- The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is the motorcycle that created the behemoth that the RE today. Its popularity, despite the slow-moving pace of changes, has been how the company went from being a niche player in the premium class to the dominant force in the Indian premium market. From 2009 till now, the Classic 350 has driven sales, profits, R&D investments and lots more. And today is a super important day for Royal Enfield and Eicher Motors. Because today, the all-new Classic 350, featuring the Meteor’s J-Series 350cc engine, takes over from the old one. A legend’s reign ends. And the new King is crowned, hoping to continue its successful rule. Can it? Will it? Do the Honda CB350RS, Highness, Jawa, Jawa 42 and Benelli Imperiale have an opportunity to break the hegemony? Or is it business as usual with the Classic 350 firmly in the driving seat? Shumi finds out as he rides Royal Enfield’s latest (and hopefully greatest), Classic 350.

Wondering why Shumi never spoke about the vibrations? There aren't any!
Royal Enfield just informed us that the Tripper (navigation) will be available as an (Make-It-Yours programme) accessory on the top (Chrome) variant only for now and is not standard. It will become available for lower models later as the chip shortage eases.
@KS Editz And Gaming What to do only!
@@shu_mar is the tripper navigation available as an accessory for lower variants ? I didn't understand it properly
Nothing New 🙄
@@user-ur2gm2bh6o I'm told that Tripper is only on the Make-It-Yours program and only for the top (Chrome) version
@@shu_mar oh nooo 😪
So happy we got Shumi's Review of this new motorcycle.
Thank you Peace Naksomboon!
Nothing New 🙄
Same as old bike...🤷🏾♂️
@@rickseth9155 Only the design. Everything else, *every single thing* is actually new!
Yess !
Changing and updating the CLASSIC might have been nerve wrecking for Royal Enfield. I say they have done a brilliant job and hope it continues to be REs bread and butter.
So do they!
Explaining is an Art,
Shumi is the Artist 👍👍🔥
Thank you Umar!
Cant agree more... This man know how to steal heart with his way of explanation only...
@@Darvesh27 thanks Mitthu!
So new generation Classic is still a classic. 😍
Oh yeah. Even more classic than before in some ways
Was just talking to a friend some days back who was planning to buy the classic 350. Told him about the engine update, calmer character based on the meteor and he said he'd rather buy a bullet now😂😂. The legacy of the "old engine" is truely unmatched.
even the lack of kick highly affect the bike.
I always say to riders like this, "Test ride and decide!"
@@shu_mar absolutely true
@@omprakashsahu4798 Didnt notice that until just now
@Kamal Choudhury Lolwut?
Really loved the -"It looks like the former, but better. It goes like the latter and it's happy!"

Watching this episode even though I am not at all interested in the Classic 350. You guys are a rockstar, specially Shumi. Anything you say seems worth listening to :)
Thank you so much Kushagra!
@@shu_mar aaaqaaqaaaaaaaaaqa
My personal experience with the led’s “strong led” is not so good. I love halogen bulbs as they have higher illumination factor. So I am very glad to see powerful halogen bulb instead of led
I agree. A badly designed LED is useless. But they don't need to be like that!
+1. I had a dominar that’s supposedly has good headlight but it didn’t work for me. It was like normal headlamp unit with oncoming traffic. Heck, the TB350 projector was more clearer at night. So, happy to see a good ol’ halogen
@@sukandanuthayakumar7104 buyers would have loved if the meteor also gets projectors of its predecessor Thunderbird.
And they don't blind you like leds from oncoming traffic.
@@sukandanuthayakumar7104 what are talking dominar's headlight is a normal headlight it is one of the best headlight ever given in a bike in that night illumination is beastly and throw is good not best but road illumination is awesome can recognize small gravels as well
Really love the way powerdrift makes their scripts.. kuddos to team powerdrift.. love every single video of yours
Thank you Navitash!
Thank you for nice video. I thought I want to camp with my bike on the shore of the lake where you were shooting. lol
From a Japanese Royal Enfield rider.
Ahahahaha! Our cinematographer actually did just that!
It looks great, and with this J series engine I know it will be a great ride too. I am a meteor owner and after 14000 km I am in love with this engine and its capabilities. I just hope this new Classic brings in the reliability to meteor too (I did Laddakh in August, without any spare part and didnt face any problem). RE is making some good bikes. Lets the wheel rolling...
It's the same engine so I expect that the C350 will be just as reliable!
@@shu_mar there are three Auto Journalist I really like to see and listen, you, Kartikey and Abhinav.. will be waiting for a detailed review and comparison with close rivals like H'ness, Jawa Classic and Beneli.
meteor was nothing like a royal Enfield I ever rode, it's good
I had the same feeling when I rode the interceptor, hated Royal Enfield until I rode the interceptor and now it's been a year and 11k KMs ok my interceptor. They've upgraded themselves really nicely.
@@adityahari8777 same is the case with me as well. Used to hate and criticized RE but after owning interceptor for almost a year, I can say that RE has changed quite a bit

Greetings from USA. I have a classic 500 and love this bike. Enjoyed your review and thanks for doing it in english. I hope they offer it as a 500cc in the future.
Thank you! A 500 is not on the cards though
You wanna hear a good news...not 500 but they are planning on launching, classic 650 and bullet 650...650cc engine...
Remember folks, it's NOT a performance machine. It's a couch with wheels.
It's a 5D couch, full sensory invasion
This man is explaining in such a way, seems like he is a fan of this bike..😂😂
No, I would never buy it. But I see what they've done, and I love it!
@@shu_mar 👍
This Red chrome is the remake of Deluxe 350 that rolled out during 1985-90. Luckily I have one. Those models had a chrome plated cast iron tear drop pad bolted on to the tank and the ENFIELD monogram above it. Its a rebirth.😍 Job well done Indeed.
Last week, bought the new Classic 350 and its heavenly. the same majestic look and now so much more smooth - u can ride on and on and on...Thanks RE for keeping up to the old design with only subtle changes made..
Thank You Honda Highness for forcing the classic to improve.
Ahahahaha! The Classic project started 5 years ago. The spec was probably frozen over 18 months ago.... draw your own conclusions
@@shu_mar and so hness project ✌🏻
Royal Enfield has really done a good job. Evolution is important for any company and they have done a good job by keeping the retro design intact. 170mm ground clearance is awesome. I still feel it's time to replace the halogen light with a led unit. Waiting for the comparison video with Honda Highness CB 350. I wish RE should come out with a classic with 650cc engine. Nice video Shumi.
Agreed! Thanks Amrit!
using RE classic 350 from 2017 , no complain , just servicing my bike every 6-8month , it's really value for money for me ,
Wow! You sound like you're having a great time!
FINALLY.. FINALLY some one spoke about the new classic's ability to cruise at low speeds in high gear instead of doing chai cup tests.. And I am glad the reviewer also mentioned about the handlebar feel. These two things defined the original g2 bullets as well. It's magic that RE recreated that in a modern classic.
This is a handsome bike! I never thought the RE Classic was a handsome bike before. You're right, the proportions are better.
Once a heartbeat, I started hating the new rainbow coloured one's that meant nothing like the old machines. I'm still not going to buy this updated one, but, this video made me realise ,somewhere deep down, I'm happy .... and puts a smile to my face that this is still alive !
Awesome Ashish!
Honoured to see Barak Obama reviewing RE Classic..
Gotta say the video editors at powerdrift are definitely some of the best editors in production. From the cut shots, cinematics, slow mos, and most importantly music, where to put it, which one to use, and everything else is just inch-perfect💯💯💯
Thank you Anand!
I'm here for Shumi's striking power when it comes to Bikes
Thank you Shyam! And I'm here for bikes!
'The weight of legacy is lighter there. The pressure is to find success, not build up on it' - Shumi capturing us with his words on comparison of the Classic350 with new RE bikes. Love powerdrift, great video.
Thank you Vishnu!
This made me laugh " Technically it's a all new design"
Well, technically it is!
Great review there Shumi, as usual 👍 It seems RE has done the best to keep the Classic a classic but have also made the right improvements. Eagerly waiting for the comparo with its brother (Meteor) 😊
Thank you for taking us to old memory lane
Glad you enjoyed the walk!
A fuel indicator.
You know how many purists argued with me on this? "A true motorcyclist should be able to guess how much fuel he has in his machine..!"
That's utter BS for sure!
Oh well, everyone has their own preferences!
@@shu_mar it definitely is 😂
Who are these purists I bet they're the guys I see pushing their heavy REs
My friend has a standard 350 ,he has called me 4 times in 2 months for fuel 🤣
I was just waiting for Shumi's approval on this bike.
Oh wow! Thanks. I'd say go for it. It's beautifu
2.51 Lakhs ex-showroom for the variant seen here. I am hoping it's a typo. That's a whopping ~2.8-2.9 lakhs on road in many places. Suddenly the Interceptor looks better at that money. Or save a bundle and go for the CB350.
Pricing is too bad...!!!
That was a typo by RE. It's priced at Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 2.51 was a RE typo in their presentation! It's 2.15 for the top model
Schumi - pleasantly surprised and very happy to see how involved you have got into the retro scene - that was a very nuanced beautifully judged review. Thank you.
Thank you Sandeep! My personal inclinations don't get in the way of testing. That's my challenge
The moment I saw shumi just opened the video. What a narration. He is truly young by heart. Thanks for the beautiful review of a legendary indian bike.
Thank you Vikas!
So a worthy successor indeed 🥲
But this time the crown has some SERIOUS contention 👀
It looks like it! Lets see how it pans out
idk why i hate the price its so overpriced
and lastly the headlight idk why doesnt feel like a bullet
But the contenders have been here for over an year and did not dent the original classics sales. Just imagine what this new model will do.. Absolutely loving it 🔥😍
Watching PD gives us both Automotive Info and Life lessons ❤️
Ahaha! 🥂
As always very intriguing content to watch. Great work Shumi 👍

"Pressure is to find success, not to build upon it. And that's the thing about change. It's scary, it is a constant. But if you know what you're doing, it can be managed". Lovely said, looking forward to buy marsh grey color soon.. !
Thank you! Best of luck. As always, trust yourself more than you trust us. Test ride and decide!
Excellent review ... that sums up the new classic 350’s essence
I am happy that they have retained the small out dated elements (e.g. halogen head lamps ) to retain the character of the bike and not chase into something that you find in other modern bikes.
It shows that how much of a clearer picture they had while updating it and not turning it into a wanna be modern retro ...
This is true although I don;'t fully agree with their choices
It shows cost cutting tbvh
waiting to go Ladakh on this Beauty ❤️

You will need to wait 5-6 months to get delivery of this bike!
@@SOUVIK1914581 well considering the demand on classic that waiting period is too short

The Classic 350 defines Royal Enfield as a company
Yes. I think that's why the design is sooooo conservative!

The "J" series engine and you comment reminded me of MiB when J walks into the MiB building for the first time.😃😃
One takeaway from this video is that Hunter, Scram, Cruiser 650 are not too far away because the names are being called out.

And yes Shumi reviewing it.
I can't help notice and say that the cinematographers did a really great job working with so much chromes on the bike. It must have been really tough to film and make sure that they dodge reflections. Kudos to the ace team at PD!

Where is the thump sound 😭 it's no more a classic just decorated to be classic
It's there! It's more muted but it's very much there!
@@shu_mar ohh but won't get the thump sound like bs4 variant right
The actual thumper thump was dead when the UCE was launched. Bs4 version was rattly more than thumpy.
I think this one looks more royal than before....yeah sure they made it look more contemporary with a black scheme in the outgoing model....but there was a lack of that royal sense....with this bike and chrome and everything....it will be something like a ROYAL RIDE when you roll down the road....reminds you of older gen bullet which use to have reverse geared left side engines. AWESOME.
Such a bliss to hear shumi's review 😍😍😍😍🔥🔥
Digging the new designed Insignia on the tank. And gotta admit I've fallen in love with the thumper after riding it extensively for a couple of days. Ofcourse the older BS3 model.
Awesome Shayan!
Seventh!
Cannot wait for these to arrive in US showrooms this season. Very interested in this over the Meteor.
Hardly any reviewers talk about this bike's mirrors vibrating at 80kph speed. Basic stuff that ensures a riders safety is overlooked by RE and reviews.
Great looking bike!

Finally a big step up from the old one
HUGE step up from the old one!

@PowerDrift Did you apply any paint protection or ceramic coating to the chrome variant?
Thank you for such an excellent review.....Great bike.....wonderful way you explained all the information. I will check out your other video's.
Sumi can you do chaai (tea) on it. Because now it cost at the prise of RE Interceptor 650cc.
Not sure what that means. But the price is NOT 2.51 for the top model -- that's a RE typo from their presentation. Actual price for the top model is 2.15. So roughly 70,000 to the INT 650
RE should have retain the legendary kicker.
Why? What do you need it for?
Retro motorcycles are gorgeous in their own way 😍
It's not the BULLET CLASSIC it's METEOR CLASSIC 😭😭😭😭. R.I.P ORIGINAL CLASSIC
Ahahahahaha!
I guess the Top speed is slower than the old one, I own a 2017 classic 350 where I reached max speed of 125ish kmph. But it reaches 120kmph solid.
Wonderful review 😎

Not true! I have regular LED headlights on my Multi that are amazing!
Appreciate ur response mate!!
Just to debate@@shu_mar but the Honda CB350 LED headlights on a classic sulks !!
And most of the companies do not research on LEDs before launching on a product, they give with 6000K and its a damp squib on wet roads and dark thar roads !!
And it glaringly dazzles the opponent too on a high beam!
Thanks for honda and java
for changing Royal Enfield 🤙😂🤣
You'd like to think so. But this Classic 350 was born 5 years ago!
Thank you Shumi, for an excellent review, with superb company strategy insights, and such a beautiful flow of information, leading one thing into another......and all that, without unnecessary acting... simply the best man for this job...you are a superb blend of Dr.Sheldon Cooper and Jeremy Clarkson.
A less chrome-y version of this with an LED headlamp is going to look great! Perfect bike for those who enjoy cruising at normal speeds instead of driving fast.
It's also gonna be very difficult to decide between this and the CB350/RS
Agreed! The lower models (we had the Chrome, top model) do have non-chrome models in there. But an LED head lamp would have been nice!
Cb350 anyday anytime u wont regret
Of course, that's a good bike. But the J series engine and RE's gearbox ratios are more city friendly. One can never go wrong with a Honda, but RE Classic is something of an emotional connection. The Meteor has been out for a while and the reliability concerns of RE seem to be a thing of the past.
Great time for motorcycle enthusiasts all round.

Royal Enfield have so much legacy to defend I think it's one off kind in India and no one can explain them better than this video.
The only plus point in favour of classic 350 over cb350 was a Kickstarter and Spring seat. Now without a Kickstarter, it would make more sense to go with similarly priced Reliable Japanese Honda CB350.
But why would you need a kickstarter at all? Spring seat is in their accessory catalogue BTW
@@shu_mar For situation where you would otherwise need to Push start the bike. Push starting this 195kg machine would not be a pleasure, I guess.
Why filling the pockets of japanese and what's the need to feel inferior on buying Indian brands? This is not 1990's. Get rid of your colonial mindset. Even cd100 is not as tractable as meteor means cd100 needs more gear shifting at City speeds. Rent both the bikes for one day you will get to know what I am talking about. I was gonna buy a white meteor fireball, but now i’ve completely jumped on the classic 350 bandwagon. Chrome red with alloy wheels and bar end mirrors for me :)
I think the changes they brought to this one are good, if you put too much electronics then its not a classic! The reason people buy RE Classics is to stay away from electronics and feel the old ways of riding which i think you can do on this one (speaking as an ex-classic owner). Not so much fan of this chrome one though, loved the signals and the alloy wheels model.
The fact that they launched multiple models for different kind of people is amazing! Everyone is gonna get satisfied i think 😁
(As always, great video by Shumi Sir 👍🏻)

No one talk about resale but thats one of the biggest plus point of Royal Enfield . Since lot of purchases for 35-40 years old guy are impulsive or nostalgic buy.
