I love that you experiment with different plantings and show us success and failures. I my favorite in this area was the King Tut last year - it was a cool plant!
Good morning...I have the pleasure to live within a few miles of your parents nursery..went there yesterday!! They had their new shipment in for fall and everything looked amazing..walked out of there with some gorgeous plants and also some fall seeds that I will be planting today. All of your knowledge, wisdom and PASSION has inspired me like no other! I can even say that you have caught my husbands eye as well and he is starting to get into the flowers/trees/shrubs just as much as he is w/his grass. Our grass always looks great I will say! So thank you Laura and Aaron, you have brought a calming and joy into my life w/my garden that I did not know even existed. Have a blessed day............
Thank you Laura for your gardening enthusiam. I have been following garden answer for six months now and have planted many of your containers and plant suggestions with much success and compliments!!!!
Tangerine slice appeal was promoted as a new release for 2018 but I never saw it anywhere for sale. I looked to buy it online but it was never available. I suspect it was only available to select professionals. An excellent alternative was Thunbergia Arizona Glow. Same color and an excellent performer..I will use it again next year.
Thank you, that was the only area missing from your garden tour, that I was still curious about. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has some issues in the garden. This year, this area is lovely, but last year's King Tut was my favorite. Looking forward to next year in this area. Thx 4 sharing! 😊
I had planted these last year as well as this year and I must say they are one of my favorite plants when planted in bunches. The color is absolutely gorgeous I love that purple. The bees and bumblebees and butterflies absolutely love these plants. Thank you so much for all your help.
Thank you for showing the good and the not-as-good! That’s the kind of thing that happens to all of us so it’s encouraging to see you keeping it real. It’s helpful to us to hear what the possibilities are, for what happened.
Thank you so much for these update videos. I stumbled across the planing of this one when looking for information about sweet potato vines but kept watching. Loved the bamboo trellises. Of course after it was over I wondered how it did and sure enough here is a link to the update :)!! You guys are awesome. My patio and small yard have never been so beautiful thanks to all of your inspiration ❤️ so thanks so much for what you do. 🤗
Hi Laura Your garden is absolutely beautiful! And I really enjoy your videos. Regarding your 2 end obelisks. They're planted quite close to the willow tree, which needs gallons of water. Could it be that the roots suck all the water from the plants nearest to it? Anyway, just a thought.
I planted Black-eyed Susan vines and some grow vines and no flowers at all and the other plant grow vines and flowers. I'll try again next year. I treated both the same, but it was a very inexpensive and still fun. Marie
I think this is absolutely gorgeous. I have just recently purchased a Thunbergia Alata. We live in Edinburgh Scotland and the temperatures have been very cold over the past week.due to this I have been forced to take my little vine indoors
The other day you wanted suggestions of a wood playset for your son. I think this set, which is located on the Walmart website, would be a nice selection. Backyard Discovery Tanglewood Cedar Wooden Swing Set. This set would give your son the opportunity to grow with the available activities. A toddler swing could be put into placed so your son would have a safer experience.
Clearly the drip tubing watering system is the way to go. I'm finally getting it!!!! LOL. It's on my list for next year's gardening to put the entire garden and shrubbery on drip tubing. I can see what a difference it makes. Thanks for sharing. 🌻💕🌿
I want some black eyed susans this summer. This might go well. I did plant sweet peas and honeysuckle near each other to combine on the trellis. Hope it works. I Do love flowering vines, some of my favs.
Wow that looks gorgeous, so cool! It has a "natural" appeal to it. I've grown this type of combo for a few years, but next year I think I will try to use a teepee. Mine do tend to outgrow their trellis.
I have those same salvias. I bought my home last July and they were small mounds with the beautiful flowers. Now they are about 3 feet tall or more with the beautiful flowers. They grew fast ! I was thinking about moving them in favor of a gardenia that I could smell near the patio but I feel guilty bothering them while they are so beautiful.
I suspect the other comments are correct - the willow is probably sucking up more water, and possibly shading that section, plus if there's more wind at that end... Very pretty though!
Pretty area to add a few pumpkins. I said this when you planted them and now that I see how they have grown, pretty fall area and pumpkins would look pretty there. Hugs!
Hiii guys! I love you’re channel. Was wondering if you guys can make a video about ornamental grasses their care and show the ones you have around please and thank you !
Your vines as so much better than mine which are looking a bit pathetic in comparison although I have the excuse of living in England on the east coast so perhaps a little too breezy at times. I have been waiting for the update on the vines but it has left me a tiny bit envious lol.
=Great video and I love to see how things don't always work out, even for you guys!!!! We actually planted some Black-Eyed Susan vine from seed and they didn't do well at all but I am pretty sure it's because they were not getting enough sun and water. Now we know and will put them in a different spot next year!
I’m waiting like crazy for this video update. Awwww I’m so glad you uploaded this video Laura. Look at the combination and how beautiful just like you Laura. Whatever you do is the best best and the bestest (though there is no such word)👍👍👍 Love you 😍
So beautiful love the two together love salvia. How is your friend doing with her treatments keeping her in our prayers 🙏🏼 God Bless you & your beautiful family
I love the combination of planting and I love drifts of plants and a limited palette. So much more effective. I also find your findings really helpful. Could you please tell me how many Thunbergia plants you put in per obelisk? I have grown this and I want to plant it with a deep purple morning glory.
Have you considered changing the hardscape? If the path is not used maybe remove the stones? In the area of the two kidney shaped areas of lawn maybe remove the huge section of stone between the lawn area and the kidney shaped islands. There is so much area taken up with stone, is your lot large enough to support that much stone hardscape? I have a 20 acre lot and that would be on the high side of hardscape for my lot.
I love this look, just like all of your other projects. Those bamboo tee pees are so neat! I’m rocking my Garden Answer t-shirt on my day off today :) happy Friday
Goooodmorning!!!! Oh it looks beautiful💜🤗. I’m so embarrassed to say that I still have our black eye Susan’s in their nursery containers becouse I’m not sure where to place them becouse of lighting. Iv been testing different areas and if put in full sun all day they scorch. Then I hear they love full sun 🤔. So Iv decided to wait a little for temps to drop and finally put in our big window container I’ll use them as spillers their is sun but gets a break later in the afternoon. I love the two colors I have lots of purple and want to add orange for fall. Laura any advice on my black eye Susan’s greatly appreciated! You have really outdone yourself it’s beautiful!!!!💚💚💚💚💚💚
Hi Laura and Aaron. First I have to say I am fairly new to you're videos but have learned so much! I have a question about lupin's. I planted three in a half barrel and they did awesome. But this year all the leaves aquired a gray dusting on all the leaves. I have tried and tried to get rid of it without success. And my lupin's have only produced four flowers. I made a lot of help, do you have any suggestions of what different like it do? Thank you so very!! 😊
Hi all your videos are really awesome but the way this one started out was my favorite because usually when you say "hi guys how's it going" it gets cut off at the start. It's probably youtube's fault but usually I hear "-iy guys how's it going" or "-s how's it going". but this one started off with something nice first and gave the video enough time to start before talking so nothing got cut off
These black eyed susans take off well when up agsinst fence, i have sunset orange, whites, & lemon yellow, i wanted pink ones though cant find them anywhere.
I planted Thunbergia last year but in shaded spot, it had large growth, but not a lot of blooms, acctualy it had so much growth that it overgrown trellis by double, I assume they needed more sun.
I have heard that black eyed susans dont like wind for some reason. So that might be the reason. We ones planted them on a windy spot aaand yeah.. they didnt like it...
And three years later, that same spot is troublesome I have noticed. The hydrangea's Laura planted in that very same bed, have that same trickle down effect....Wonder what is causing that?
The Black Eyed Susan leaves on mine are drooping and falling off. The pot is small (about six inches tall and six inches in diameter) and the plant is about two feet high. The drooping leaves on the plant are not brittle. I water it 2-3 times a week. Am I over watering?
Hello, i love your videos. i just started watching . I'm not really good with plants and i was wondering if you could give me some pointers or ideas. Thanks
I love that you experiment with different plantings and show us success and failures. I my favorite in this area was the King Tut last year - it was a cool plant!
Thanks for showing us the successes and the “so-so” ones. I felt encouraged and motivated to keep trying until I find successes with my planting.

This is pretty, but the bubblegum and the king tut grass is still my favorite

This bed looks so whimsical 🧡
Again love when you share something beautiful, new to you and not everything works. So very helpful! 💜🌿
THANK YOU FOR ALL WAYS REMEMBERING TO UPDATE US ON UR PAST PROJECTS! Most other channels simply forget to show us the project updates
I love when vines are allowed to do their own thing.
Good update, please let us know what you discover about the plants on the end that did not perform as well as the others.
J. M. My diagnosis is that the roots of the Willow tree are under the end of the garden bed, and stealing most of the water.
@@yoyollama5194 Ohh, yeah, I bet that's it.
I love how you try different things in this bed every year.
Thank you for showing the good and the not-as-good! That’s the kind of thing that happens to all of us so it’s encouraging to see you keeping it real. It’s helpful to us to hear what the possibilities are, for what happened.

Ok, this one surprises me given how much Laura likes a neat and tidy garden. This is definitely au naturel. Wild and free. A contrast for sure.
Hi Laura
Your garden is absolutely beautiful! And I really enjoy your videos.
Regarding your 2 end obelisks. They're planted quite close to the willow tree, which needs gallons of water. Could it be that the roots suck all the water from the plants nearest to it?
Anyway, just a thought.
I'm definitely saving this video in my garden folder for the 2020 season. Must plant this combination! Thank you Laura.🙂
Love the lacy effect of the vines on the gravel!
I planted Black-eyed Susan vines and some grow vines and no flowers at all and the other plant grow vines and flowers. I'll try again next year. I treated both the same, but it was a very inexpensive and still fun. Marie
Omg it’s better than I thought!! i hope my seeds sprout so bad. WOWWWW
Love your video. Just perfect for showing the real outcome of the plants growth and learning to understand what’s caused it. Love your show.
I love these Rockin Purple Salvia. SInce they are perennials, may i know what happened to them after the season?
I think this is absolutely gorgeous. I have just recently purchased a Thunbergia Alata. We live in Edinburgh Scotland and the temperatures have been very cold over the past week.due to this I have been forced to take my little vine indoors

Love the Black-Eyed Susan on the teepee trellis.
I planted the black eyed susan vine this year too and just love them! They are a new favorite of mine now.Got the idea from Laura of course :)

The Black-Eyed Susan Vines are on my wish list for next year. I love this project.

I was thinking about moving them in favor of a gardenia that I could smell near the patio but I feel guilty bothering them while they are so beautiful.
I LOVE both of those! I grow Susan vines every year, and I have that type of salvia this year.. It's gorgeous.. so easy to care for
I suspect the other comments are correct - the willow is probably sucking up more water, and possibly shading that section, plus if there's more wind at that end... Very pretty though!

Thank you for panning over and showing the rest of the bed even if it wasn’t as successful as you had hoped.
‘The hummingbirds love it’, something I will never be able to say in U.K. So jealous! Love your videos. 🇬🇧🌼🌷🇬🇧
they're beautiful. what happens to them after their season is over?

it all helps out when you show us what you like

Oh my goodness the salvia is gorgeous! Very nice combination guys! 😘❤
Could be a combination of shade cast by the willow and water being used by it too
Love the color combination. This would look so sweet with pumpkins mixed in for fall.
So beautiful love the two together love salvia. How is your friend doing with her treatments keeping her in our prayers 🙏🏼 God Bless you & your beautiful family
Elizabeth Blanch Her friend passed away a few weeks ago. 😔
So sad!!!
Love the colors. Have to find the container videos you referred to.
I love the combination of planting and I love drifts of plants and a limited palette. So much more effective. I also find your findings really helpful. Could you please tell me how many Thunbergia plants you put in per obelisk? I have grown this and I want to plant it with a deep purple morning glory.
I've been wanting to repeat this combo in my landscape next year and have been waiting for an update. I loveeee the wines progress
I would love suggestions on planting a cutting garden.
I always enjoy watching your videos the first thing in the morning. It gets my day off to a good start!
Wow love the combo and the flowerbed beautiful ty for sharing
Very informative update. I think I will try the thunbergia next year. Looking for a vertical space filler.
Love the orange black flowers and the salvia.
I will try next spring. It is perennial or annual.
Just when I think Ive seen my favorite, you seem to show me another. Love the teepee trellis
Love the black eyed Susan vines!!

Yay ive been waiting for this update since you planted this up!!
Wowsa 😃 I love these flowers !!😊 how lovely🐦👒📹🎑🌻💞💞💞
Do these plants SELF SEED, coming back next year? Thank you for another great update.
I love that vine. Unfortunately it grows like an invasive pest where I live. I will enjoy it vicariously through this video!
Thank you very much for sharing nice.
Love thumbergia, but mine always get spider mites. Still, such a beautiful plant!

LOL, if I were growing them on my apartment balcony I think I would need to forego the fertilizer. Should labeled "Not for small spaces." 😀🌱
❤ this color combo!

Another home run in this bed.
could you make a video on how to make the bamboo teepee please
Love the updates! Thank you.
Like to get the pink blackeyed susans vines but hard to find.
Hi , i have a jumbo plug of the blushing susan pink variety, do I need to pinch these back to make it fuller and bushier?
Have you ever grown purple hyacinth bean vine ?
Hey Laura, what zone does that vine grow in? Does it come in other colors? Glad to see you have cooler weather can you send some down to Texas?
i moved some of my salvia if you are going to move it when would you do so ? it looks great Laura
Usually better to move most things in the fall/early winter when they're going/gone dormant and don't need so much water.
Always excited to watch your new uploads! 🙂
King Tut and bubblegum best yet.
Meine Note für Dich, liebe Laura 1+++++!!!!!!!

Love your garden and family laura..
From India
How have your hanging strawberry tubes done?
When you say you fertilize every week may I ask how you do that and what you use
I have an orange thunbergia in one of my beds. But I want that one.
Hello, i love your videos. i just started watching . I'm not really good with plants and i was wondering if you could give me some pointers or ideas. Thanks
i loved the king tut grass and bubble gum vista supertunias that you had planted last year more than this project :)
Nursery tour
Love this!
So pretty
the willow could be stealing the water??
