Cheating on consoles is just as bad as on PC. It is very cheap to get a device to allow you to use mouse and keyboard with controller aim assist and scripting support for recoil patterns etc...
Client anti cheat is free to run for companies and it still does something for software cheats. However, just like on consoles, hardware cheats are much harder to detect, from DMA cards to mouse and keyboards with storage for scripts.
It is impossible to fight against cheating without consequences outside of the game.

It's a good starting step, as others said, many of these games are paid games like MCC but it certainly means for someone to cheat they have to buy the game, when banned they have to make new accounts and keep buying it, which even when on sale for high discounts, can become expensive very fast if they getting bans none stop.
I also think all players reported for "cheating" should be investigated asap, games watched and if found to be cheating, ban for life. Of course people make false reports for cheating all the time, I'm sure Mint Blitz is probably reported once a day by someone hurt about the skill gap but i would just say impose punishment on false reports, fake reporting cheat = warning, twice = 2nd warning, 3times = 1 day ban, then 1 week etc. you couldn't be too harsh because some will report when suspicious of cheating when its just a good player but it's there.

for most cheaters it's either to get attention, see how far they can take it before getting banned, or to "get good" fast.
Attention: I've only really met two cheaters and talked to them, and they both had rough childhoods to say the least. I'm not gonna delve too deep but they were both needy for attention and have likely adopted the mindset "all publicity is good publicity", and one of them wasn't in the best mental state to say the least.
Breaking Limits: Some people just want to see how far they can push it before action is taken, also likely due to attention but sometimes out of pure curiosity.
"Get Good Quick": Some people are too bad or too lazy to try to learn a skill and download cheats to try and fast-track the process, not realizing that it only hinders themselves in the long run. You see this a good bit in speedrunning communities, though that's mostly to get good times faster and more reliably.
To any cheaters that read this, you're better than that. If you cheat because you lack skill, you can earn it. It won't be fast or easy, but it'll be retained a lot better than the aimbot or ESP you're using.
If you want to break limits, at least try not to ruin other players' fun while you do it. Of all the reasons to cheat, this is the one I understand the most (mostly for curiosity) but there are ways to break the anti-cheat without bothering other players.
If it's to seek attention, there are better, healthier and even possibly easier ways to do that, but it also might be linked to deeper issues with yourself. I advise looking into a psychiatrist or therapist to get help if possible.
In any case, if you get banned it's not because you're this huge threat that needed to be taken down, but because you're an annoying twerp in a sea of annoying twerps. You're not cool, you're not original, and you will likely die forgotten.

Hey old head here. I'm not sure how to fix PC cheating. Halo originally came out for the PC, but I grew up on consoles. I bought the original XBOX because Halo was it's main seller. It was the best game I ever played at that time. I was instantly hooked. I have played Halo now for over 20 years. Halo games had their fair share of glitches with getting off the map and such, but I have never seen the game manipulated so easily as it is today.
Cross play not only ruined Halo for me, but all the other online games I used to play. I'm sorry for the PC players, but console players deserve better. People should not be firing up their Xbox Series S/X only to get wall hacked and/or aimbotted by some person that gets dopamine from using PC hacks. There are most likely ways to still cheat via console that I'm not currently aware of, but I think getting rid of cross play would be a start.
It is a shame but if we have learned anything, companies will do whatever it takes to make more money. We keep buying their games so our bantering, complaining, and opinions are useless. Franchises that keep selling based on the name simply do not have to make improvements because they know we will still buy. Newer games take the proper actions because they don't have a constant revenue stream coming back from previous players. I have honestly come to accept it. I will dabble occasionally for fun but my competitive drive for the game is done. What once was an amazing community of friendly people has become a landscape for cheating and complaining.

Even though console is more resistant to cheating, it's not totally safe. I played Halo 4 on XBox when you could replay a game in theater mode from any player's view. I viewed an unbeatable cheater's perspective while he camped and saw through walls and sniped anybody that passed into open space. He knew precisely where we were as he visually tracked us through walls with his reticle. I've seen other examples on UA-cam and still run across cheaters still in other XBox games.

I've been thinking about this issue myself and I think a possible solution is to not ban the cheaters outright, but rather round them up into a sort of cheaters' bubble, where they will unknowingly only match with other cheaters. The idea is that there's no satisfaction to be had when everyone else is doing it, so by taking the "fun" out of cheating, the cheaters will eventually leave on their own accord out of frustration. It serves the same purpose as banning but with added psychological effect.

Cheating prevention is a technical issue, the most effective way is to have a team that is constantly updating the game and finding ways to counter cheaters. A team that only does that one job. Which, I would guess, is expensive. Buy the cheat software break it, patch the game, put up rewards for the community to do the same. Ppl are less likely to but cheating software when they know it will possibly be broken in a few weeks or a month.

Counterstrike is unplayabale too. In every single game type at every level. Casual, competitive, and third party Faceit. How is anyone supposed to get good, to pro level, at anything anymore.

Remember when hardware and IP bans were a thing? We need to go back to that, make it financially difficult for a cheater to get back so it isn’t worth it.

Honestly what I would do.... zero cross play with PC or console only mode, like marvel rivals it's feels more human than robotic, like good old reach and halo 3 days

Im no programmer but i feel like a competent dev team focusing against hackers should be able to keep the cheater count lower, i doubt companies would pay for that type of specialized care. I dont want games to be inaccessible offline and have malware level anticheats becoming the norm though.

cheaters are unavoidable if the matchmaking keeps them in the playlist, if we want to deal with them as a problem, we need to have a user generated whitelist/blacklist where the only people you could be paired with would be personally previewed with what they are like with the added ability to community collab each list, each person would start out with having public matchmaking with this extra matchmaking feature matching with those they also want to matchmake with like you, someone who doesn't want to deal with skummy cheaters, it's like custom game lobbies but with user generated layers of security.

this new matchmaking feature could also eliminate being falsely banned from the game by botted reports, as there would be no need to ban someone, just don't add them to your whitelist, cheaters would give up trying to play the game when all they can do is fight with other cheaters and face the consequences of how abhorently degenerate they can become through doxxing, swatting, ddosing, it would become a nightmare just trying to play the game for them, play stupid games, live in a nightmare of your own design.

All studios should come together to develop a unified program that integrates into every game, using AI to detect abnormal gameplay. This program should receive continuous updates to ensure that games remain secure and free from cheating.

Due to money being involved in these online tournaments Monster should be sued immediately or be forced to serve time in jail. He clearly hasn't learned from his past mistakes so he needs to understand that we mean business when it comes to the integrity of competitive video games. Also if I couldn't figure out how to stop the cheating in my game then for the time being maybe going back to console is the best thing to do. The fact that he sent the same exact message to a whole bunch of people he hasn't talked to in a pretty long time is disgusting especially when he didn't have any intention of paying them back. Blaming them for giving him the money isn't fair when there are just very nice people out here being taken advantage of.

I mean realistically though you are altering someone else's hard work, some games being considered art, and ruining it for its intended audience in a way that directly manipulates the game rather than change the fight with strategy, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to sue/pursue legal action and tbh I wish more game companies would take that kind of action, tired of people wanting to punish us regular pc players just because a few liars wanna inflate their online egos.

I'm a casual and the only cheating I find acceptable is for single player games or in modded lobbies where the cheats/mods are agreed upon. My opinion for fixing competitive multiplayer is to bring back physical arcades, except they are suited up for competitions (a set standard across the board). Outside of this I don't see the competitive gaming scene changing without hyperinvasive AI running in the background.

MCC is a lost cause at this point. Matchmaking & Customs are both compromised. "Halo Studios" won't really fix it since MCC isn't making much money compared to Infinite.
