Being a high-performance mechanic for over 20 years, Grounds are the first thing I look for in any electronic problem in a vehicle. I have seen where people have gone freaking crazy with grounds and have caused them issues and on the other hand, people not using grounds properly or just the lack of grounds. So just my opinion always chase grounds first.
I’m curious on the details of the motor build. What cam specs, any head work done, stock pistons and rods? Header pipe diameter, and so on. Stock compression?
Nothing in this motor is factory. It has a billet crank, caps. Rods and Pistons are aftermarket, pretty sure the heads are ported. Don't remember if the camshafts where aftermarket. It's sleeved ,all the goodies
The GT500 stock motor is just a cross plane version of the Voodoo. Once you go cross plane you can bore and stroke it a little bit more. Then add forged rods/pistons and as much boost as you want.
@@walk4348 The GT500 stock motor is more than just a cross-plane crank version of a stock Voodoo engine. The compression ratio is different, the GT500 has a beefier engine block and the GT500's rotating assembly is stronger.
@@walk4348 There's a significant difference in engine compression ratio. GT350 is 12:1 and the 2020+ GT500 is 9.5:1, that's a big difference. The GT500 engine block is also stronger to withstand boost.
I might be alone in this, but I honestly prefer only using a single forced induction type on a motor, purely to avoid heat soak issues. Yes, you could run both a true intercooler and an aftercooler, but that adds such a ridiculous amount of weight and size that you're better off just pushing either the supercharger or the turbo harder instead. Also, rally-style antilag would sound mean as hell on something like this.
@@griffinfaulkner3514 you're wrong, neither would work very hard on that kind of setup. A huge turbo running like 6 lbs of boost and a supercharger running a six 6 lb boost wouldn't be 16+ lbs of boost minimum. You're actually raising the efficiency of the sc. That being said, it's complicated to tune and it will still make less HP than a turbo setup running the same amount of boost because the sc will still be robbing some off of the crank. It would drive crazy good though. As for heat, the A2W should be able to handle that amount of heat since the boost would be really low for both.
@@_illtal The extra weight and potential packaging issues are still there, and if you're going for the kind of numbers I think they're going to end up with, heat is definitely going to be an issue. I'd rather not cook the rotors on my supercharger if I can avoid it, which requires a true intercooler.
If we are going this far there's nothing stopping us from using methanol to cool the charge directly. The weight of this kind of setup is going to be similar to the weight of a complete ( no dumps) twin turbo setup. But as you've noted, for simplicity I would choose a twin turbo setup with an a2w manifold setup.
I have a 2015 GT Convertible, the only thing I have changed is oil & filters. I was shocked when it did 160 mph and still pulling strong when I backed off. Looked into the gearing and found it has a tall rear end gear, a 3.23 I think, and wondering if that's how it pulled that off. I wonder WHY Ford put such a tall rear end in the convertible. The top was down when I made that pull too. Handled perfectly with complete confidence. I wonder if it's worth putting twin turbos on it to make it a true sleeper. Any thoughts are welcome!
You can def. hear when something went wrong. 1320 package needs to be a thing! I will def. be taking my GT500 to PBD ... in the couple years from now that I can actually own one. I will also probably be coming to PBD for my gen 1 3-2-1 swap vortech j7jtb build I have going on sometime in the next year. I still love that velocity blue so much....
Great find on the ground. Seems whenever there's a problem on a car or boat it's on the ground side of the circuit. I'm sure once you guys get the clutch figured out the car will certainly make the numbers.
Ford really needs to release all the software for the TRANS so the calibrators can get after it with this transmission. When they start breaking them then we will know that full access has been released or close to it.
Been waiting for this on project overkill, Wow 1400 RWHP, but sad to say it comes with problems on this project on one time full send race setup. But you guys will figure out all the bugs, and fully send it. Can't wait to see the 1600 RWHP mark, if the trans will allow it. Great job guys.
