Why not go with electric water pump and go for something like chips motorsport water manifold. They look absolutely beautiful. Also, I think it’ll help when doing the hose routing for v mount as the stock water pump assembly had the hose outlet way up high

There are several shops well represented in the UA-camr car build sphere that have multiple lawsuits against them for ripping off customers. Including but not limited too never delivering parts, soliciting sex for getting a car done on time and PARTING OUT people's cars. Unfortunately the rotary world is rife with really shady shit, and is the reason why Rod Dahm and Aaron Parker went and learned to do it all them selves.

Also if you didn’t use the gasket that goes between the water pump and the water pump housing you can have a problem. The water pump may not turn because it’s too tight there
Love the rotary build. We need more. Not sure if you edited it out but before you put the water pump housing on there is supposed to be 2 or3 shims. It keeps the housing from leaking. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Awesome to know about the oven cleaner. I found that if you need to strip paint off plastics use rubbing alcohol and brush it on heavy. Paint came off so easy and no sanding.
Ngl, I've learned more about rotarys watching you guys build this than any other video I've seen online about them. It's weird to see how much is left exposed on these compared to a "normal" engine where all sensors, spark plugs, etc are almost hidden in the engine

I keep easy off on my shelf for cleaning greasy oily engine bays. Works great but you can't let it sit too long, it will eat the paint straight to bare metal in about 10 minutes.
just fyi, any chrome plastic like in headlights can be stripped with the oven cleaner too. its what i use when i build my headlights but definitely be careful!
You can DeAnodize the purple fuel rail with Sodium Hydroxide. Use 64 oz of distilled water and ~170grams of Powdered or pellet sodium hydroxide (drain cleaner isle at hardware store) Soak the part for 30sec to 1 min and boom the purple should come off. Then sand with 1500 and polish

My car was stolen and they spray painted over my custom paint job. My detailer used the same oven cleaner to take the spary paint off but not hurt the paint underneath...
When you guys are removing anodizing like that you need to keep some vinegar close by. The active ingredient in that oven spray is lye. If it gets on skin water will just spread it around. Vinegar will neutralize the lye and stop the burning.

This engines get so hot if it was me in 2023 building one again i would go with electric pump and 2 after market oil coolers with fans! The temps are no joke!
I am surprised to see those easy off oven cleaners are still on the market. I use to use those to clean wheels before polishing and also for other car parts. And yes they are really the best oven cleaners out in the market, for some reason they stop selling them in Cali, or maybe I just couldn't find them while I was still in Cali. I used that to clean rust taps and fixtures.

The open end 14mm wrench with the 6 point 10mm on the back is for a paint gun. You can disassemble and clean the whole thing.

The best upgrade I've done to a 13b .... was a 09-11 RX-8 s 6 spd.

Jimmy, If ou ever need to deanodize aluminum, soak them in industrial liquid plumber for 15 min then rinse really good.
