I’m honestly shocked at how many reactor’s I’ve seen who are mistaking Omashu for Ba Sing Se. Omashu is distinguishable by its mail chutes that go up and down throughout the city and the shape of the city is like a hill while Ba Sing Se is flat for the most part.
SAME! I keep correcting it everywhere. Thing is I think everyone means Omashu, but Ba Sing Se played a bigger role in the overall series, the "there is no movie in ba sing se" memes abound, so it's the one that's the freshest in everyones mind I think.
Hey there’s casual fans that have watched the whole thing through once or twice, then you have hardcore fans, such as myself, that can tell you any bit of lore about this show 😂
The kid who's playing Aang is a skateboarder. The kid who's playing zuko is a competitive martial artist. And the kid who's playing soccer is said to make everybody laugh hysterically every time he's on the set. These aspects of the actors alone makes exciting anticipation.
You mentioned the music and I think you're right. I need to re-watch this muted to really gauge how I feel. Because the music puts the bias in me. I can't hear that sound track without feeling joy.
The opening shot seems to be Sozin's comet 100 years ago, when it's power got harnassed to genocide the air nomads. Right after that we see the attack on one of the air temples.
Remember no firebenders can fly in ATLA without Comet Stat Boosts. The fact that these firebenders are flying up the mountain into the temple tells you how they managed to use the comets to extinguish the air nomads.
Since we saw the comet at the start I think that was the Fire nation Attacking the Air bender temple's since it looked kinda like it. Earth kingdom city of Oma Shu (BUMI!) and also I think that volcano island is th eone which we go to in the winter soltice. Cannot wait! :D
stumbling on this was a huge surprise since I'm such a big fan of your Star Wars channel. instant subscribe and now I'll have to go binge your Last Airbender and Korra reactions
I've been following the production of this VERY closely, I had to have my friend talk me down off of the hype just so I could go in with an objective view and after the trailer came out he said "welp, I can't check your expectations anymore because it looks awesome." I am so very ready for this. 8 episodes, each an hour long, with the filler episodes cut out or way way down, the show winds up being 20 minutes longer than the original series with more time to expand on character moments and story beats. It's Omashu, not Ba Sing Se, Utkarsh Ambudkar is playing Bumi. The showrunner has stated Aang is fun loving and adventureous, Katara is hopeful, Sokka is sardonic, resourceful, brash and has self doubts about beign a warrior.. doubts he hides with wit and sarcasm. So yes, there will be humor. The tone is said to be more in line with Book 3. Also, c'mon, you don't hire Daniel Dae Kim as Firelord to then not show that face.
"The tone is said to be more in line with Book 3." I so hope this is true. I was 48 when I first tried watching this show and I stopped after 2 episodes. I tried again 6 months later and fell in love. Once I got past the first season especially. The OG was an 8/10 for me. I am hoping the live action can push it up to a 9 or even a 10. For me anything rated an 8 or higher is a show I love and have or would watch again.
That was Monk Gyatso speaking. And that island they were flying to at the end, was Kyoshi Island. Notice her Giant statue can be seen at the left hand side of the island.
One of the first things I noticed when the costumes were showed off was that Zuko still had his eyebrow and his full ear that were destroyed in the Agni Kai, other than that, everything they've shown looks very promising.
Imo, I think the scar looks fine. For this to be a LIVE adaptation and making sure things translate to real life, from what the teaser showed, it looks good. Other faithful fans that have reacted to this seem to agree as well.
ATLA is my favorite show of all time, the aesthetics look good, (so far), I just hope the characterization is done well, we know the personalities, where each character starts there journey, and where they eventually end, the characters, dialogue and combat are 3 of the most important things in the OG series, and will be in this new one, every single move in combat is purposefully made, so, they MUST translate that into the live action adaptation, let's hope they get that right. 🙏💯
Next trailer or at some convention they should just come out and pronounce all the major character’s names so the audience knows there will be no issue. There could be some complaint that the character’s appearances are not whitewashed but the pronunciation of their names are.
in the og we only got the 100 year war back story thru exposition. I think they are going for a more chronological order of things. so we get monk Gyatso narration of Sozan starting the war, the genocide of the Air Nomads. Then Zuko's Agni Kai, then Zuko's banishment and the quest to find the Avatar. then we get Katara and Sokka finding Aang in the iceburg. But I think the title scene will be the classic Katara opening from the first episode of ATLAB introducing the bending elements. but then again not sure if this actress can handle the narration. we might just have Monk Gyatso do the opening title scene.
As i stated in another reaction channel, as long as they do right to the story and the characters, and keep some of the humor and the fun of the original animated series (and don't forget about the cabbage guy), i'll be a happy camper. But so far, everything looks on point, not to mention amazing ! Wish i could hibernate till late february. Say it with me. MY CABBAGES !!!
Paul Sun-Hyung Lee will be playing Iroh. He is a great actor and I hope he does justice to the character. Uncle Iroh is a big part of the show and brings a lot of heart. Also, I want to see Bumi! I want the mad genius himself.
Is Netflix going to go 2 for 2 with its newest live action adaptations? The One Piece live action exceeded expectations and is renewed for second season. I can only hope this will do as well as that one.
I love the Gyatso voiceover. The compositing looks weird in some shots and everything looks a little too clean. But it looks great. It’s crazy how I can pick out moments from specific episodes. And I don’t just mean the pilot. I mean I see shots from the Warriors of Kyoshi episode, I see Omashu, I see shots from the Winter Solstice two-parter.
I really hope it will be good. My most concern is the bending. In the movie there was too much unnecessary moves before the actual bending. (and this is only just one thing why it was horrible). I hope they give time to the series and follow the story like in the cartoon and the first will be the Book of Water, then S2 Book of Earth and S3 Fire. However, so far so good. I like it. We shall see.
Visually they have it looking great. But will the writing be good enough? Will the acting be good? They characters, they don't have to be the same but they should definitely be close to the originals. I was never a big fan of Sokka and Aang. But even then I don't want to see major changes. Subtle improvements hopefully. My favorites in this order were: 1. Toph 2. Iroh 3. Katara 4. Zuko 5. Azula 6. Aang 7. Sokka If you want to include the combo of Appa and Momo you can put them at the top of the list.
Oh yes, new Avatar The Last Airbender Netflix series will be good and incredible in 2024 like the original show, I can't wait to see new live action series not 2010 movie next year. Avatar The Last Airbender 2024 is way much better than The Last Airbender movie 2010 I'm so glad.😄😁😆

I will be watching. It looks promising. Dirty trick using the OGs music. yeah Zukos scar needed to be more prominent. But thats often the problem with live Action. They dont do ugly well. Similar to how Tyrion should have looked in GOT. And the show skipped that. too much Make up involved likely. Though I wonder bout the font they used... didnt fit at all.
I was very on the fence about Azula, thinking she looked a bit too soft. But seeing her in this trailer has changed my mind a bit, we still have to see the actual series, but so far it looks very promising. My only gripe about this trailer is that Momo and Appa look way too much like CGI+greenscreen LOL
I question whether that was Firelord Ozai or Firelord Sozin. We're seeing the comet pass overhead as an attack is launched on the Earth Kingdom, while Iroh talks about time and the future and past being mixed up, so I think there's a chance that was Sozin 100 years ago.
After Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko were forced to abandoned the project in 2020 because of "prolonged creative differences" with Netflix, I figured this series is probably going to be another disappointment for fans, but not as bad as the M. Night Shyamalan film, if that were even possible. I hope I'm proved wrong, in a good way. The actors playing all of the adult characters and some of the younger ones look great. The ones playing Aang, Katara and Zuko look a little off compared to their animated counterparts, but I can overlook that if the acting is decent. I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm keeping an open mind and very much looking forward to watching the series.
No white-washing, Carson Teva/Appa from Kim's Convenience playing Iroh, and the Kyoshi Warriors appearing already puts this so far ahead of the M. Knight movie. Just need the writing and performances to match the production quality. Only nitpick I have is seeing Ozai's face so early.
The set design, cgi, and casting is all great, but the costumes have really underwhelmed me, they feel like cosplay rather than clothes worn by real people. Agree about the scar as well. Still cautioisly optimistic.
Man fuck this live-action. Here's why I've rewatched this damn childrens' series an embarassing amount of times over the past 10 years: ATLA excels in character and story writing, animation and art-style, sound design and music. You take away the art (and the humor goes with it), turn it into some CGI slop with child actors, alter the story and yeah, maybe up the game with cool sfx or build on the music, but what is left has lost its soul. The child actors will never be able to convey emotion like their animated counterparts and if they try to keep the humor it'll just be cringe. To top things off, the original creators of ATLA were going to produce this show but left in 2020 over a dispute with some Netflix execs! Replaced by a guy whose only credits are from some daytime trash. Mark my words, this'll be just as bad or worse than the Witcher.
