Not only an amazing drummer but one of the nicest person I have ever met.
Technical prowess and sheer musicality. Dirk stand easily among the greatest metal drummers out there imo.

Holy crap I forgot that my mouth was open in awe the whole time lol. the short lived beat @3:35 is incredibly awesome, I can barely tell what he's doing but it sounds amazing! His left hand alone could put most drummers to shame lol

That's the infamous Dirk blast. No mention of the incredible stick recovery at the end of that, happens so fast it's hard to even notice.

Dirk's drumming is what made Soilwork really pop! Such moves.
yeah he really helped them reach a new level. I had started to lose interest after Figure Number Five, but when I heard Stabbing the Drama I was blown away. I don't think I'd heard drumming like that before.
His work with ABORTED "Goremageddon" is legendary. Fvckin' groovin' in higher tempos, one of the best.

I still dont have a clue about how he does all of that. Have you guys checked his drumming in Juular from Devin Townsend? Its the most alien shit ever. Almost ponitless of being so bizarre. Dirk sets the bar tooooo high.

I've always been a Soilwork fan....but Dirk just throws the band over the top...thanks for sharing this video....I listened to the song and thought, wow, thats alot of stuff Dirk has going on, but now watching the video....i give up attempting to play along to it...haha geeeez!

I guess I'm the only one to notice the stick drop at 3:41. It happens so fast and recovery is perfect! I'm upset Soilwork will no longer have his amazing presence behind the kit. New drummer is good, but Dirk is Dirk. Nobody can play extreme metal while still maintaining the groove and flow like Dirk does. Absolute beast!!!

The Nikxu It's always fun to see different kit set ups and see how others play. It gives you ideas sometimes.
Thats so true, when i look at someone's set-up, i think what i could take to my own kit from that(not like stealing physically :D) but for example Mr. Peter Wildoer's bell placing is something i think everyone should take a look at!
I took a lot of in influence to my kit from Ken bedene (aborted) and Blake Anderson (vektor). Their kits are simple yet they can just shred so well
I would put the snaredrum quite a bit higher as well, but this just proves how subjective kit setups are.

im sure that kind of guys practiced 8 hrs a day.
My dad actually knows him (not good friends or anything, but he knows Dirk's wife from somewhere) and he says that Dirk practices an hour minimum every single day, no exceptions. I'm sure there are plenty of days where he goes way over that though!

He and Kiko Loureiro both. I can understand it might be a dream come true for these musicians to actually make a fortune doing what they love by playing with a band as famous as Megadeth. But my god...Mustaine is just so outclassed by these two guys. Completely wasted talent, no doubt.
