yeah..its smart layerd laid back emotional intense and really I forget the main plot and while most episodic shows bore me this ones stand alone cases get me really invested like their minny movies...they really make you think and get invested and by the end you feel like you just had sex or watched a movie..its so amazing how each ep for the most part is different enough to make you care and rarely guess the entire ending accurately...like you may get the motive but now who or who but not the motive or maybe not how they did it or how many ...
I am highly grateful to you for making this video. Detective Conan is such a good series but it's underrated. Thank you for sharing what all DC fans feel to others.
@@dontlookatmyvideoREE yeah, it's actualy also so popular in the middle east if you didn't know we seen it since we were kids and we kept watching since then.
I always wonder why Detective Conan was not popular in the west. It's big here in the Philippines and it's still selling well in Japan as evidenced by the annual movie releases which apparently outsold Avengers Endgame in Japan. I grew up with this anime and I feel like it's one of those series that I don't want to end because it's episodic and very educational. But I do want to see him back as Shinichi. Doraemon and DC are the anime that fulfilled my childhood and teen years. I'm currently rewatching all the episodes and I'm falling in love with this series once again. Truly a masterpiece.
I remember an episode somewhere around the 160-170 range where the kids and the professor go into the prof's aunt's old manor where they try to solve a bunch of sun/moon/star puzzles that are suppose to represent hiragana characters. Imagine you're the localizing team trying to translate that for a western audience. I think having a lot of cultural aspects of the show not being able to be fully appreciated from a western lens was the reason it never got popular in the west.
i noticed that this manga is only underrated by the american aundience i don t why but in spain in the arabic world in a japan and a lot of other countries its so popular but in america its criminally underrated don t why
@NezumiVA come to hink of it that makes so much sense since the only merchandise that is made is from japan not the usa but where i live which is morroco it s an arabic country the anime is so popular there is manga coloring books backpacks bedroom sheets its really crazy
Detective Conan is really REALLY popular in the Philippines too. Its been repeatedly airing early episodes on the main telebisyon channel for years and I’ve started watching it around 2010’s.
Since I've been a long-time fan of Detective Conan, I might not be the target audience of this video, but I still really enjoyed it. Thank you for making such a positive video on this series. :)
I think what I love about conan is its surreal yet real so it doesnt relly on mystical things but more mundane ones to get its points across....it just feels very chill usually...it isn't trying to teach some huge universal truths just giving context to these crimes with a likeable cast
I think a lot of the established audience has probably stuck around, to be honest? Whereas a lot of newer anime fans find anything remotely long to be too much of a commitment, a lot of the time (even getting someone to watch a series that pushes 100 episodes is a difficult task). So unfortunately, I think by virtue of that stipulation alone, a lot of people miss out on it.
@@NezumiVA I agree with you on this, I am more of a new watcher, i started early 2018 (last year) and I just finished episode 345 (omg that was an episode, or more so 6 episodes in one being 2 hours long) but I found it difficult to get into but once I got into it I loved it. Yeah the episode count may be daunting but why learn 30 different plots when you can learn one plot that you know is already awesome
Well, here in Germany Detective Conan was dubbed from 2002 til 2007, and after so much pressure/support by the fans, the series finally picked up again in 2018. There are now 400 episodes dubbed, and it's pretty good!. It's gotten quite a cult following, and I'm glad that there are also people overseas who appreciate Aoyama's masterpiece. Thanks for the video!
Conan is an all-time favorite of mine! Whenever my friends go to Japan, they take pics of all the Detective Conan merch and stuff to show me. I started Conan from the pilot, and I remember being shocked by the amount of blood and gore they were able to get in, in the guise of the Murder Mystery genre. But what I REALLY remember the first Volume I owned. It was Vol. 20 - the Magic Lover's case. I saw it had Kaitou Kid content I hadn't seen before, so I bought it. And it had a complete mystery featuring him... And then the first, unsolved half of a Conan mystery at the tail end of the volume. Of course, I wanted to know what happened next! Several years later, and I owned +50 volumes of the manga and have read 900 or so chapters of the series, in addition to watching the Movies and OVAs. I was happy to hear you express the sentiment that Detective Conan really is the most iconic, incredible detective of our generation. I stan Kudo Shinichi so hard! I love the voice acting cast as well. And the musical score. And how All Out the movies get - I thought it was hilarious the 23rd Conan movie did better in Japan than Avengers Endgame. Ha!
Detective Conan was my favorite show when I was 10-12 years old... Recently I watched a TV special episode on TV by sheer luck, and I was astonished at how fun and thrilling it felt, so I went to the cinema that same week to watch the last movie and started reading some spin off manga from the series. I think I’m gonna read it all, even if there’s more than a thousand chapters, wish me luck. Also, I’m turning 30 this week and Conan is still a kid... I want that drug too
You’re not the only one, I forgot her name but she had a conversation with Haibara about the drug and the ability to make the person younger or something like that... I do too cause just imagine how many generations you can live with that
@@imyourrealsensei3416 Maybe for you, but id prefer dying than experience that pain everytime I take the drug. Pain is felt more when it is expected. I can't deal with that.
The moonlight sonata is still one of my fave cases along with the mountain villa case. Also if your open to fan fiction i can't suggest heavily enough the detective conan Fic the hidden epidemic By Mirror and Image. It is a wonderful piece that i still find my self going back to read.
all the 2 parters in the first few seasons are great but I always found the hospital one where the kid keeps getting presents sent to him cause hes the doctors son and then eventually we find out more about the sad history and why hes doing it and then the ending always gets to me...like wow what a plot twist
I actually became a fan because of my mum, I started reading in 2010? She has a lot of volumes, and surprisingly, finding DC manga isnt that hard in china
mike philip could please tell me which episodes does kogoru solve crimes like solo. I'd like to watch them cuz I havent seen him doin that to be honest. Lol can u please give me some episodes that be does that? Thanks
Redevine Yes he has before, it was around episode 40ish where him, Conan, and Ran are visiting Mouri’s class reunion and one of his guy friend (spoiler) shot & killed his friend girl in a building at a festival.
Thank you, I decided to read Conan from chapter 1 a few days ago and it's been a fantastic ride. I've seen many people suggesting to search and read on the internet only the plot driven chapters (around 200 or so), but I don't think that's the correct way to approach this series and you explained perfectly why: every case delivers a clever and satisfying solution and you never know when the next beautiful emotional moment will come.
@@plsstap8235 I'm basically halfway through. I stopped reading it five months ago, but just because it was becoming almost like an obsession. So far I liked it a lot. I'll probably catch up completely during this summer.
When Detective Conan had a collaboration with the popular game called Granblue Fantasy. I was surprised how well they translated the Detective Conan case structure to it. Detective Conan is a very good manga/anime.
Cannot understand how this series is not well known in the west. When I was young, this series in Algeria and other arab countries was as big as in Japan. I remember when when I used to go home after school and watch it with my parents and siblings, parents seemed to really enjoy it as much as I did. The arabic adaptation was so good, Kogoro became a meme and the first arabic opening was legendary. We were eagerly waiting as to when he tells Ran the truth or when he regains his true form, but little did we know. I feels blessed to have had to watch this series and others such as Hunter x Hunter 1999 when I was young. Those are some memorable moments.
The tense tea party episodes was the only case I ever figured out before Conan, (because I'm a tea snob), and as someone who loves mystery and isn't bad at figuring out culprits in western crime dramas, that says so much to me about how clever Aoyama is with crafting these cases. I love Detective Conan for the intensely smart tricks, the great overarching plot, and the loveable recurring characters. I personally love watching any episode with Heiji, Takagi, or Kaitou Kid, Not to menton Shuichi and Bourbon. 900 episodes and countless movies in, I'm still so excited every time I watch the show.
I meanwhile figured out the case of the three times killed actor. As soon as it was mentioned that all three suspects said they killed the guy, I knew what way up-mainly because a similar crime happened in an old Donald Duck comic. Only there, the actors were kidnapped and not murdered.
man decetive conan is like my first anime ever I watched when I was a little kid mom showed it to me cause she really like the show and oh boy conan been my favorite thing ever since so damn long
@@hodanahmed835 I know right same here, the og hxh was damn good and space toon did a fair job dubing it for the time for me personally Remi tops both of them
@@hodanahmed835 same here I'm also reading the conan manga I don't know about that, I like HXH but it's not close to being in my favorite but conan however is definitely is a favorite for a long time now
You know what I love most about Detective Conan? That I got to learn so much about Japan. Conan with his friends or with Ran & Mouri travel all around Japan, the animation beautifully shows many historical places where characters tell about the place and the history. Although I'm not sure every information is accurate but it's still pretty great knowing something. I doubt there are other anime that does that. And not just the geography of Japan but also the people and the society norms. And when Conan reveals the secrets to tricks used in murders involving chemistry, physical or sometimes medical elements, it's so fun to learn that. Really Crime Procedurals shows of any country can tell you a lot about the culture of the country, i feel that and that's why it's my fav genre. I can probably blab a lot more but At last i can only say that it's been an honour to watch DC and to have felt closer to the culture of Japan. It's hard to keep something running for so long and do it weekly and for it to be from mystery genre, it's really difficult. So for the dedication of the creators, writers, animators, etc., I'm determined to watch DC, as long as I can.
Weird comment 6 months after this video went up but I just now saw this video and oh my god. You put to words what I couldn't when trying to explain to my friends why this series is so amazing. Conan was my first manga ever. (Not my first anime, that was Moomin Tanoshii no Ikka but I didn't know it was an anime. I was like 3, gimme a break) I saw the 2nd volume of it in the supermarket and I asked my mom to buy it for me. She did, she didnt even check the age recommendation, which was 12. I was 11, going on 12 later that year and if mom had known what the manga is actually about... She woud not had let me read it. I asked her this some time ago actually and showed her that same volume she got for me. She was shocked but said that I turned out ok regardless so it's fine. xD I went back by myself to buy the 1st volume and I have all 80-something volumes of the Finnish run of the manga. I can't overstate how devastated I was when it got discontinued.. Thank god for the internet. I'm still here, 15 years later at 27 years old and still completely in love with this series. I honestly don't think any other series compares in how it captivates my attention so completely. I'm very invested in the characters and I love the rare Actual Plot episodes the most. Yall don't know slow burn romance until you read Detective Conan. It might be my Aspergers talking out of my ass but no other series of manga or anime has come even close being as engaging as Conan, for me. Every time my friend visits Japan, she brings me Conan merch back as a souvenier and I just have so much Conan junk everywhere and moms getting annoyed. My friend moved to Japan recently so if I get to visit, we're definetly gonna have to visit some of the hotspots :3 Anyway, a longass rant later, thank you for making this video. Now I can just link this when my words fail in me when trying to express how cool Conan is.
Fantastic video! I've been a huge fan of Conan for a long time now. Starting with the dub myself, working my way to the sub, and now re-reading and continuing with the manga. (Along with working on a bunch of fan-projects for the show) I couldn't agree with you more, that this is a show that everyone deserves to experience and love. I loved the format of this video; very intriguing and entertaining. You've done your research, and you're very well spoken! Great job :)
Im glad to hear they reference the moonlight case again later on..it really does stick with us and im glad to the author it meant a lot and conan too...you can tell he really wanted to save simon and simon wasn't that wrong just naïve and hurting inside wanting revenge...conan I bet could sympathize with him...if that happened to anyones family im sure they would want revenge and do the same thing....its brutal what leads sane people off the deep end....
This was the show that got me hardcore into anime as well. I casually watched Sailor Moon as a middle school kid, but never went beyond that. My brother was a DBZ fanatic, but it didn't do anything for me. So I aged on into high school, never really giving anime much of a second thought. One night, after I had gone to bed, my brother was in the next room watching the TV too loudly. I barged in and asked him to turn it down. Out of the corner of my eye, I see the screen. Some guy impaled to a wall with a katana. I ask him, "What are you watching anyway? Looks like a horror flick." My brother goes, "No, no. You'll like this. You like detective stories, right? Like Sherlock Holmes and stuff?" I was a pretty big mystery fan. Ever since reading my first Nancy Drew in 5th grade. That led to Poirot and Sherlock before too long. So I eyed him cautiously. "Yeah. Why?" "This is like a Sherlock thing. He's a detective." "... that little kid?" "He's not actually a kid. He's a teenager. He just looks like a kid. Look, it's complicated. Sit down and watch and if you like it, I'll take you back to the first episode." And so I sat. And within minutes, was hooked. We were watching the dub at the time. But I started borrowing his DVDs and eventually had to switch to subs just because they had stopped dubbing it but I just couldn't stop watching. I was already too invested. Next thing I know, I'm watching other anime shows. Inuyasha. Yu Yu Hakusho. Now I'm super into Black Clover, MHA, and Re:Zero. And it's pretty much all I watch anymore. But Detective Conan continues to be my first love. The show that got me hooked on the art form. And the one I come back to again and again. We (hubby and I) recently started rewatching the series from Episode 1. We're in the early 200s already. But it's still just as enjoyable as the first time around. :)
When I started watching anime, Detective Conan was among the first I got into outside of what was shown on Danish television at the time. After all, I was new to the whole internet thing as I had just gotten my own computer and I could only really figure out how to look up anime on UA-cam (since heck, I had just started learning English), so I'd look up titles from anime I had seen on TV or manga I had read to see if anime adaptations existed. Tokyo Mew Mew, Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King, etc. being among them. As I got better at English and my thirst for anime grew I embarked on the adventure. :D I have been watching the anime for about 13 years now. I don't remember when exactly I started reading the series as I'd pull down the manga from the shelves in the library whenever I got the chance. I even got my hands on volume 16 amongst other manga volumes from a handful of different manga series when they sold off retired books to make room for new books when moving the library to a more central location. So I have 2 volume 16s in Danish the old worn out from the library and one I bought new from a book store. I don't want to get rid of either of them. Unfortunately they no longer translate the manga to Danish, so the old volumes are quite hard to come by. :) Even if Detective Conan were to continue for another 20 years, I'll be there watching it until the end. No matter how bittersweet that feeling is going to be. If I had to pick a favorite filler case on the top of my head, it would have to be the one with the ventriloquist (episodes 806-807).
@@user-gd4ty2nq3u what episode are you on right now. If you only want to watch the cannon episodes and skip the fillers you can use the xerblade guide, but if your a true fan then you should watch all the episodes
Great essay. So glad they showed this in German TV back then. As a kid, fascinated by the plot and it's characters; as an adult, fascinated by the self-contained cases and Kudō's deductions.
This is probably the most beautifully executed/written video of Detective Conan on UA-cam. Yes, this manga/anime is also my little secret/underrated series that got me into anime in the first place. I love it so much I use the number '4869' as a pin code in so many aspects of my digital life.
Whoa 4869 (sherlock shi-ha-ro-ku) and 4062 (holmes ho-o-mu-zu) are somehow easy to remember for me because of conan. Glad I'm not the only one because I would unconsciously choose those numbers when making passwords and stuff lol
So glad you put in that clip around 8:19 with the quote "the only fantasy in Detective Conan is his body turning small." Yes, Detective Conan is a *premise fiction.* Of course, it's also *historical fiction,* given all the real places it showcases. Quintessential modern Japan.
@@8geoking184 If you ever read the first couple volumes of the manga, you might remember when her hair did not have that one long spike/horn on her forehead. Aoyama's art style evolved as he was developing the looks of the characters in the early chapters. Ran's hair spike is meant to represent her bangs being styled up, then flipped over to one side. You can find fan-arts where someone has tried to draw Ran in realism style, to see this. Unfortunately, over the years, Aoyama has let Ran's spike/horn travel all over her head, depending on the scene. I'd love to see him tame that thing once and for all. I would also love to see his style return to how the characters looked in the manga/anime after the first couple of years, where his style was cleaned up a bit, Conan and the Detective Boys weren't quite so chibi-fied, but Conan still had that adorable, quintessential look. His current manga style is still incredibly detailed, but it has a "harder" look, and the kids look older. In the anime, it's even more pronounced. Conan looks older, but Shinichi looks younger than he did in the early seasons.
Thank you so much for making this video. Detective conan is one of my most priced fandoms, I've found so many friends and made art of this little detective, my life wouldn't be the same without Gosho Aoyama's work. I'm so hopefull that someone will be interested in reading and/or watching detective conan and they will appreciate it more :"") I'm going to link your video to everyone who's interested in getting started
Well said! I started reading/watching it in 2015 and I’ve been hooked ever since. I love all the characters, the intricate ongoing plot and all the deductions in the show. I agree Mountain Villa Murder really freaked me out the first time I saw it. But I just love it still all of the episodes are really enjoyable.
Thank you! I'm hoping that will iron itself out one of these days if I just keep up the quality of work I'm proud of, lol. Either way, I'm glad people like what I make. :)
I started watching/reading detective Conan since last year, I've watched some of the movies and I'm on chapter 800 something, and as you can see I love it.
I’m probably never going to read Detective Conan avidly but this video alone elevates my respect for Aoyama and potentially puts him up there with great authors like Arakawa and Oda, just from his level of passion alone. I’ve yet to read the chapters but I expect nothing less than excellent and have a feeling they’ll deliver.
Thanks for the video. Detective Conan brought so much joy to my childhood... I am from Barcelona and I'm happy to say that the catalan tv (TV3) it's still running the show for more than 20 years
Awesome review! Those episodes you mentioned and showed were some of my favourites. My most favourite being the Sherlock Holmes case where Heiji finds out about Conan being Kudo. I’m currently on episode 428 feeling a bit scared on what happens next as Ran mentioned a new Male student who looked like a Black Organisation member who’s in a coma. So yeah scared. Recently I’ve been trying to get a friend of mine into Detective Conan and while this video would be great to share with her, it has way too many spoilers that she won’t appreciate. But I appreciate, I appreciate loads. Best Detective Conan review ever as everyone else are just idiots who don’t know what they’re talking about. ❤️DETECTIVE CONAN RULES!
I love this anime from episode 1 until latest episode..from 1st movie until the upcoming movie..and dont forget the ovas and special episode..the only down side for me of these anime is the timeline..conan and his friends are still in 1stgrade after 25 years
An amazing review, it was pretty good. I really like Conan, and I feel you did justice bringing light to this great series. It sucks that your channel is criminally underrated, I hope your channel can grow!
my favourite part of Detective Conan is the community. When it comes to the stories' many mysteries like identities and motives everyone is so much fun to theorise with. And while shows like Naruto, Bleach and even My Hero Aca have some haters, I have not heard a single person hate on conan that's outside of "it's too long"
I’m still trying to catch up on the anime, only around 600, so hopefully I will catch up completely, especially since the new movie will be out and English subbed soon
Kogoro isn’t stupid, he’s just mostly incompetent. There have been a good number of cases, especially early on where he either solves or helps solve the case. He in fact solves the case in Movie 9: Strategy Above The Depths, even picking up on several clues Conan failed to do so. Where he comes short as a detective, his skills at shooting guns and as a fighter cover those up. He also was apparently a legend at the police academy.
Detective Conan / Case Closed has been my favorite anime since I first saw it on adult swim in 2004. Now, in my 20s, it’s my favorite animated show. It’s my favorite animated anything period.
For me Detective Conan is the best series. I first watch ten years ago, when I was 11 and I love this series since then. The hungarian dub of the anime is amazing, but the manga never have an hungarian edition, I tried the english version, but the name changes are terrible, so I start learning german, because I wanna collect the german edition of the manga.😅
Thank you for making this video, I've known about Detective Conan for years and it never crossed my mind to give it a chance because of what I have heard about the anime from others who claimed that it was only still going on because it was being milked for money. My favorite anime of all time is One piece which is another long running anime series and after giving it some thought I ended up watching One Piece because I saw someone else who loved the show review the anime and inform me on what they enjoyed about the series and its consistency. I am grateful that you made this video I am currently on episode 6 of Detective Conan and just after watching these few episodes I can see what is so captivating about the series and why its still ongoing. Thanks again :)
Love this!!I agree to every word you said and every detail you have pointed out!!! Ive been a fan of conan since second grade! Im already an adult now but never cease to love DC...kudos to you for making this vid.
I have seen every episode and every movie.Detective conan is not only my go to anime but helped to push my love of mysteries into overdrive and ended up helping me drive into my current and future Careers. Ironically your first episode is also my first episode I saw.
The theme songs from Conan is amazing as well!! Kuraki Mai (singer of Secret of my heart, Time after time ~Hanamau Machi De~, Togetsukyou Kimi Omou, etc.) even has a Guinness World Record for singing the highest numbers of theme songs for the same anime series (23 up to today).
Who doesn't love our little detective 🙏 (And one of the tons reasons is that aoyoma tries to keep it as realistic as possible, Shout-out,W,Oscars to gosho bro 💯)
How far are you now? Still liking it? I see your a One Piece fan too. I notice a lot of One Piece fans are into Detective Conan and vice versa. I guess people just love to get into these longrunners lol.
I have a strong memory from when I was like 7 or so years old and being so scared of the Moonlight sonata episode. It was terrifying, but I tried to finish it over and over again. Because of that need, some years later I decided to watch the entire show, and now, around 13 years later, I'm still reading it every week, and counting the days for every hiatus to end so I can read even more. I love to see that there're still lots of people just as in love with this anime as I am, 'cause I don't see that really often, my friends just think is too much to watch or read. Anyway, just tthank you for sharing your love :)
This anime is what got me into anime in general. I love it so much that I've been into many other shows, but this is the only one I still actively keep up with and rewatch from time to time.
Call me crazy, but I actually think Kogoro is just about as smart as Shinichi is, he's just really brazen. Shinichi is less arrogant, usually more hesitant to call a case solved and is also a lot more perceptive. Kogoro often jumps to conclusions with minimal evidence, and that's really the main flaw in his approach. Shinichi is definitely a better overall detective, but when it comes to problem solving skills, as long as they are equipped with the same complete knowledge of the case, Mori can usually come to the correct conclusion as well. If he was more willing to take his time with each mystery and be more observant of his surroundings, he could probably rival Shinichi.
I love CC/DC 'cuz of how incredibly slice-of-life/realistic the sequences of the episodes are. Many of the episodes take place during field trips, where people need to go to bathrooms, or lack lunch money, or talk about just... real, mundane stuff. And the thrill of the crimes takes place WITHIN, rather ON TOP OF, the settings. Many animes will go over mundane/realistic/slice-of-life events, too. I'm sure there's a filler episode of Bleach somewhere where on some field trip, a Hollow attacks people, and Ichigo has to save the day. This is an example of a thrilling sequence of events happening ON TOP OF a mundane setting. Meanwhile, CC/DC has thrills happening WITHIN mundane events. Hypothetically, keeping the field-trip example, CC/DC might show an episode where a kid goes to a vending-machine on a field-trip, and ends up finding razors in the chip bag he gets, after injecting the 1.25 -- or however much vending machines require in this economy --, and soon it turns into a whole mystery about who's been putting razors in the chip bags in the vending machines. CC/DC isn't the only anime or story that has ever done this, but I like stories that do, so... I like DC/CC. I like how grounded it is, whilst also still full of crazy criminals, as well as the theatrical Kuroba Kaitou (or, Phantom Thief Kid). It shows how thrilling and intense a fiction story can be, WITHOUT being fantasy. (I mean... yeah... there is the turn-into-a-kid Pill, but... meh.) Much like scooby-doo, everything in CC/DC comes to some sort of "it was actually this dude doing this and it's all grounded and rational", rather than anything supernatural, and I like exploring the different ways in which a series can be thrilling without being fantasy.
im 34 rn and read Conan since I was 14, it literally saved and changed my live and thats why I appreciate all the love for it so much, seeing that it seems to boom after 28 years... it makes me so happy :3
I just want a conclusion so badly. I fell in love with the show and just i cant keep up anymore, Ive graduated middle school, high school and University waiting for a conclusion
My dad introduced me to This, Inyuasha, and Kenshin. These three series are the foundation of my love for anime and manga and I'm so glad you made this video.
15:11 This scene stuck in my mind for so long. I used to watch Detective Conan with my older brother, back when I still went in kindergarden/gradeschool. (It was eighter in 2002, or 2004 that I've seen the episode). The only part of the episode that I could remember was that scene and that the only one that understood the last message was a kid. And that the message was a thank you and that the burning building and secret message in the music. For a really long time I forgot which show this scene was from (since I couldn't remember how the characters looked and what else it was about). Anyways in 2011, I rediscovered Detective Conan, a friend of mine got the first manga book as a birthday present and I recognized the character from the anime I used to watch when I was little. So I got curious to watch it again and started rewatching the anime, when I reached the episode with this scene I got goosebumps. For so long I had this scene in the back of my mind, always wondering where it came from ^^'' And then I finally found it again :D This makes this episode even more special to me XD Anyways, since 2011, I've been keeping up to date with Conan, I've watched the anime, all movies and I bought the manga (mainly the books with cases I'm most intersted in, but since book 72, I always try to get the new books XD). Oh and I always read the new chapters online as soon as they release :'D
hhhhomg case closed is what got me into anime 0o0 my mom got a ton of dvds from a clearence sale at a book store of the show and although i watched stuff like sailormoon, pokemon and yu-gi-oh, i loved this series the most! ❤ tbh its super good!!!❤❤❤❤
I love this show. I stopped actively following it a while back though when I came to the realization that I kinda just wanted it to resolve the main plot. Like I loved the episodic nature of it but eventually, I just got fatigued. I told myself that I wouldn't actively keep up with it until it was finished then I could just binge all the plot-relevant stuff and maybe a few episodic stories on the way but recently I just got this urge to start looking at it again. Looking at clips, maybe watching a movie or two, and it's easy to see why this show captured my attention for so long. It's the only long-running shounen show that I actually like and I'm so glad that you chose to give it the recognition it deserves I just hope it ends soon because as much as I like it I just have to know how it all ends.
When I was little I came across this cartoon and it blew me away. My cousin loved Saint Seiya, sister loved sailor moon, lil brother with Mazinger Zeta, but I didn't have a something to look forward on TV until Detective Conan!!! I'm 35 now, I'm still watching it, every couple of years I re start the whole series. It's big in Japan and some European countries, so sad that in Mexico never let up. Thanks for the video!
22:05 well, he is in the Arab world. "Conan" has become a synonym for "smart" in everyday Arabic lol literally, every single person knows him here, like, even the grandparents.
Thank you so much for making this video! You perfectly summed up my feelings for Detective Conan in such an articulate way. I've been reading it for over 10 years and will continue to do so~
'That was for me a little series called detective Conan'
Ahem 'little' might be an understatement for an anime with over 900 episodes.

yeah..its smart layerd laid back emotional intense and really I forget the main plot and while most episodic shows bore me this ones stand alone cases get me really invested like their minny movies...they really make you think and get invested and by the end you feel like you just had sex or watched a movie..its so amazing how each ep for the most part is different enough to make you care and rarely guess the entire ending accurately...like you may get the motive but now who or who but not the motive or maybe not how they did it or how many ...

I am highly grateful to you for making this video. Detective Conan is such a good series but it's underrated. Thank you for sharing what all DC fans feel to others.
You probably dont know this but DC is quite popular in Japan it somehow beat Avengers Endgame this year.
@@dontlookatmyvideoREE yeah, it's actualy also so popular in the middle east if you didn't know

@@dominiccenteno1233 Depends. It's super popular in Germany and a few other countries.
i noticed that this manga is only underrated by the american aundience i don t why but in spain in the arabic world in a japan and a lot of other countries its so popular but in america its criminally underrated don t why
Unfortunately the dub didn’t have very good marketing, and it was a bit out of place on Adult Swim among seemingly more adult properties.
@NezumiVA
come to hink of it that makes so much sense since the only merchandise that is made is from japan not the usa but where i live which is morroco it s an arabic country the anime is so popular there is manga coloring books backpacks bedroom sheets its really crazy
@OoogaDooga
the same thing with hoku to no ken its popular in japan and the arabic world but in america its only the meme that is popular
Detective Conan is really REALLY popular in the Philippines too.
Its been repeatedly airing early episodes on the main telebisyon channel for years and I’ve started watching it around 2010’s.
It's slightly more popular in Europe than America too actually, but yeah, can't beat it's popularity in Asia tho.
Since I've been a long-time fan of Detective Conan, I might not be the target audience of this video, but I still really enjoyed it. Thank you for making such a positive video on this series. :)
same
Yeah I liked it too
Such an underated anime that involved around detective and action and both sub and dub is very good
I think what I love about conan is its surreal yet real so it doesnt relly on mystical things but more mundane ones to get its points across....it just feels very chill usually...it isn't trying to teach some huge universal truths just giving context to these crimes with a likeable cast
It might be unknown in US but in Japan its really popular plus Its movie’s are very very popular
Yes! The dub gets a lot of guff, but it was still good.
The Italian dubs are amazing, the voices literally matches the characters so well imo but sadly it got cancelled on 2014 :(
@Bobby Hill jimmy and rachel... damn I like shinchi and Ran more
Oddly enough, DC is quite unknown to be honest. Is a bit weird..
PS: Been following DC since 2002... X)
Ha!
It makes sense since detective Conan is popular in Japan more
Detective Conan was my favorite show when I was 10-12 years old...

When Detective Conan had a collaboration with the popular game called Granblue Fantasy. I was surprised how well they translated the Detective Conan case structure to it. Detective Conan is a very good manga/anime.
Yeah it’s great series
You know right i'm also Algerian kabyle and this series was my childhood but when i ask french or Americans they've didn't even heard of this series

I agree that takagi /sato episodes and some with kaitou kid I like
Kaitou Kid is the best
I meanwhile figured out the case of the three times killed actor. As soon as it was mentioned that all three suspects said they killed the guy, I knew what way up-mainly because a similar crime happened in an old Donald Duck comic. Only there, the actors were kidnapped and not murdered.
When he said sympathetic murderer I knew he was gonna talk about Moon light Sonata. It is certainly a remembered episode Especially the Ending

I can probably blab a lot more but At last i can only say that
it's been an honour to watch DC and to have felt closer to the culture of Japan.
It's hard to keep something running for so long and do it weekly and for it to be from mystery genre, it's really difficult.
So for the dedication of the creators, writers, animators, etc., I'm determined to watch DC, as long as I can.
That’s interesting to know
Weird comment 6 months after this video went up but I just now saw this video and oh my god. You put to words what I couldn't when trying to explain to my friends why this series is so amazing.
Conan was my first manga ever. (Not my first anime, that was Moomin Tanoshii no Ikka but I didn't know it was an anime. I was like 3, gimme a break)
I saw the 2nd volume of it in the supermarket and I asked my mom to buy it for me. My friend moved to Japan recently so if I get to visit, we're definetly gonna have to visit some of the hotspots :3
Anyway, a longass rant later, thank you for making this video. Now I can just link this when my words fail in me when trying to express how cool Conan is.

Me too
This was the show that got me hardcore into anime as well.
Looks like a horror flick."
My brother goes, "No, no. You'll like this. You like detective stories, right? Like Sherlock Holmes and stuff?"
I was a pretty big mystery fan. Ever since reading my first Nancy Drew in 5th grade. That led to Poirot and Sherlock before too long. So I eyed him cautiously. "Yeah. Why?"
"This is like a Sherlock thing. He's a detective."
"... that little kid?"
"He's not actually a kid. He's a teenager. He just looks like a kid. Look, it's complicated. Sit down and watch and if you like it, I'll take you back to the first episode."
And so I sat.
Hey I like my hero academia but detective Conan is also my favorite
When I started watching anime, Detective Conan was among the first I got into outside of what was shown on Danish television at the time. After all, I was new to the whole internet thing as I had just gotten my own computer and I could only really figure out how to look up anime on UA-cam (since heck, I had just started learning English), so I'd look up titles from anime I had seen on TV or manga I had read to see if anime adaptations existed. Tokyo Mew Mew, Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King, etc. being among them. As I got better at English and my thirst for anime grew I embarked on the adventure. :D
I have been watching the anime for about 13 years now. :)
Even if Detective Conan were to continue for another 20 years, I'll be there watching it until the end. No matter how bittersweet that feeling is going to be.
If I had to pick a favorite filler case on the top of my head, it would have to be the one with the ventriloquist (episodes 806-807).

This is probably the most beautifully executed/written video of Detective Conan on UA-cam. Yes, this manga/anime is also my little secret/underrated series that got me into anime in the first place. I love it so much I use the number '4869' as a pin code in so many aspects of my digital life.
Kinda underappreciated honestly underrated isn’t the right word given its popularity
@Watch forever Yes popular, but mostly in its home country. It is heavily underappreciated within the western anime community...
Quintessential modern Japan.
ran's hair is fiction

I love detective conan. its so good i don't know why its underrated. It is the only anime which gave me so much thrills about mystry
Yeah agreed
It is so nostalgic when u mention Conan.I read it when I was in grade 1 and now I’m turning 21, still love and read Conan
Yeah agreed
The theme songs from Conan is amazing as well!! Kuraki Mai (singer of Secret of my heart, Time after time ~Hanamau Machi De~, Togetsukyou Kimi Omou, etc.) even has a Guinness World Record for singing the highest numbers of theme songs for the same anime series (23 up to today).
Who doesn't love our little detective 🙏
(And one of the tons reasons is that aoyoma tries to keep it as realistic as possible, Shout-out,W,Oscars to gosho bro 💯)
Just started watching this show about a week ago and already I can tell this is going to be something truly special. Episode 11 was soo good!
Agreed
How far are you now? Still liking it? I see your a One Piece fan too. I notice a lot of One Piece fans are into Detective Conan and vice versa. I guess people just love to get into these longrunners lol.
I'm finally up to date with the anime! it took so long but it was worth it! and now I find this video to feel even more acomplishment, thankyou
“Hold your voice changing bowtie” oh my god the reference 😂
watching this video I was so happy, Detective Conan is more than just an anime to me, I love it with every fiber of my being
Should I read or watch conan
I have a strong memory from when I was like 7 or so years old and being so scared of the Moonlight sonata episode. It was terrifying, but I tried to finish it over and over again. Because of that need, some years later I decided to watch the entire show, and now, around 13 years later, I'm still reading it every week, and counting the days for every hiatus to end so I can read even more.
I love to see that there're still lots of people just as in love with this anime as I am, 'cause I don't see that really often, my friends just think is too much to watch or read.
Anyway, just tthank you for sharing your love :)
It is so heartbreaking when I find one or two people who follow conan still, even among otakus. Glad to find this video!
Conan was huge in Germany and still has a big and loyal fanbase.
This anime is what got me into anime in general. I love it so much that I've been into many other shows, but this is the only one I still actively keep up with and rewatch from time to time.
How do you not have more subs? This was some great quality content. Keep it up, man:)
As a fan of Detective Conan, I want to cry for that amazing appreciations you said. TwT
If he was more willing to take his time with each mystery and be more observant of his surroundings, he could probably rival Shinichi.
agreed
The best part about the non-mainstoryline episodes (aka 70% of the show) is that many of them are so memorable.
Thank you Gosho Aoyama
I'm gonna check this out! Thanks for the video!
I gave DC a chance after watching this, thanks for making this video
I watched Detective Conan when I was young and still love it and for a few weeks now I read the mangas
I just want a conclusion so badly. I fell in love with the show and just i cant keep up anymore, Ive graduated middle school, high school and University waiting for a conclusion
It’s probably gonna finish soon
My dad introduced me to This, Inyuasha, and Kenshin. These three series are the foundation of my love for anime and manga and I'm so glad you made this video.
Detective Conan is so well known, even my Classmates who never watch anime at all know him x"3
For so long I had this scene in the back of my mind, always wondering where it came from ^^'' And then I finally found it again :D This makes this episode even more special to me XD
Anyways, since 2011, I've been keeping up to date with Conan, I've watched the anime, all movies and I bought the manga (mainly the books with cases I'm most intersted in, but since book 72, I always try to get the new books XD).
Detective Conan lovers joined the group.
"Conan" has become a synonym for "smart" in everyday Arabic lol
literally, every single person knows him here, like, even the grandparents.
Thank you so much for making this video! You perfectly summed up my feelings for Detective Conan in such an articulate way. I've been reading it for over 10 years and will continue to do so~
