K-American here. In the early years of the Afghanistan conflict, one of the outpost I was in had French Foreign Legions. The FFLs with us had massive amount of French rations. Honest to God, they got sick of them, and opted to eat the food cooked by our cooks (mostly deep fried food, already pre-made and frozen. i.e. hamburgers and pizzas). The FFLs always kept their storage doors open for us Americans to take their rations. First time I've ever had rabbit, lamb and duck was in Afghanistan, eating a French ration.
MMS Protocol Honestly, not that bad...depending on the meal. There are around 10 different meals, and each one has their own unique personality. The very bad meals will have the best side dishes. But the good main dishes had bad side dishes. For example, a meal they no longer make, egg omelet, was terrible! But it had the best side items. My favorite American MRE is hashbrown, it’s a mixture of hash and bacon. But, the side meals aren’t that good, think like mix nuts or something like that. But to compare the American ration to French rations, no comparison. The British ration is better than the American, too. The brits has this meal with beans and weenies, and some sort of custard pudding with a cake in it.
@MMS Protocol usually the veggie meals have good sides, my personal favorite is the cheese ravioli when you get the chance to heat it up it’s okay when cold

4:17 It was Napoleon and the French government that really changed everything. Hoping to find a more effective way to feed his troops, a prize of 12,000 francs ( quite a fortune at the time ) was offered to anyone who could devise such a means. Continuing with experiments on the subject he started years before Napoleon's government challenge, Nicolas Appert discovered that it was heat (not air) that kept pesky spoilage (caused by microbes, although he didn’t know this) at bay. This was even though the official scientific discovery of those microbes in relation to food spoilage came some 50 years later. (Thank you, Pasteur!) But Appert was correct, even if he didn’t know entirely why. Appert’s process involved placing food inside glass jars, that were then corked, much like wine, and sealed off with a wax seal. The jars were wrapped in canvas and then boiled. He submitted his invention to the French government and was announced the winner in January of 1810, some 15 years after he first began experimenting. That same year Appert published " The Art of Preserving Animal and Vegetable Substances ", the first cookbook of its kind on modern food preservation. If you don't want to mess with your life, don't mess with our food.

I love how Ollie tries his best to read French and Gabie is a hundred percent better.
Don't worry Ollie, as a french, I understood all you said. You're doing great, keep it on !
I just noticed when Josh was shouting "It's alive". They use the same font bon appetit use for Brad Leone's show
I feel like Ollie and Gabie joined forces for once and Josh didn't come out looking like the cool one for once.... What twilight zone am I living in ?!?!
In France when you turn 16 you have to go thru this day called Journée d'Appel when you basically hang out in an army base, learn about soldiers' daily live and all... and the sergeant I met really didn't seem to enjoy the rations... NOW considering what other countries have I'm sure he must be quite grateful lmao
Also hearing you guys pronouncing French words was hilarious but I'm glad Gabie was here cause otherwiseee... Si vous visitez la France en hiver, goûter la raclette !!!! J'imagine que Gabie l'a déja fait c'est des pommes de terre cuites, de la charcuterie et du fromage, probably n2 national pride after pains au chocolat.
Ollie the mere wife:
“Josh~ Josh~ when both of your wives are pissed...”
Josh the husband panicking to fix situation🤣
Am I the only one who noticed that the shirt color of each of them matches the background? behind josh is a bunch of green plants, behind gabie is the pink wall, and behind ollie is a white jolly shirt.
the energy in 5:48? unmatched.
for real tho both ollie and gabie are going evil scientist mode and josh is the sane sidekick.
8:27 Josh stubbornly saying everything is fine even though he knows he’s completely ruined the cooking process 😂😂😂
To be fair, it said on the packet to leave the can half opened so he was technically right 😂
Your French pronunciation was pretty good ! 😂
And of course we do not mess around with food guys ! It’s our whole life ! 😂
" Fermer la bouche " lmao 😭😂
6:35
G:"Jesus, jesus!"
J:"Why are you calling on jesus?"
Rev Chris: "Why aren't you josh?"
The ending when gabie said goodbye in french. They dont understand it, so she instead make the sound effect of the outro. She cracked me up
I did 5 years in french army, there is 14 or 15 different meal. And it can be good when you have proper time to "cook" one of these.
He sent one of the good rations...
9:27 They are impressed by the food while there's a fire on a ration can. LOL
Gabbie’s french accent tho.
ugh thats music on my ear 😌💗
If Ollie is as good in french as he is in Korean, he's really getting there. I was impressed by how well he read the french labels!
This was so chaotic and hilarious to watch😂😂 I love them!
5:44 조쉬는 what are you talking about!!!하면서 열변을 토하고 있는데 가비&올리는 예에~!~!맛있겠다😀😀😀 하는 게 너무 웃김ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 무슨 만화 같아요ㅋㅋㅋ
"I'm the cats walking around the garden" 🤣 You'd be a cute cat Ollie. A mischievous one to be exact 🤣 I only started watching this and the other channel one week ago and I have to say that I am totally hooked! ❤️
9:17 I love how they carry on while the can is still on fire 😂😂
"Double Wife approval!"
The man's cornered! Somebody help him!
7:28. As a French bon vivant, I'll give one advice.
Don't mind the texture. Only trust your taste.
You'll enjoy foods you've never enjoyed before.
I really understood Ollie reading the instructions in French ,he did a good job 👏🏼 👍🏼😁
I can’t believe you managed to get Josh both saying “It’s Alive” and mumbling some fake English in the same sentence. The double Bon Apetit reference is so slick
Ollie was better at French than me and I’ve done 4 years in elementary school and two years of academic French. Dies in Canadian French that I’m going to completely forget the second I finish high school.
I like how they keep tasting the food while the fire is literally right in front of their faces
I love when Gabbie joins! Double wife approval 😂
Who else just watches because they love Olly? I don’t think he gets enough love 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️
LOVE THIS SHOW BEEN WTCHING IT FOR QUITE LONG TIME SO ADDICTIVE!
