I almost lost it at "vegetable caviar"! Though I can undestand where the confusion comes from. For clarification, there is a Russian word "ikra", that has several different, but possibly related meanings. It can mean caviar, especially combined with the name of the fish it comes from. In this case, for when it is used with vegetables, it's like a vegetable preparation, similar to ajvar for example. And also the same word is used for the calf muscle for some reason (maybe because it has a similar shape to how caviar is stored inside fishes?). And the vegetable ikra is definitely not eaten hot, it's often eaten directly out of the fridge actually (I find it's tastier the next day).

The beef you had looks like "tushonka" aka canned stewed meat. It is best with "makaroni" pasta - you just put them together. Or you can make "The travelers soup" - put tushonka and vegetables you have left in fridge into the water, boil it. Tushonka is really handy when you run out of salt while hiking. If you are going to try proper Russian food - try "stroganina" or "indigirka". Good luck! :)

I guess this is some kind of Yakut meal? I would offer guys vareniki, pelmeni or resstegai. Maybe schi or borscht. Oh, and kisel'! They should suffer a little))))
No country (except apparently Korea) makes good military rations. I ate MREs (Meals Ready to Eat, or "Meals Rejected by the Enemy" as we soldiers called them) a lot when I was in the Army in the 1990's. There were twelve variants. Most were acceptable (you'd literally prefer anything else, but they were better than going hungry), some were good, some were inedible.
@@arifryo6823 No, you are correct. There are many I have not ever tried. I was making a generalization based on the fact that preserved food tends to not be as nice as fresh food.

Sadly for Russian soldiers, those rations are still eaten today. In the parts of Ukraine from which Russian armies have fled, rations from 2015 are still being found.
You can eat the pig fat. They actually have a whole dish centered around pig fat called Salo, which is just raw pig fat cured with salt then spread on bread. It is actually delicious, like a really rich salted butter.

Or you can make "The travelers soup" - put tushonka and vegetables you have left in fridge into the water, boil it. Tushonka is really handy when you run out of salt while hiking.
If you are going to try proper Russian food - try "stroganina" or "indigirka". Good luck! :)
I wouldn't say that this is a "proper" Russian food... to be honest, as a Russian myself, I didn't even know what "Indigirka" is lol, I think it's too local. I think it's too local. I guess this is some kind of Yakut meal?
I would offer guys vareniki, pelmeni or resstegai. Maybe schi or borscht. Oh, and kisel'! They should suffer a little))))
i love this episode bc josh just becomes like a tired mother towards the end
You guys have to try good russian food. Of course russian rations are bad! 😅
@@MisterTsumi you havent eat indonesian are you? , Its delicious.
@@arifryo6823 No, you are correct. There are many I have not ever tried. I was making a generalization based on the fact that preserved food tends to not be as nice as fresh food.
Wow. American soldiers in Yugoslavia changed their rations to Russians in a ratio of 3-1. To begin, learn how to eat it right! Something is used cold. Something needs to be warmed up. Dukes.
@@rerbitd7094 Good thing they didn't taste Russian winter ration, it's high calories version of regular MRE. There is even milk powder, so you can add water and make pretty much normal milk.
"No one eats the pig's fat!" Meanwhile in Serbia we literally spread pig's fat on bread, sprinkle some paprika on top and eat it as a sandwich.
Bruh. No wonder you guys drink that plum brandy stuff. ^^
@@Madness2bhere vodka is not made of plums
@urskaska that’s why he used the word brandy.
@@urskaska My guess is that @Bucephalus is referring to palinka, which is great but takes some getting used to.
And pig fat is delicious, I'm hundred percent behind my Serbian neighbours on this.
Vegetable caviar is just a squash/eggplant salad. Usually eaten warm on a crunchy toast.
7:24 Ollie: "and its starting to melt the juice"
Me: the WHAT?
정말 hard work 하시네요..

I'd agree with Joel XD The military is a country's asset, not their guinea pig :P feed them properly!
oh my god i didn't even realise the JOLLY set was tape 0-0
When Ollie spat some pork fat, i laughed while laying on my sides and hahahahaha saliva went out. I am sorry hahaha but i’m with you Ollie 😂
When i saw the notification i was thinking BUT ITS NOT YET WEDNESDAY because i thought it was an ep for the twins series lol
this is the first time I've heard and seen someone else other than Ollie be rewarded with the phrase "You're an idiot". Isn't that an accomplishment for this channel? 😂

IF ONLY WE COULD JOSH 😂😂
Well, I've discovered this JOLLY just a few days ago and I found so many fun things from this channel that I should knew that from many years ago, also the thing that Josh is the korean englishman that started the very first fire noodles challenge, am I too late to become JOLLYBEANS right now ??? 😅😅😅😅
dunno how but I read the title as "Ration Army Russians".. don't ask how..
Haha
You should try Dutch army rations! They're really good!
yayy Joelly! 11:44 is the moment I had been waiting for the entire time ;)
I actually thought Major Charles would be here reading from the title! hahaha! 😂💕
Ollie will literally eat anything and likes about 90% of it. His wife must have it so easy for dinner. 😂
It's weird how English people don't use bread, like... How
bread is for plebs

Josh: YOU CAN'T EAT PIG FAT
Ukranians: 👀👀👀
How to watch Jolly videos:
Step 1 open video
Step 2 hit like button
Step 3 watch the video
4:52 did josh and joel just swirled that drink with the spoon upside down.....
throughout the whole video I've just been waiting for THIS !!!! 11:45
Thanks for the timestamp amazing
Sadly for Russian soldiers, those rations are still eaten today. In the parts of Ukraine from which Russian armies have fled, rations from 2015 are still being found.

You can eat the pig fat. They actually have a whole dish centered around pig fat called Salo, which is just raw pig fat cured with salt then spread on bread.
It is actually delicious, like a really rich salted butter.
Ollie : "I guess its the eggs that vegetables lay in breeding session"
Josh : ...

Guys try our Singapore army rations. It's the same food they make for Singspore airline. But heat all the food if you're gonna try it out.
We have a liver pate in norway too! It looks the exact same as the one in this video. It´s delicious and is eaten as a regular thing to put on your bread
same in croatia, but ours looks better, less rubbery
This is not your supermarket pâté. This is army rations. It's like comparing a tank with a ferrari for steering and handling.
You guys need to try French, Italian, Canadian and Spanish MREs. They have really good reputations.
I CLICKED ON THE NOTIFICATION SO FAST WHEN I SAW JOEL IN THE THUMBNAIL OMG OMG
Hi, Josh and Ollie! I hope you take a look into Ukrainian Army Rations or Ukrainian food and conduct a fundraiser to donate to people in Ukraine who needs food and basic necessities. We Jollybeans would love to support you in helping Ukrainians survive their everyday lives right now in the middle of the crisis. Please 🙏
