I am Bruce Robert Stuart a 31st generation descendant of Rantlina De Bretagne who was born around the year 960 in Brittany France. I’m also a descendant of Allan Fitz Flaad & Walter Fitz Alan, who are descendants of her also. I’m so glad I watched your video Bruce, I think I’ll be watching many more 🇳🇿❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Love this video, no one on UA-cam has gone this deep into the Breton/Dol roots of the Stewarts. The Stewarts seem to have had some sixth sense on how to survive and make the right connections at precisely the right time. My line of Stewarts came from the Albany line, then went from Ochiltree in Scotland to Athenry in Ireland in the 1600's, then to New Zealand in the late 1800's. So nice to be able to trace it back so far and hear great people like yourself telling tales of my 1000 year old ancestors.
Love your channel mate. Thank you.

It was very well put together indeed! It was very intriguing. I too come from the Albany line, then Lorne/ Innermeath, as well as Ochiltree back to "Innermeath" in the American Colonies. If Fummey has't yet he should do one on Robert 1st of Albany our Grandfather. Now he was an interesting figure in the Scottish political landscape! A real Survivor.

From what I can tell, the Stuart male line was one of the only (if not the only) line who's DNA haplogroup was the indigenous L-21 haplogroup of these Islands. Being that they were not descended from later Germanic or Norse haplogroups who established their own royalties in place of the indigenous old Brythonic & Gaelic lines.
Love your storytelling! I never knew the last high King of Ireland was a Bruce until I watched your videos. I love hearing about the old Gaelic world where Scots and Irish were still kin before the Gaelic cultural erasure/eradication that followed on both Islands. I'd love to see a video on the Irish High king Brian Boru, as he supposedly had connection with Scottish clans who rallied to him in defense against the Vikings. He was referred to as emperor of the Scots so I'm curious how well connected Alba and Éire were in history.

The real question is, where did descendants of some of the Stewart clan end up today? My husband is a descendant of a Stewart enslaved in the colonies after the Battle of Dunbar in 1650. The ship, Unity, landed in Ipswich in 1652, with Alexander, Duncan, and James Stewart. According to accounts from another of the Stewart kin, these were three of many sons of Alexander, 4th of Invernahyle. They were listed as a group who showed to sign up as soldiers for the Scotts. Of the many battles fought during the time, where did they get scattered to? It's obvious that some made their way to other parts of the world, but what of the histories they leave behind? My husband's DNA ties into the Royal Scottish lines, even into the ancient kings. What was more interesting was tracing my own roots into the direct lines of the Sheffield houses of England who tied into the Tudor lines. Now there was a scandalous history, no?

Very good about the early Stewarts and their FitzAllen forebearers but I wish you had detailed a bit more about Marjorie Bruce Stewart whose own mother died either in childbirth or shortly afterwards and wound up being a prisoner to the English for some years before she was brought home and married off to Walter Stewart. Then, too, she herself supposedly died after the horse she rode on threw her off while she was heavily pregnant and it's possible that her son Robert was born via Caesarian section after her own death! Anyway, she was the one the dying James V referred to when he found out that his wife Mary of Guise had born a daughter.' It came with a lass and will end with a lass' (thinking that his daughter would be the last Stuart monarch but Mary, Queen of Scots was NOT- however her great-great-granddaughter Queen Anne WOULD be).

My grandmother's maiden name was Stewart. I was able to trace that family back to New Jersey in the 1750's. Couldn't go back any further than that, so I don't know what part of Scotland they came from. 😑 Anyway, thank you for this video! You are correct, you don't see many videos about the beginning of the Stewart line (I always figured that they originated as stewards, because of the name).
