Super Easy Sonic The Hedgehog Cake

- When my friend Kelsey asked me if I could create a Sonic The Hedgehog cake for her nephew, I totally jumped at the chance! The only downside? I only had one day to do it! I didn't want to compromise any of the decorations so we combined some designs we found online, choosing the ones that I knew would be easiest to re-create.

I read where you like to use 3 layers in your cakes...Cake mix boxes usually make 2 layers. Do you split the batter into 3 pans or use 2 boxes?

My son can’t have buttercream but can have vanill frosting is it ok to use vanilla frosting to coat the cake also when coated does it go in the fridge as I’m going to decorate the cake the following day

Cake looks awesome..I was wondering how much foundant do you think I will need to make this cake or how much foundant to make the the squares on the bottom of cake ?did you count the little squares on the bottom of the cake?

What brand fondant do you use? Also where did you get the sqaure cutter? That would really save me!
I make my own (recipe on my website www.sugargeekshow.com ) or I use renshaw americas fondant :)

Can u heat the rings to harded them instead?
Would love to make this. However, I've never worked with fondant so it's kind of intimidating. Idk. The square patter seems easier than covering the whole cake with fondant.
Buy some and play around with it :) No better way to learn!

Yes you do, and straws to support the cake
Sugar Geek Show so straws in the 8inch cake then put the 6 inch cake on top with 6 inch cake board underneath do I need to put buttercream on the cake board to make it stick?
