Those red S5 series machines are both C2 Completes Sam - the C2 Compact is what the blue one is - Ie, the old S6 series. As you know, Miele motors are notoriously difficult to repair and once one fails, it usually means the vacuum is scrap due to the insanely expensive prices of Miele parts. I seem to remember the brushroll assembly for the S7 upright would set you back around 100 quid a good 7 years back when I was making videos - God only knows what they charge for them these days. Good effort trying to repair the motors Sam, but even the vacuum repair Guru such as you are cannot repair absolutely everything. Dont worry though Sam - we all know you are the best bodger in town and if you cant get it going, then no-one else will either, lol
The good thing about Miele is none of their innards and circuits are proprietary, They use off the shelf stuff from Japanese brands like Toshiba, Sanyo, etc. You can fix it all in your garage. Also there are used parts and salvaged parts often available, they are just expensive due to the high buy-in cost of a Miele. Miele to vacuums is like Mercedes Benz is to cars.
Hi Sam, that motor looks like an MRG 710 is that right? If so can you tel me is the rotor (armature) the same size and length as the MRG 148 in the S7 upright? I remember you doing a swap with an older S5 armature to try and repair an S7 in the past. I Understand the wattage differences and can shorten brushes and re-seat them without a problem, Thanks.
i had a 2200w S5 that was soaked in a skip water damaged but somehow it still ran ok lol but really i still sold it from how the motor looked... ticking time bomb. shame really!!
In theory yes, but in practise I remember trying 3 of them in the past with a C3 and none worked/1 was quite dangerous, all the solder was touching itself on the pcb 😢
Sam, if you can't do anything with it then nobody can. Injury suffered too and you did your best. A great video again.
Cheers! I guess it is fixable for the right £££, it just mot worth doing 😢 Anyone want a miele shell with hose 😂
Tough break with those bearings. Massively abused.
Good old Sam, cut and bleeding and still getting on with it - well done Sam- good bit of miele maintenance and diagnostics!
Hi Sam great video, massive congratulations on your 10k subs so well deserved 👏👏👏
This is honestly depressing... How much money do Miele's cost over there in the UK?
Around £200-300
@@RJA_WorldHoly hell
@@FrenchFryCheese04 yep and people just trash them
@@RJA_World That to me is like a waste of money you know?
@@FrenchFryCheese04 Absolutely. They do the same with Dysons too

That's about when I retire them to shop duty until the motor burns out
Why not put new bearings in?
Because I'd struggle to get them seated correctly with the broken housing part. Probably do-able if you really loved the machine...
@@beko1987😞, ive replaced bearings in engines😎
Wouldn't a aftermarket Miele motor work?

it is honestly weird how unreliable these seem to be, even a dyson can handle a bit of water lol.
Yea, they have zero margin for error, no second chances, and no cheap motors 😢😂
