I am glad that you are wearing your chaps, I had an accident August 24,2023 with a chainsaw and ended up in the emergency room and being told I was 1/8 of an inch away from dying! It makes you rethink the PPE choice or lack there of on my end! Stay safe and love your videos Eric!
Wearing a full face motorcycle helmet saved my life TWICE. Try to convince me that safety gear isn't important. Keep rocking the PPE Eric. Love your videos!
I want to thank you for showing that you wear PPE on the farm. It is a little thing but I notice in a lot of your videos you wear protective equipment and I feel its a good thing to be seen on a big platform like yours. I live on the other side of the state and a lot of the farmers and such in my area talk down on PPE and consider it stuff for "sissies" but its nice to see someone as well known as you with a good operation fairly reliably using PPE to hopefully maybe change the mind of some of the younger folks who follow your channel.
100% agree with your very fine comment. All these so called "Big Tough Men" are not so tough when they have a serious accident and leave their family to cope with the result, and I have seen so many over the years in Farming & Construction. There were 511 fatalities in farming in the US in 2022!
Cut wood for 50 years never wore out protective gear. If you learn to use equipment properly and responsibly never needed it. This society is scared of everything.
When I grew up we rode bikes horse skated without helmets. I think all this safety stuff give people a false sense of security. The forget to use their Brains but instead take more risk because they think they are safe. To this day I still don’t wear a helmet when riding bike or horse. Some states you don’t need helmets to ride motorcycle. If you’re scared don’t don’t it. But learn proper way to do things get off gadgets so you pay attention to what you are doing.
The sprocket on the bar is a greased sprocket, you need a needle grease tip and put it in the hole in the bar by the sprocket, they need to be greased each use
Hey Eric if it makes you feel better I knew by the sound that the saw power head was not happy, look for a small hole next to the rivets in the tip you can grease the bearing with a needle adapter for longer life and flip the bar every time you change chains, and while the side cover is off use that same needle adapter and there should be a divit in the end of the crankshaft that Will allow you to grease the bearing between the crankshaft and clutch drum........but having recently bought into the family I am so thankful to you for your videos and your wealth of knowledge in dairy life.
Ideally you want to turn the bar over a lot more than just when you change chains. Also it's difficult to explain but after a lot of use burs will develop on the bar and you need to file them off. Buckin' Billy Ray is a wealth of information on chainsaws.
Thanks for all the 2023 videos, a pleasure to watch. Lemme echo the ‘good thing PPE’ comments, it may influence others and save limbs. InRe Merch, when we gonna be able to buy a 10th Gen Hoodie with a zipper? Happy Holidays to all the Weavers!
Merry Christmas (belated) and a Happy New Year to you and your family Eric! Thanks for another great year of content. Lookin' forward to 2024 on the farm!
It's amazing to me that you're out in your yard with a skid steer. Up in the northeast where I am it's the late mud season and a skid steer would be buried to the belly pan anywhere you go lol
We demand a lot of our chain saws. Work them hard for a few days and then throw them in the case for months on end. I have an older Husqvarna that has cut cords and cords of wood for me over the years. Last summer I pulled it out and it just wasn’t happy. I finally got it running right after adjusting the mixture and idle but I think it too is due for it’s first ever trip to the shop for a professional tune. I always sharpen my blade every time I use it. It really helps the saw perform to it’s fullest. Belated Merry Christmas Eric to you and your family. All the best in 2024.
I just want to thank you for reminding me to clean the filter on my chainsaw. To be honest, I actually forgot to do that I think in the last three years. So yesterday after watching your video, I went to my chainsaw got the filter and cleaned it. Thank you again.
Thank you for faithfully posting informative high quality content for your subscribers! I hope you had a blessed Christmas, and I wish you and yours a very Happy and prosperous New Year!
Looks good but one thing I've noticed is that you tend to have your head/body over the saw when you're cutting. If you happen to get some unexpected kickback you're then in line with where the saw will go, especially when not wearing a helmet try and stay to the side of the saw a bit more.
Eric, be careful moving, rolling, and cutting those logs. Did that as a teen and into my 30's. It did a number on my back. Try looking good into log roller. They are worth the money.
Hello, I know that you are really busy on a dairy farm, I've seen people put a hub and wheel on one front corner of their skid steer loader bucket to push feed closer to the cows. I've seen people also use an old garden tractor snowplow blade. I think some company makes a robot too push feed also. Just an idea. Love the videos keep up the good work and God bless and stay.
Hi Eric, you always find something to do to fill your day in. Pine trees are only good for making timber planks, not for burning. All the hard work building new sheds over the past 2 years is making life a bit easier now. I hope you and your family have a good NYE and hope 2024 delivers less climate issues. Chris from Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺.
Merry Christmas/ Happy new year Eric. They sell small grease guns just for the tips of bars. I just bought one at Lowes for about 9 dollars. Happy cutting.😊
The holes on each side of the bar near the tip are for grease. Go ahead and give them a squirt while rotating the chain. Do for every 4 hours of use. I bet the saw never fails for that reason ever again.
There are oil holes on that bar that need to remain unclogged in order for that chain to be able to run and stay lubricated. Otherwise it will seize up kind of like what was going on when you were using it. It also helps to be able to transport contaminants out of that area so I would definitely be checking on that chainsaws/bar oiling system for sure.
Hope you had a great Christmas and wish you all the best in the New Year. Watching you cutting and moving those big logs brings back lots of memories but now a old man we lose our strength that we had in our young years. Enjoyed your video thank you.
Great video. Hope you and your family had a fantastic Christmas. Always like to see you using safety gear when working, you set a good example. Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year. Thanks till next time.
I'm very interested in the vaccines and treatments that are given to the cows. My home farm has been pretty mismanaged since my grandpa retired so no vaccines or treatments ever given. Being able to have them trained to feed through head locks seems so handy for that, otherwise we would have to separately sort them into a single shute which is a pain. Ideas for the future thank you
Nice pile of wood there Eric. I’m sure somebody with an outdoor furnace would love to have all that wood. Hope you and yours had a Merry Christmas and that 2024 finds you blessed in many ways.
you have to lube the tip with a needle grease fitting, see your saw shop, I teach saw safety, have your saw shop show you proper operation, how to make the saw work for you using the log spikes at the head of the bar, much easier on the saw and you. be safe
So, I see a lot of what you are doing with the cows. Do you have any information about what you do with the milk after you milk the cows? My dad grew up on a farm and worked on one in the summertime (he's teacher) when I was small, so I got to do some things with him there. I'm curious what the "big boys" do that might be different than the smaller, family farm does.
I’m glad you did this video. I’m not a member of the chainsaw police but that’s a sick running saw. I hope Stihl or Echo steps up and sponsors you with a new healthy sounding saw. Lol
Hey Eric over the suppliers have asked you to try there farm equipment would love to see you try and review the avant loader and it attachments maybe the usa dealer for avant could supplier a demo

Happy New Year to all generations of the Dairymen. Thank you for all the wonderful, educational, and delightful videos you have given us in 2023.
That little hole next to the four rivets on the bar tip is where you grease it to keep it from locking up.

Happy to see that you continue to exercise safety, be it hearing, eye or clothing.
Safety First Always. Wishing you the very best in 2024.
Happy New Year 9th, 10th and 11th gen. Dairyfolks! Hope it's safe, prosperous and blessed for y'all!

Always good when they just nonchalantly walk where they need to go instead of taking off running 😂

I think some company makes a robot too push feed also. Just an idea.
Love the videos keep up the good work and God bless and stay.
Yes we have a robot feed pusher in our milking barn but not for the heifers. Thanks
You can grease the bar tip using a syringe with out a needle to shoot some grease into the sprocket.
The sprocket on the end of the bar does get jammed occasionally with wood fibers. You cleared it the same way I do.
Love the gas can. Those were the best. See one at a garage sale, buy it!
Great video! Someday you will have robotic feed sweepers. No more broken handles. All in good time. 👍👍
Thanks to you Eric and All of your family and your very important employees !! Use to love the heat of fire wood but 😂😂😂to young now!! HAPPY 2024.

@Stihl send this man a new saw 🙏
nice to see the dog! :)
Don't forget your hearing protection when using that chainsaw. ;)

The tip of bar may have a grease hole in it. Husqvarna does!
Echo bars are Oregon made, pretty sure it does have the grease port
great video Eric . Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and the Family
Happy New Year 🎈🎊
Use ethanol free gas for saws and trimmers. Your carbs won't gum up with non use
You can oil the bar sprocket, Chainsaw Bar Tip Lube Gun about 10 dollars at Home Depot. Should be lubricated at least ever other use.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I always look forward to your videos. The BEST❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That’s going to make some great firewood for someone. Have a Happy and prosperous New Year from Oklahoma
Thanks for the video Eric! I love watching firewood processing. We had a nice Christmas and hope you and yours did too!

A lot of times lumber yards won't take tree's from people's yards because of the high chances of there being nails or metal inside the wood.
Happy New Year Eric.
Nice pile of wood there Eric. I’m sure somebody with an outdoor furnace would love to have all that wood. Hope you and yours had a Merry Christmas and that 2024 finds you blessed in many ways.
Merry Christmas to all your family Eric (belated) Happy New year ❤
I have 2 Echo chain saws, a small pruning one and one your size. I really like them.
I hope that you and your family had a great Christmas and I want to wish you all a Happy New Year and a safe one too! Thanks
Merry Christmas to you and your family, see you in the new year
God bless y’all and merry Christmas and a happy new year
If you guys are looking for a good way to store your split wood fertilizer totes work really good!
All good!
Hope you had a blessed Christmas!
Cutting wood is so satisfying...
I can bring over my splitter if you need it!
That little hole in the bar is for oiling by the sproket
Grease 😊
WD40 first to free it up then grease@@johnmulder4121
Hope you and the family had a great Christmas. Can you grind the wood up and use it as saw dust for the cows?
Us city folk pay money to get fit at the gym, but farmers just exist and get a workout AND mark stuff off the checklist!
that's a lot of bedding....
Your chainsaw cuts way faster than mine ever did.
The one sided hole near end is for grease
You should grease the top of the bar each time you fill with gas.
You don't chop stuff up with a chainsaw. Happy New Year! I enjoy watching your videos
Nice, keep up the good work, us farmers need to stick together
Another great video!
you have to lube the tip with a needle grease fitting, see your saw shop, I teach saw safety, have your saw shop show you proper operation, how to make the saw work for you using the log spikes at the head of the bar, much easier on the saw and you. be safe
Have a happy new year brother from the imperial county California 👍🎉🎉🎊🎊 you and your family
make sure your bar oiler is working, i noticed at the end of the video the bottom of that bar is turning blue.
Besides the bar problems, the carb doesn't sound right. Use non ethanol gas. 89 octane or better for the mix. Yup filter will do it.
So, I see a lot of what you are doing with the cows. Do you have any information about what you do with the milk after you milk the cows? I'm curious what the "big boys" do that might be different than the smaller, family farm does.
so happy you have a gas saw and not a battery power one!
Thanks for the video!
I had good Christmas and I hope you and your family have great new year and be safe
What about renting a wood shaving maker machine that would be useful for your farm...
I’m glad you did this video. I’m not a member of the chainsaw police but that’s a sick running saw. I hope Stihl or Echo steps up and sponsors you with a new healthy sounding saw. Lol
Erik happy New years for you and your familie grreetss from the netherlands
👍 🎄Merry Christmas🎄 🥛
Hi Erik, if you keep your chainsaw out of the dirt the saw will stay sharper longer. ❤ Happy New Year! God bless you and your family. ✝️👍🏼❤️
Thanks for reminding me that I should clean out the air filter in my chainsaw. 😂
Sawmills don't want yard trees or trees from fencelines. There a very good chance they have nails embedded in them.
Ask your dealer for for a bar oiler. There's little hole on the end of the bar to oil the roller.
Grease!!!
Good bit of lumber in that. I run a mill and all I see is money
Merry christmas erik
You could use a bit bigger saw than that little one
The oil hole…
Happy new year
Great awesome video Eric
thank you
That nail is y sawmills don’t like house yard trees.
Does the sealer in the teat dissolve or fall out or do you take it out.
We strip it back out
Plz i dont care if you think you look goofy as heck plz wear PPE, it will save you trip to E.R or even your life one day. Merry Christmas to you all.
Hey Eric over the suppliers have asked you to try there farm equipment would love to see you try and review the avant loader and it attachments maybe the usa dealer for avant could supplier a demo
There is a small hole near the end tonearm the bearing in there
❤❤ uma madeirinha dessa aí bota para secar botar um pouquinho de manhã
Hey eric. I got the same sweatshirt your wearing for christmas!
Chainsaw man!!
