're not kidding about her divine firepower, I was shocked when I first let my Richelieu out to play, then watched in shock as she vaporized an entire wave of enemies by herself.

And its Expected that Ships of Her Caliber and Fame are Very Powerful in Game, Like other certain Famous Warships...
Richie is still OP. Absolutely love her. As a mostly manual player, her and Jean just wreck everything. She was IMO, the strongest flagship until Veneto was released.

Next gen faction leader unit that makes Nagato seem a bit underwhelming in comparison as her stand alone combat ability is high. the ability to basically buff up heavy hitting ships like Jean Bart and Saint Louis.
This does beg the question: QE retro when?
That being said her swimsuit L2D is highly advised due to its cute/humorous animations.
The swimsuit skin definitely is quite adorable on her. Might consider it in the future.
Nagato still does okay on her own since her barrage is still quite nasty to deal with regardless. I can definitely agree with the next gen leaders feeling pretty strong.

Indeed Gascogne don't preload but when she load it's 2 salvos rather than 1 so I guess it's fine (I don't have Champagne and Richelieu for my French fleet soo I'll stick with Dunkerque, Jean Bart and Gascogne for now
The comparison with Nagato isn't really useful as most of the older ships have fallen under the "Power Creep" of the newer, shiner and stronger ships, even the once Legendary Enterprise is now a "Meh" carrier compared to all the new ones that popped up, especially considering it's heavy rely on Lucky E (aka RNG).

The ever beautiful, elegant Cardinal was raised rather quickly once I got her during Skybound Oratorio, and she now nukes high-level bosses and Sirens literally in the first volley she fires most of the time. It's such a treat to watch that happen and just think 'Sacré bleu!!' as the Boss just goes away in a mere moment. ^^ A battleship fleet of her, Jean Bart and New Jersey or Veneto just spanks things royally.
Richelieu as how Marco Polo will bonk you if they see you doing heresy and if you also aren't reading your bible.

that Richelieu has only 2 Guns Mounts could be a historically Reason. Because the Richelieu Class (Richelieu and Jean Bart) had only 2 Turrets with 4 Guns each. and they where mounted in front of the Superstruture of the Ships. also nice Vid and if not allready done add her Sister Jean Bart to the List.

Going by that reasoning then the likes of Nagato, Bismarck or Arizona should have 4 gun mounts, but they only get 3 🙃

Another great vid, cheers Hawk. Richie is for me "the one that got away". I believe I have most if not all of the 'really good' backliners in the game..minus ONE ship, Richelieu. I was taking a break from AL for a few weeks, and during that break, Richie's event came, and went.
Despite having maxed out ships like fdg, nj, etc etc, I keep sighing for missing out on Richie. The re-run of that event cant come soon enough :-/ lol

Not going to lie, I got this game to get 3 ships: Enterprise, Akagi, and Richelieu. Richelieu is one of my favorite IRL ships from the war, I find her design fascinating and her history enjoyable as well. The fact that she had better defenses than an Iowa Class and was just a single knot slower at the cost of just 15inch guns and 1 less barrel puts her in my eyes as a seriously underrated ship, and so when I saw her in the game I knew I'd get her as soon as possible. Still waiting...

In terms of comparison, I'm surprised you didn't double compare her with Veneto for the stats as the pizza ships are tech a minor faction as well. Still a solid review though.
I usually review against ships I've reviewed. Build up against knowledge I've already discussed
She was the first ship i built when I started.
Richelieu was my 2nd SR ship after starting the game right after Le Terrible. I have been pairing them together and I feel like it has been going well since Richelieu will buff Le Terrible and even though they are similar levels it is kind of a coin toss on which one does more damage at times.
I run royal navy back line and laffey front with Portland retrofit and York
she is pretty good against light armor

It should specify who can give XP towards any PRs. I don't think Iris Libra/Vichya do for Monarch.
