this is the BMTH that I've grown to .... the Count Your Blessing one.. really great album.
You have to admit, even though he did not do it properly, it was a very distinct trashy scream which most people don't do. No matter how he did it, they go big because of it.
This was first song i heard from these dudes back in 2007.... the breakdowns were fookin brutal back then....
Good to see they playing Count your blessings songs in Drop A# !
I love how many people talk about "technique" in screaming like they know anything yet 99% of you aren't even vocalists.
You don’t need to be something in order to understand it. There is obviously technique in screaming.
I belong to that 1% then.
His technique sucks. Its no wonder he tore the shit out of his vocal chords.
With that being said, even good technique is going to give you a sore throat if you do too much.
Do any of you who are trollin' on Oli have ANY idea how hard it is to maintain a voice like his? Screaming and growls are not easy to do. Give the guy a break. He's been doing this for years now. Your vocal chords aren't steal. They do wear and tear. He's still a fantastic front-man.

These guys put on an amazing show. I saw them the other week. I also have videos on my youtube. But besides that point, when you are at the concert you hear no mistakes, you know why? You're having an awesome time!!! I listen to the videos I have on youtube, and like "damn, they weren't as good as I remember" So point being their music isn't awesome, but they put on an amazing show!!!!!!!

I totally feel Oli's pain. Imma vocalist myself and from 13 when I learned how to scream to now being 20 my voice has no where near the range it used to. Like him my deeps are the shit but my high's are out the window. So fuck anyone who thinks he sucks. It's called time has taken it's toll. Look at M. Shadows from A7X or Corey Taylor from Slipknot. You gonna say they suck too? And always remember they are rich and famous. You are not. So go sip ya haterade and call it a day.
Back when bmth was a real metal band and didnt fucking become sellout scene fuck that shit i want the old bmth back they rocked i dont even know if i want to go to a bmth concert anymore because it might be scene infested like wtf bmth was making good money and still when they were screaming
They can't make this music anymore. Oli fucked his voice from smoking, drinking and just not screaming right. It sounded amazing when he could but the reason he sounded good was because he used a different technique, one which ultimately ruined him.

Yes, however, they could easily make this music again if they wished. Not too long ago, Oli screamed Pray for Plagues, Diamonds Aren't Forever and a few other song live.
During the development of Sempiternal, Oli took private vocal lessons and could scream again. They just don't prefer to do so.

Yeah i was there, it was just the best part of this concert at hellfest, but stop saying he fucked his voice, look Matt from Trivium, he fucked his voice, he learned to growl in the good way, it's the same about screaming, just CYB didn't give enough money for them compare to Sempirnal and That's the Spirit.... In my opinion CYB/SS/There Is A Hell was the best period of the band

@shits100 he doesn t take drugs. He drinks alcohol. And alcohol cant ruin your voice. It only can if you are drunken and scream. (for example slipknots corey taylor) But he only screams when he is sober. He just ruined his voice. His pig squeals on the first live shows which are videotaped were pretty much inhaled. Only the pigsqueals. The rest of the vocals are just awsome. Still one of the biggest fans!
@Roqy96 Randy talks about the surgery he had that basically keeps his vocal chords strong as ever. He was bragging about how he got prescribed medical bud to keep the film of mucus in his throat constantly thick. He mentions all that in an interview. Then you have Phil from All That Remains. He's the same if not better than back in the day. I guess you can just call him lucky or the shit. take your pick

well,i started at 13 too and now i'm 18 and my highs are better and better and lows are getting sicker and sicker and the gutturals and the exhale pigsqueals get even more better.And btw, i have nothing to argue about Oli,i fuckin respect him and i am and always will be a huge fan.peace \m/ sstay brutal.

@Shink5 I never said he did, sorry if it felt that way. But he did have problems, with pain etc. I was at a gig where he admitted to it. Anyway, i just meant the ripped vocal chord stuff as, too imagine the pain he can feel when he screams kinda thing. And to be completely honest. I left this comment what 7 months ago? @sickbeast09 Come On Man there are older deathcore/deathmetal bands and they still rocking like Job For A Cowboy or Dying Fetus, those guys are HEAVY, I used to love BMTH But they're not even good metalcore on these days, for metalcore check Parkway Drive or I Killed The Prom Queen (Weinhofen's older band)
@sickbeast09 Dude, I will never say on a CD Oli's vocals don't sound good... Because they do... But if you have ever heard, lets say Diamonds Aren't Forever... There are probably 3 vocal tracks going at once and they are all him. He sets himself up for failure by making his vocals way harder than they need to be. Which is why we all think he sucks live. That and he can't even do chelsea smile all the way through.

Most screamers end up fucking up their voice after extended sets. Now take into effect the fact that Count Your Blessings came out in 2006. and they were doing stuff from that album live BEFORE the release, since their demo is in 04. 5 years doing all that screaming? Even if he wasn't damaging his voice that's a long history doing shows 4-5 times a week.

this live performance was less than great ._. but that doesnt mean they suck live. they are AMAZING live its just this performance and a few others that suck :P

It is obvious that he didn't have professional techniques for growls and screams before he took lessons from Melissa Cross in 2011 and/or 2012. Moreover, he never warmed up before a show.

@ItsAlxDee I wouldn't call what he's doing in part of Suicide Season and the new CD exactly screaming buddy. Notice in Football Season is Over he's got some good "Screams" kinda like back in CYB. I saw him live, gotta say he hasn't lost any of his voice. When he played Pray for Plagues it didn't sound different. It sounded amazing.

Yeah, tbh the best part about old BMTH is the moshability of it. Instrumentally they were wicked, lyrically they gave no fucks, and all-in-all they were a good party/moshing band. Their vocals were never good, but back then simplicity was easy to appreciate.
You have no idea what your talking about. ALL the other albums are all just production work. The first was raw and Oli was THE BEST screamer capable of performing ANY scream imaginable on the first official album. Relisten to his range in variations on Count Your Blessings. The instruments showed us their talents too. I love every album of theirs but the first will always be the BEST since it was raw and and not so heavily produced/edited/FX/added miscellaneous instruments/ect... As an artist myself I can defiantly see the approach and reason behind band movements
he sounds ill to be fair and his new style of vocals sound so much more natural don't get me wrong deathcore yes is amazing but his new vox are sik!

Fairly average performance at least they aren't slipping out of time as much as they used to i wish they kept their technicality it would of balanced out the new vocals and made the new music more listenable

Oli's fucked up voice is no excuse for them to not play any of the Count Your Blessings or Suicide Season stuff. For example Slipknot. Corey Taylor's voice is not as great as it used to be but they still rock the fuck out to the songs of their first and second albums, heavy as shit. CYB and SS are great albums with really good songs, Oli has proven that he can sing them, they could build up great setlists for their most recent concerts, but they end up being mediocre shows that last around 1 hour only with songs from Sempiternal and TTS, that makes them a mediocre band to me.
Fer Raya he's done prey for plagues in concert, but it'd be unreasonable to give fans a shitty performance.
Fer Raya both sound amazing now after healing . Just saw slipknot recently corey sounded better then last few years
They have grown as musicians. "Sempiternal" and "That's the Spirit" are not mediocre.

Many people have told me that he had gargled salt water for thier shows years ago because it makes your throat raw and screams better or some shit. And it basically sped up the damage process by like 3x that's why he does mostly bitch yells on suicide season :/
