@@jensv874 You are correct, though jagex is likely looking at it from the perspective of mobile gaming companies. Mobile gaming prioritises selling to the whales of the game. If there are 500 players who spend £100 a month on MTX, that’s worth the same as 5000 players’ memberships.
Someone like me will just not buy keys or bonds. I’ll still play the game and buy membership but thats my limit. The game isn’t good enough or being developed at a sufficient pace for me to feel incentivized to spend more.
Its really sad that both games that i put a ton of time and love are going out in similar ways. RS3 reminds me of the Destiny path. The skins seem like thats what the armor should of been. They are prioritizing mtx.
i noticed it long before, during the bank rework that was promised. i left rs3 after sliskes endgame because of all the empty promises and then the player character rework. really shows are like anon that never delivers.

I have no issue with them doing Micro transactions for cosmetics... They are a company, they do need to earn money to keep the studio going and Membership isnt enough to keep the studio afloat. I do have issue however with the Keys thing changing almost every other day though. Pretty much every few days it feels like something new and i dont really care... i just want EXP boosters and Protean stuff at the end of the day. They should in all honestly try and put more effort into the cosmetics store, it feels under utilized for the Gamble feel that comes with the Keys

I came back to play my main account during the Christmas period but shortly after I've been so demotivated as every content update is MTX. I decided to stop again as the game feels so empty & the player count is going down & down.
This is stuff needs be added to Vorkath's drop table for normal and hard. Maybe after a month so its special for a while can even make it like aod chests just dumb rare.

Usually Jagex would introduce some new f2p content over the years but nothing has been added or given access to f2p for a long time except for level 20 in the new skills

Don't get me wrong, the Halloween and Christmas events were cool, but some parts weren't as enjoyable bc the rest was locked behind membership. We got a chance to get all types of presents during Christmas, but we could only open the white and blue ones. We could get about 2-3 Santa's Letters daily but we couldn't put them in the mailbox. Like it was sending this weird message of "wanna continue this quest? Get Mems now!"
I played RS for 16 years and Maxed 200m all combat stats in 2022 and haven't played since. The game will always have a place in my heart but it just feels soulless now.

I’m just going to say this about mtx. I get why people dont like it. I get that it makes the game easyscape. And yes it’s true, no doubt. But mtx doesn’t really affect the game for those who don’t use mt right? Like if some people don’t use it, their gameplay stays the same. Now yes they do entice everyone to use mtx, which can be a problem at times, but overall, mtx should at least be praised because without it, the game would be completely different. One, membership would be through the roof in order for the company to not get rid of runescape since it wouldnt be making money any other way, which would kill the game anyways. 2, they would only increase membership a little bit but updates and new content is on the backburner mostly because the company isn’t making much money. So without mtx and people using it, the game would most likely be dead. And remember, mtx only affects the gameplay of those who use it. It might seem like an unfair advantage, but runescape isn’t like a first person shooter game where those who use mtx will have such a significant advantage over others that it ruins the other players’ experience. It just makes things easier for the mtx user. But doesn’t change anything for those who dont use mtx. And again, i know they go overboard with mtx, but the idea of mtx isn’t the problem. It does matter that base game armor looks unimpressive and pitiful compared to mtx armor. Necromancy armor is very content bare right now if you aren't using overrides you already own. This is the same problem that the other in game armor have had for a very long time. I personally find it a slap in the face that npcs and fort forinthry scenery is full of weapons and armor that isn't obtainable anymore. If a new player wants their character to look like their character blends in with the world, they're screwed. Jagex needs to at the very least change the Misthalin weapons, dark and tower wizard, and battlleworn steel overrides to true in-game items.
again its doesnt matter, just dont buy keys or runecoins if you want to, these outfits and items from these events do not change any gameplay. if wearing a special outfit because it looks cool and cost money, then more power to you@@Youngson113

Is a game like WoW pay to win, where you can literally buy a maxed character and pay your way to get max armor just because the option is there?
With that logic, any game is pay2win as I can just spend hundreds on an account and be a top player. Literally every game.
@SeanOptimoa Yes almost every game is pay2win. Also big WoW content creators like Asmongold, Savix and etc even said WoW is 100% pay2win. People still play pay2win games because it's fun. It's that simple. RS3 is 100% pay2win same as WoW and GW2 and I have thousands of hours in all 3 of those games. I still play it knowing it's pay2win but it's still fun for me. Hell even ALL of the OSRS community knows that RS3 is 100% pay2win and that's why people like OSRS better and OSRS more players and content creators.
This is basically the universal belief that almost every believes.
If you can buy gold with real money and then use that to buy power in the game then it's pay2win.
That simple. Doesn't matter if this or that or how small it is if you can do it then it's pay2win.
The only game that I can really know that isn't a pay2win mmorpg is FF14. You can't buy good because they don't sell gold and their mtx store isn't even in the game. Their mtx store is on their website and nothing on that store sells power because it only sells cosmetics and mounts. Maybe it's because it's a Japanese eastern game.
At this point they might as well make the cosmetic override a real armor and weapon since it looks better then the real armor and weapon and they should make it stronger lol😂
the only override I use is the 15 year cape, other than that I like to see what im actually wearing so I can really care less about a cosmetic item.
I'm sure you will be able to get them later or other ways, people who are impatient will spend the money to get it. I'm not upset about it.
I love rs3 but I play osrs because the difference is one community complains about mtx but does nothing about it while the other would quit if one mtx was added. Once one mtx is added to a game it’ll get worse and worse. Stop it before it spreads.
They need to make keys drop from mobs etc. That'll sort the whole thing

no one is telling you to buy keys tho, its not like these outfits change any game play.
It does matter that base game armor looks unimpressive and pitiful compared to mtx armor. Necromancy armor is very content bare right now if you aren't using overrides you already own. This is the same problem that the other in game armor have had for a very long time. I personally find it a slap in the face that npcs and fort forinthry scenery is full of weapons and armor that isn't obtainable anymore. If a new player wants their character to look like their character blends in with the world, they're screwed. Jagex needs to at the very least change the Misthalin weapons, dark and tower wizard, and battlleworn steel overrides to true in-game items.
again its doesnt matter, just dont buy keys or runecoins if you want to, these outfits and items from these events do not change any gameplay. if wearing a special outfit because it looks cool and cost money, then more power to you@@Youngson113

There's nothing wrong with adding cosmetics that cost money, the problem is adding to treasure hunter / gambling mtx and only giving players 5 days to get it. I think it would be great if they added it to solomon's store for $20 or something. Just don't make it so players aren't sure how much it will cost them and don't give them fomo

People can’t even complain. They had free cosmetics from Hero Pass and they complained about it. Made Jagex get rid of it. Now they have to pay for what they would have gotten for free. They deserve this because it’s the player bases fault. 😂
