Lent my friend my 18" 6mm ARC suppressed rifle so he could hunt whitetail during Thanksgiving week. On the back patio of his dad's ranch house in Central Texas, he got a hit at 410 yards on a buck. the deer when 10 yards and was dead. No wind whatsoever. His biggest take-away was hearing the hit at 410 yards due to the distance and it being suppressed. A couple weeks before we used the same rifle for a deer each, but it was only 100 yards. I bring this up, because he's never shot past 150 yards before, and his first test shots with the 6mm ARC on a target was the day prior at 380 yards (after I gave him elevation instructions first, via a text message), and his group was under 1 MOA at that distance. This built confidence and experience quickly, since he's never stretched out past 150 yards before.
Mark, looking forward to taking a dmr style class with you. I too just got a centurion arms 18" 6 ARC complete upper. Have you found that 105gr bthp is more accurate than the 103 or 108gr eld? My centurion shoots 108gr eld at 1 to 1.8". Ordering 105gr bthp to test. Fingers 🤞. Appreciate any feedback you can offer! Thanks
What bolt and BCG you recommend running for 6ARC? Saw a video at shot show with Geissele making 6 ARC BCG out of carpenter steel and Aero with 8620 steel and others with 9310 steel
Thank you Mark. I waffled on 6 ARC vs 6.5 Grendel, and went Grendel because factory ammo was more plentiful and cheaper back when I plunked down cash for the barrel. Looks like 6 ARC factory ammo has come down quite a bit in the past 18-24 mos. I've read & heard that 6 ARC is a barrel burner. Have you burned through any 6 ARC barrels yet? If you did, do you mind sharing how many rounds it took?
I have not. I’ve got around 2k on my original suppressed 12.5. Still shoots real fine. No issues. Also, how many thousands of rounds do you plan to shoot through it? Because I would wager if a man can easily afford to buy thousands of rounds of 6arc, another barrel prolly ain’t a big deal.
@@jbstraininggroup3640 Thanks man. Agree on the barrel cost at replacement time. Was just curious about what people mean if they say 6 ARC is, relatively speaking, a barrel burner.
Actually, I've read that the 6 ARC is noted for not being a "barrel burner", e.g. 5K rounds. Possibly FUD from 6.5 Grendelers. Perhaps you can provide references? Notwithstanding bolt face and magazine difficulties have been problematic in some cases, but not sufficient to keep me from building a 6ARC. I appreciate a candid look at the pros and cons.
@@OlTrailDog Hey, I didn't say I had a white paper on it. What kind of nonsense is this, asking for citations etc? Internet comedy, perhaps, and maybe a kind I'm not familiar with? I read quite a few discussions on 6 ARC vs 6.5 Grendel before choosing a Grendel barrel a couple years back. Whether someone is a "fudd" I can't tell from an internet post and you can't either. Besides, "fudd" makes you sound like a teenager who is still rebelling against his daddy. What does that word actually tell anyone except your lingering hatred of a generation older than yourself? I really like Mark's instructional and info-sharing approach. Whatever else you want to say about me, go ahead.
I have a 6 ARC I need to assemble. It’s a 20” proof carbon barrel with a Seekins platform and all JP internals. I have a few Centurions in 5.56 and mainly shoot suppressed so I may convert one to a 12.5 ARC and try it out. Also in my research one of the positives of 6 ARC is long barrel life so must be conflicting info out there.
For 556, how do you approach zeroing when you want to shoot different bullet weights? I got my first scope recently (1-6 razor). I've been shooting 55gr since it's the cheapest and easy to find, but the 75-77gr offerings look enticing because of their greater BCs. Do you zero for 55gr and learn all your holds off of that for 55 and 77? It'd be nice to only shoot 77gr but it's pricier of course.
You need to zero for the round you’re using. You can zero the 55gr and move caps to “0” then zero for the 77gr. When you’re done with 77gr, take caps back to “0” and you’re back where you were initially. This is all assuming your turrets track true.
What’s your outlook for the ammo availability? Seems since I’ve bought mine it’s disappearing more and more and getting harder to find. Will more companies start making ammo?
This was pretty much the same discussion when 6.5mm and 6mm creedmoor hit the PRS. 308 does the job and has but these other cartridges just offer a little better features.
When you break the shot with .308 Winchester, you immediately lose your sight picture and the round has connected before you can recover to assess your shot. It hits with authority, but there's very minimal feedback you can see for yourself.
Hey Mark, I've got 2 stupid questions for you. 1. Can you do a video on setting up for success in, and shooting your 1st gas gun rifle match? 2. What holster would you recommend for someone with a P320 and full size light?
@@jbstraininggroup3640 excellent, thank you very much! Unfortunately I was told by the folks at Tenicor that they have no plans to support the P320 with a full size light.

Every barrel likes what it likes. I have some that are favoring 108 and others 106 and others 105. It’s all about trying it out and seeing.

I believe the cartridge is here to stay and ammo availability will only increase with time.
Ammo will be more plentiful with time. The problem currently is that only hornady is manufacturing brass for the cartridge.
How has that R6 been working for you compared to other cans!?
Doing great. No complaints

Plus the 6.5creedmoor has the added benefit of helping those scared to come out of the closet, to do so, but in a way they feel more comfortable!
Which brand 6 ARC bolts do you prefer?
Alexander Arms
