One of the things that amuses me most about this game is if you get injured, your health goes down... but your health meter and your hunger meter are the same thing - so if you literally get hit by a meteor, it won't kill you, it'll just make you hungry.

    Parts Per Quadrillion, Trillion, Billion, and finally Parts Per Million;

Jack the best advice anyone can give you for this game is that the power generation equipment can be built ANYWHERE on the planet and you still get the power. I have all mine about a 2 minute walk away from my main base. The same goes for all the atmosphere generating equipment, build it wherever you want to, some of the things can be outside instead of inside too.
I hope you love this game too it really gets interesting very quickly after you get a stage or two in!

    Helpful tips:
    1) For oxygen, heat, and pressure they use real world units like ppm (parts per million, and the "m" can be "b" for billion, "t" for trillion, etc.). Heat is in Kelvin ("p" is picokelvin, also nano, micro, and millikelvin), and pressure is in Pa (Pascals, again with pico, nano, micro, and millipascal measurements). Every 1,000 of one unit kicks it up to the next level; so 1,000 mPa becomes 1 Pa.
    2) "Ti" is "Terraformation Index" which is basically just a combined measurement of all the other things like oxygen, heat, and pressure.
    3) Power sources like windmills and solar panels generate power everywhere. It's one shared power grid, not seperate for each base. Everything wirelessly draws power from anywhere on the planet.
    4) Special resources are found in special biomes (like subnautica) so if you're looking for iridium, aluminum, or anything else and not seeing it, you need to explore new areas until you find it.

It's weird to me that they went with Kelvin. Surely BTU's would have made more sense. I mean, you fully terraform the planet and you've increased the temperature by 1 Kelvin? That's just so silly. According to that it's almost exactly the same temperature at the end as it is at the beginning.
Units of Kelvin are the exact same size as units of Celsius. So this is like if you or I saw that it was 7 degrees outside and decided that that was suicide to go out in, then it went up to 8 degrees and we're like, "Ah, paradise."

@@anthonybowman3423 Yeah, a lot of the measurements are super confusing. Pressure is a bit low on the scale, too. Hey Jack, just wanted to say that I have played this game before and you would not believe how many hours I spent on it (most of the time I was just sleeping darning playing and letting it run all night) But here are a few things you need to know.
First the map is giant and I mean it, each area on the map has regular ores you find at the start but also you can find more things you think are rare at the start of the game, there are loads of stuff in them with mainly one ore, you can also find aluminum near crash sites(you missed two on the ground at both ship crashes)
There are hidden golden chest/boxes placed in places you won't think something would be, they have golden statues and op plants you can use instead of those other plants, also each plant gives you a boost, the starter one you find is equal to bad, the golden plant however has a GIANT boost.
The uranima comes in handy with energy later on as you saw with the uranium power generator, also that "colosseum" rock place near the second ship you found is a maze and is better if you have a jetpack and the agility boots, It also does has stuff in the middle so don't worry about that.
There are secrets you will find and others you will be pointed to, also if you saw down in the bottom left corner, you find that there are coordinates that show you your location on the map, so keep that in mind.
Also the blue sky is not the last thing you need to do, you will get to the point that you see plants growing around the world and also water filling up in that place you built in (Best thing to do is move to the rocks leaning against each other or past that) You will also find life like fish and insects coming into your world from out of nowhere, which I will love to see your reaction to seeing those in your future part 2 or 3 of this.
The blue sky comes first, then rain, then plants, and so forth, you have NOT seen the last of this game, I can tell you that much, you are not even 1/20 of the way done so hope you enjoy the game and hope to see your next video of this.
(I know there is a possibility you won't see this comment but I am still happy to help you out, I have watched your videos for years and have loved them for so long so hope I can help with this info)

I've been playing this since the early demos and I have a bunch of tips for you! Some of these could be considered minor spoilers but only for the early game.
    Base building tips:
    - Move your base. No spoilers, but you don't want to stay at the bottom of that basin.
    - If you go east until the ground levels out, anywhere at that elevation or higher is a good choice for building (the temporary base you built near that wreck is at the right elevation).
    - I always build my base just past the big slab of rock leaning against a rock pillar that looks like |\ personally.
    - Give yourself a LOT of room to expand. Bases can get massive!
    - There's no range on power, so you can build things as close or as far away from power sources as you want.
    - Solar panels work at night.
    - Deconstructing gives back all materials used.
    - You can name storage boxes and lockers.
    Other tips:
    - Meteors will do damage if they hit you, but they won't damage your base.
    - Meteors spawn resources.
    - There's different types of meteor showers. You'll know when you get a special one.
    - Keep an eye on your environment. There are some gradual visual changes as you continue to terraform.
    - The map is a lot bigger than you think it is!
    - The progress screen shows the % to your next terraforming stage, not the whole game.
Resource gathering tips (skip if you want to explore and find them yourself! I'm only including the ones you need at the start):
    - Aluminium spawns to the right of that second wreck you found (if you're facing it from direction of your drop pod)
    - Iridium spawns to the left of the second wreck. Look for the falling sand.
    - Aluminium also spawns just past the second wreck, but it's a maze so watch your resources.
    - Your best bet for Uranium early game is by finding it in storage boxes.

I think part of what makes the loop in subnautica work so much better is that it very quickly makes moving around to get the things you need much easier... upgraded flippers almost instantly, upgraded O2 quickly, seaglide, seamoth, etc. The progression doesn't feel like a hinderance just to create a longer game. Everything leads to something else in a very logical way even if you don't know what's coming next, and it presents you with hints and clues as to what you're supposed to be doing constantly. Eg. radio signals, the aurora danger notifications, etc.

    0 Kelvin being absolute zero, or -273.15 Celcius, (-459.67 F), and 1 Kelvin being -272.15 C (-457.87 F)
1 picokelvin is equal to 0.001 nanokelvin, 1 nanokelvin is equal to 0.001 microkelvin (μK), and 1 microkelvin is 0.001 millikelvin, or mK. From there I think it goes to cK and then dK, Centi and Deci respectively before finally hitting Kelvin.

Alright, Jack. I'm a somewhat experienced player for the beginning of Planet Crafter, so here are my tips to start off:
1: Don't build anything permanent in the ditch you started in. Later in the game, if you stay there, you will lose almost everything. Not going to go further than that.
2: You can build terraforming structures and power sources anywhere you want, without having to worry about something being too far, other than the long trip there.
3: Try to be self-sustainable as soon as possible, as you will soon run out of space food kinda quickly. Not at the beginning, but best to try and get food growers so you can survive, although they take a LOT of energy. Also, space food gives the least amount of health back than other food.
4: Stock up on ice. As the game progresses, ice will be more and more rare, and soon, all ice will disappear. So until you can gather straight up water, stock up on ice.
5: Have an organized storage. You gather a ton of materials quite fast, and you can easily lose track of what you do and don't have. It also doesn't help that materials can't stack.
6: ALWAYS cash in blueprints. Blueprints from microchips are crucial to progressing smoothly. Without some of the blueprints, there are HUGE gaps in progression.
7: Explore. There are different areas in Planet crafter, with some areas dedicated to a specific material. Some focus on iridium, while others focus on aluminum, etc. etc.
8: Search for golden crates. You already encountered the regular crates, which have some materials in them already. But hidden around the map, there are rare golden crates that have two guaranteed items, plus some randomized rare materials. One of the guaranteed item in golden crates is the golden seed, which has O2 structures progress at 600% the normal rate.
Those are my main tips, and if you follow them, they will help out a TON in the early game.

I would add to deconstruct any crate u come across and empty. Even if u dont want the iron from the crate itself just removing it from the world makes sure u wont run into boxes u have already looted. There are ways to kinda cheat the O2 but in the beginning having a few O2 bottles when doing a longer run is a neat trick. The ice part is irrelevant becouse u will unlock water collecters before the ice melts away.

Man this game is really popping off. I've seen so many people start playing it! I started while it was still in early access. A few tips to you Jack:
    1. Various "seeds" has various modifiers. The lirma seed has none while the shanga and pestera has. I don't recall the specifics but these modifiers are annotated as "150%" or "300%" on the item. That means they give a higher generation bonus. So rarer seeds = higher oxygen generation. The food seeds doesn't have that, however various food saturate better than others. Green beans almost fills up your hunger bar while mushroom only gives a little. However in the end you'd want to grow all foods because they're used in different recipes. Also gold versions are the best! They can only be found in rare golden chests or from secret recipes though.
    2. Rare minerals are often found in caves. The large cave with the sand fall in front has iridium and osmium laying about. Iridium, Osmium, Zelotie, Super alloy and Uranium are primarily found in these sort of "ore caves". That said, most caves are blocked by ice that needs a certain heat threshold to be reached before they melt.
    3. Aluminum can be found in some biomes laying about, but not all. However that weird biome you saw, that's where you can mine aluminum with a T1 Ore Extractor. Aluminum can occasionally arrive in meteors aswell.
    4. As in Subnautica, resources gathered from the ground does not respawn. However meteors tend to bring resources with them. The meteors also scale with your TI (Terraforming Index). Early on it's base minerals but in the mid-game you get Osmium, Sulfur and Aluminum while in the end game you get Super Alloy and Pulsar Quartz.
    5. The blueprint chips are super important! The things they unlock are not in the blueprint tree and some things they give is super good to have, such as a the recycler or trash can. (The trash can is good to have as T1 and T2 Ore Extractors generates stuff you may not want, but takes up space, grinding the extractor to a halt.) Mid to late game you can even get drones to move stuff for you!
    6. There are aliens... but you need to do some exploring first. ;)
    7. You should try to get a food grower as quick as possible. The space food only lasts so long, and there's a limited amount of chests around. The T1 is very slow, but it's better than starving.
    8. A part of the wall surrounding your starting area can be deconstructed to reveal a secret.
Oh and btw, there's an achievement for being hit by a meteor.

You do eventually hit a point in the endgame where a lot of things become automated... but you will still be running around crafting things and exploring.
Edit: Some QOL tips if you want to make a series out of this, or if you keep playing off screen, the CTRL key is your best friend. If you hold ctrl when you build you dont have to reopen the menu each time. Same for crafting, if you hold ctrl when you click to craft, the crafting menu will remain open. You can also use ctrl click to move multiple of the same item between storages. When you explore the map, it is useful to leave some chests unopened for the later game, as very few of the chests have pre-determined contents and are instead generated when you open them, with the contents being determined by your current stage of the game. If you haven't found any golden chests yet, there are around 24 of them scattered around the map with really good resources in them.
Power is a global resource, so you can build your power generating devices anywhere on the map. They do not need to be "attached" to your base.

i think what makes subnautica and this game better than other survival games is the massively lessened grind. instead of standing in front of a single resource node and just mining it for tons of the same thing, you get to explore and search for much smaller amounts of items in more interesting locations, PLUS the elimination of poor placement penalties (ie losing resources when you un-craft something) makes base building fun instead of stressful.

    Some Hints for Seán:
    - You passed near a cliff with dust falling off of it. There are iridium deposits near there.
    - Opposite that cliff, across the open area, is a creepy region with Aluminium.
    - Its helpful to build small bases everywhere. Different biomes may have different resources that you will need, a nearby base is handy for collection and storage.
    - you can build and connect base modules in 3 dimensions, of course. One upgrade is a bigger base room.
    - It's recommended to have your main base on high ground (think of what happens as liquid water starts forming...)

Edit: It's like spoiling every area and what resources are in what area in Subnautica... it would make the game kinda boring to play once its spoiled

Also we dont have to place everything in/on your base lots of things have global range. Heaters and growers give the planet o2 and heat. Not your base. You have a space suit and a base you dont need heat and o2 ,but your tearaforming a planet in needs that o2 and heat to tearaform itself.
