Talkin' to Tasty Steve About Guilty Gear Strive & Anime (Podcast Episode 0)

This is a test run of the new podcast, the audio will hopefully get figured out in the future. Idk what the status is for this going onto spotify/itunes/whatever other way you listen to a podcast, but it'll be posted in the comments and probably on / sajam when it does happen.
btw this is a test for SAJAM's podcast, it will likely feature a rotating guest. Tasty Steve is a busy fella and he's never in town, it'll be hard enough to schedule The Mix let alone a podcast on top of that.

Hey, thanks for checking out the test run! Sorry about the audio, but if y’all like this kind of format I’ll look into doing something bi-weekly/weekly through discord or in person with some better equipment!
get on with ifcyipes and the nofrillz we want crossovers with castlesuperbeast
its all good dude, pumped you started this!
Wtf where are the rest of the episodes!
I love both your banter I definitely will tune in next bi weekly.
Absolutely, I will watch this whenever you wanna put it out.
smh I can tell this is a test run because the actual podcast would have Majas and Yummy Stew on. Guess I can deal with their inferior copies for now...
This should be called
"La Receta: By Yummy Stew and Majas"
Look at yummy stew and majas talk about fighting games. I knew this guatamalan duo was going places
I love how like sajam grabs his arms when he's close to steve... Maybe some kind of phantom pain or something
I honestly hope this turns into a JJBA podcast
Guilty Gear *AND* JoJo conversations...??? Wow, the perfect podcast exists?👀👀
I hope the name just stays 'Podcast'
Tasty Steve gonna come out one day with those wristbands going all the way up him arm
Steve get a channel and start streaming and talkin shit, you the only one missing my guy. love yall
Steve has a channel he's just really inconsistent
Love both topics but shout outs to the JoJo talk, glad you checked it out.
Steve is already an extremely hype person and then you get him talkin bout anime and he just loses his mind
Tasty Steve's excitement for GG is infectious, you can very much tell how passionate he is for it. Def gonna pick it up
I see Steve's name, and I Hulk Smash the like button. I don't care what it's about, I will binge watch on repeat while my eyes turn green.
Watching 2 brothers geek out and discuss makes me so happy.
That was a great JoJo discussion man.
The best thing about this is that Sajam just chills and lets Steve go.
Now this is the FGC content I want.
“We’re going in raw baby.” -Tasty Steve
Is this currently on the Tasty Steve soundboard?
It took Steve and Sajam talking about Jojo to get me to watch Jojo. No regrets.
As someone that had been following Kimetsu no Yaiba manga when it was low in popularity and people thought it was gonna be cancelled for sure, it's pretty satisfying to see how popular it has become.
Everyone LOVES Wammu.
The JoJo talk was fire. Definitely do a video discussion for part 3.
This was great, there's nothing I want more in life now than seeing you guys talk about JoJo part 3.
This is deadass one of the greatest epodcasts I have ever seen. We need more!
Is that Yummy Stew?
My favorite narrators, Majas and Yummy Stew
You guys are awesome. Thank you guys so much for making my experience of life so much better, knowing u are in it for all my gaming, anime, and comedic fixes. With much love.
Live from Guatemala! It's The Fight Show with your host, Majas and the Yummy Stew band!
Steve's hand is a maraca.
Cabasa
A gattling combo that only lacks the gattling part. Th0nk
Can this be the podcast? Just you and Tasty Steve chilling and talking about video games, anime, movies and current events.
"One of you guys may come back as a turtle"
SAJAM you won't get this till months later after you've finished all the current seasons
Man ive seen both demon slayer and jojo talked about here and there, and I havent been very interrested, but cause of how hype both Sajam and Steve are when talking about it I started watching and its actually as the kids say, lit.
2:00 The track 'Blacklight Babe', off that Korean OST, basically got me into Guilty Gear in the first place.
I'm not a podcast guy but holly shit I could listen to you guys forever, loved it and laughed so much, definitely want more of it
Oh yeah. Cant wait for the majas and yummy stew episodes.
TastyJam podcast, defo need this for my commute to work! keep it up guys
Yo this would be a godlike podcast if you continued
This was delightful, keen for more
My only hope is that old leak is true and Ram comes back, she would be sick in this game!
Got to play the game. I will say my history of GG is from Accent Core R+ to Rev2. I enjoy the gattling system of GG since I started getting into it, even when I did not know strings that well just being able to keep pressing buttons was enjoyable. I hope the gattling does come back in some way. Yet, this game still got my attention and I still want to be able to play more. I'm betting that EVO in Vegas 2020 will have the release date announcement and that ArcRevo next year will be the release day.
That seems to be a common impression of everyone who played the demo- It's not perfect but everyone who played it really enjoyed it. The naysayers are mostly people who are just watching footage and armchairing it.
@@Chaos2Frozen Except Teresa did play it and he's not really happy at all about it. As an OG myself, I'm on his side, too. Strive doesn't feel like GG to me without said personality and technicality, man.
@@LeonDOGE We already established it not like GG. Thats the whole point of switching things up. The important thing is whether or not it's still fun to play.
Actually I question that "its not really GG" part, because as Tasty Steve said he noticed there were some parts from pre-Xrd GG
@@FxCalibur Sajam also did point out on that video that Steve has been playing Guilty Gear longer than most of us have been alive so using Dark Phoenix to try to discredit him is silly.
People are overreacting to the whole simplified thing. I'm literally watching Maximilian's stream right now and he's saying pretty much the same thing as Steve is- It's not that the depth of the game is gone, it's just in different places now. You still have a lot of cool stuff you can do with the mechanics especially with RC.
The game is just different now.
@@Chaos2Frozen I wouldn't say so much an overreaction when Arc has been focusing all their games over the last few years on simplifications and narrowing the skill gap. Daisuke points that out a lot in his recent interviews, and even goes in to say that he's willing to risk alienating his old audience for a newer one. So they have a justification in being angry. In my opinion they should've refined Xrd, and introduced more ways to learn and help the casual. This game is trying to go into SF territory to try and close the gap, as pointed out by Daisuke but that wont happen. I fail to see how this game has the same depth when they removed options and ways to interact, esp set play and corner game. Who's to say that Teresa's experience isn't as valid as Steve's?
I'd like to point out that point out Recency Bias as well. Any game that you just get your hands on you're gonna think is good in the initial hours because there's still stuff to discover. People were saying the same shit now as they did with SFV, and look at how many hate that game now. I'm just saying this game will have an audience in the short run, but it wont last past a month due to the nature of this game being built to be able to pick up and play fast.
Btw just to ask, what game did they give to appeal the fans of the old GG or BB who like their difficulty and style? What about them? When BB5 inevitably goes down this direction as well, are you gonna tell them to deal with it as well?
Waiting for both of these guys to read part 7 I'd pay to just watch them talk about that shit
I need more of this shit in my life. Just have these guys, and a rotating selection of guests, just talk about random shit they hate and love is a formula for hilarity and awesome.
need this on Spotify if possible asap
Pls keep doing these this is exactly what I've been wanting
TastyJam podcast pog
Damn, we just got That Blasted Salami + FrameWhisperer + TMMSWE and now we got Majas + Yummy Stew??? Such a blessed arc to be alive for.
fugl kylling what a time to be alive! I need more of my favorite FGC people talking to each other.
And No Frillz!
It's a really good time to be a Tekken player right now
Although I'm getting *real* tired of FrameWhisperer's innuendos :/
Chokes whatever floats your boat I guess. I find him to be very entertaining and very informative. Given the small size of the Tekken content producing community, the more unique voices we have, the better, and Frame is certainly a unique voice. Personally find his usage of innuendos to be a very amusing companion to his pretty technical and detailed observational abilities.
Idk if anyone else watched it, but Woolie made an awesome video discussing his in depth time with the game. The entire game is about RISC being a core mechanic, with being able to blow people up, at least according to Woolie and his play time. FD now negates all RISC gain, so it's new purpose just moves depth elsewhere.
It's hard to believe that preventing risc is going to be worth spending meter. I'm hoping to change my mind when I see it, but right now it's impossible to fathom for me.
it still removes depth because it doesnt change frame data
@@Pandaman64 It's worth it because getting hit with a full Risc gauge takes a massive chunk of your health. SamSho style.
@@Chaos2Frozen a counter hit dust turns into an old school Arial Rave style combo with gatlings that can do 50+%. It only takes 2-3 air blocks to hit 100% risc. With drift RC, it might even be possible to chase and score multiple air hits. You make one bad jump and you might have full risc, get dusted, and instantly die. Pressure is still a huge part of the game, it's just applying a different form of pressure.
@@xLuminary Are you talking about FD or IB? FD never changed frame data
Love it sajam. Keep it up! Ill be a regular for sure.
"You might come back as a turtle"
Steve gets it
I can always fit more podcast goodness in my life for those grindy gaming moments. Hopefully you keep these going as a regular thing =)
I am def interested in a sajam(hopefully tasty Steve too) podcast
That thumbnail is super anime and to find out it happened naturally is pretty awesome 😁 Great podcast guys
You better get Majas on as a guest at some point
Bro I love how this podcast went from strive critiques to FreddyxJason and JOJO discussions
I am happy this is a thing, make Steve the co-host forever
Oh hell yes!! This is what I've been waiting for!
I hope the next part Drops soon
we are gonna need that weekly jojo discussion
As a Chipp main myself, I'm super pumped to play this one. Been playing him since #Reload so here's hoping he'll be super fun at release. Quick question, and I might've missed it if Steve said it in the video, but do any of you guys know if Chipp can still use jump installs? If he still can, I wonder if they'll be hard to work into his combo game with combos being more horizontal. Might be better for mixups or something? Idk, but either way still hyped!
Don’t think there are jump instal combos in this game. Don’t think. There are old air combos in this game in general probably play more like unist in that regard.
Honestly fuck the whole fighting game thing, can we just get a weekly podcast of Sajam and Tasty Steve getting hyped about anime because that shit was hilarious.
"Coming back as a turtle" lmao, you know it
The band is N.EX.T led by Shin Hae Chul. So I don't know where the "led by a woman" part is coming from.
Fun fact: Two of these songs from the game become full songs for one of N.EX.T's real albums, Infested (Justice) and Dear America (Assassins).
The Korean #Reload OST is such fire.
@@SmilebombFGC Why it wasn't included in Xrd is beyond me, except maybe the sound quality. It would've been a nod or tribute to Shin as he unfortunately passed away. I wonder if Daisuke made Kum with that in mind.
@@EnvyMizuhashi Final Opus sounds very similar to another N.EX.T song: Laura. it's from the same album as Dear America. I have no idea why Tasty Steve called Shin Hae Chul a woman, but if he's enjoys his music then I'm glad he's sharing my favorite musician's music.
Tasty Steve + Sajam = Epic
Put this on on the background to chill, but ended up getting hyped for 50 minutes.
i need at least 700000 more episodes thanks
Sajam won't be the same no more after jojo.
Tasty Steve is my boy!!
I'm trying to keep an open mind, but gatling combos are so much a part of the identity of anime games....they allow you to focus on learning the deeper elements of a character rather than worrying about which button to hit in what order. Hit confirming is so much fun with gatlings because you don't miss your opportunity by doing 5k instead of 2k; you just create a different opportunity.
With something like Tekken, every button must be hit in the right order and at the right cadence....but that never felt like the priority in Guilty Gear. It was more about figuring out how to overlap mechanics to create a unique solution to your problem.
I like playing the guess which characters where inspired by this jojo character game
That was a good podcast.
1. Yummy Stew has the bestest taste. The Korean #Reload OST is amazing. Millia's theme is my favourite.
2. I don't understand the change regarding the gatlings. Not only gatlings were more creative but also easier since you could pretty much press anything and get something.
3. The wall breaker is strange in many ways. Can you get multiple breaks? What would happen with character that have permament second entities like Millia's hairpin on the ground? I don't know whether or not they actually thought about the consequences of what they were doing.
4. The characters, and this is what worries me the most, while they resemble different versions of the game they have lost the quirky mechanics that made the game special for me. Main case being May's summons from Xrd. It may be to make the game easier to understand, or maybe to limit the potential of okizeme; but they are gone and that's a game killer for me.
@ if you don't know about the May's summons in Xrd, the summoned ball will be traveling in an arching trajectory, in the meantime you can do whatever you want by having more viability while the ball is on the screen; covering your next attack(e.g charged 6HS); safer pressure/high low mixup(e.g 6K is a slow overhead); connect combos; you can even hop on the ball to do a downward ball slam or bait your opponent's anti air thinking you are gonna do a jump-in.
In Strive, it just acts like a ryu's shoryuken or ky's stun edge, you are locked until the animation's over, what can you do until the animation's over besides RC? And I don't know if it is gonna wallspat in the corner to allow more combo? I'm not sure, I haven't seen much footage.
@ GG wasn't really about footsies. Its neutral was richer than that.
I mean her specific summons from Xrd. The negative edge dolphins you could ride and the beach ball throwing otter. They offered way more chances to be clever than the new summon with a linear projectile.
@ We see the charge dolphins and a walrus with a projectile that goes aways at it touches the ground. Nothing to do with the Xrd summons.
It may be shorter, but characters in GG can use multiple points of reference for their neutral, such as controllable/interactable projectiles. See for example Bridget or Carl Clover, which use 3rd entities as part of their neutral game, having then additional measurements for distance. "Footsies" on the contrary are one-dimensional.
@ Sure, but Guilty Gear offers more than that.
@ It certainly doesn't do everything perfectly. The mashing mechanics like stagger and dizzy are awful mechanics inherited from the past, and the okizeme was terrible in Xrd. But its neutral is not one of those things, at all.
GIMME MORE OF TASTY STEVE HAND GRABBIN!! NAU!
Quick note about the anti air thing.
I don't think being able to block in the air will be as different to Rev 2 as it may seem due to most of the time when you jump, it'll be an offensive choice where you'll just be jumping in for an overhead attack in the air which isn't blocking.
I feel like it'll only drastically make jumping in neutral much safer than usual, because I don't see it making jumping offensively much different
Love this~
Majas is living proof that thick necks are not only common with wrestlers but also Guatemalan tech company professionals
steave: "touch it touch it!!"
Sajam: "yeaahh... it's hard"
oh boy LUL
Please consider framing the scene a little different, tilt the camera down a little maybe? And consider either leaving the fan shadow out of the frame or turning it off maybe? makes it look like the screen is flickering.
Great content, big thanks for uploading :3
STEVE NO TALKIN BOUT THE TURTLE TILL THE ITALIAN STALLION GETS TO SAJAM
Ayayayayayyyyy
I heard on another podcast that the risc gauge will be very important in this GG that is why the blocking in the air wih no FD is not a good idea and players will learn to always FD to avoid the damage of a high RISC gauge combo
If you do a long podcast in the future with multiple talking topics, I do highly suggest writing some timestamps out.
Not to encourage that kind of behavior, but that story of Steve and Rip on the plane was hilaaarious
:( the only one you will ever do in person?
I dislike podcasts personally, this one was probably the only one I actually was looking forward to it, since you were both together for real.
We got some jojo talk?
Edit: 41:10
Wow Steve converted another one
What a beautiful Duwang this has become *chew*
He is not ready for Vento Aureo though. That arc hits rough in the heart.
The turtle spoiler oh no.
Part 3's genre is comedy
YEEEESSSSSS!!!
Im incredibly concerned about the lack of oki or substantive combos (you know what I mean) or the change to instant block.
This sounds like fewer options and as a result less fun
I dont care if the game is currently in an acceptable state, we should strive (...) to hold GG to a higher standard, because the last game was at a higher standard.
Also Steve and sajam WOULD FUCKING LOVE BAKI
I feel slightly better about Guilty Gear Strive now
I would suggest you get some lamps or something from around the house. The lighting was my only big problem with the podcast.
Yes the Korean Soundtrack was soooooooo good. Millia's was the best but man there were so many gems on that soundtrack.
If you get some foam acoustic panels, it should fix the audio.
they def showed the 'fast RC' in the very first reveal.
You should just do it in your room, have Stu sit on the bed or something.
The GGPOdcast
54:35 Demon Slayer hype
Well, if technodrome is in the next one I might watch it. Good story
Dont get why ppl are fearful this engine may disappoint when "YRC and FRC" styles Romans exists
Hey it's that guy from outcast
