I had a 2001 Golf TDI that I put 393K miles on before I sold it. I still have regrets about selling it, even though I wound up buying a mk7. There was something great about the mk4 - it was modern while still being a bit simpler than the cars from today.

I have the mk4 golf gti 180 6 speed. It's got a few engine mods & is great fun to drive.
Fast becoming a classic as all new cars looking the same these days. Love my mk4 👍

Just got mine , interior is good but the Fran in the back hangs off and needs a new radiator fan

Great vid, I’ve had 4 GTI’s plus a Mk4 R32. Couple of things to check and it’s happened twice to me with different cars and also my friends is the clutch pedal weld snaps so the pedal goes right to the floor...easy but awkward job to do but I’d buy a spare just in case. Also the secondary air intake system can split, the early cars didn’t have these (agu code for example) but again it’s happened to me twice. It happens for about 10 seconds on start up until the unit seals again then it will just stop, very loud and embarrassing 😂. Have a look on the net, might just help a little 👍
Paid £450 for mine, 110k miles, had new clutch and full service history, 2nd owner...

Thanks Sean, will be doing some vids on the Golf soon! Electric steering is better for fuel economy as hydraulic relies on some power from the engine which is why it's been heavily adopted. also the GTI has a stiff suspension so you will feel it over bumps etc
Lol no, MK4 Golf suspension is THE WORST. Doesn't matter if its the GTI variant or a TDI. MK4s drive like a boat

I think it's a little bit expensive for it's mileage but they going up in price. I own vw golf mk4 1.9 diesel. I'm looking for something to show up at the moment like mk4 v5 or gti But still looking. They are really good cars

The front discs 'were' and 'are' vented including the ones installed on yours
A good ecu tune and you will gap stock R32’s all day
everyone i bought one aswell and after about 7 months of owning one it cost me around 3500euros to repair the things that broke on it. i went for a mot check and thats also gonna cost me more than 2500euros. aka it cost alot.

@@motorthoughts i still drive gti. Most expensive car but definitely the most fun i had in one. like it slaps some modern performance cars with a stage one tune.
Question: How tall are you? It is just so I can maybe have an idea of how I would fit in the car.

I have a mint mk4 gti. with less then 80k miles, full vw sh and only 2 previous owners. Its slightly tuned and its on my channel if you want to have a look.

1900???? i got mine for 600 pounds and it was actually in good condition..no scuffs dings etc you may of paid a tad higher then usual

@@motorthoughts good point haha I think I'm the sixth but 1900 is still quite steep though I'd say 1300 around that mark would be where I would look

The insurance on a Golf GTi in general is quite expensive but especially for new drivers so I'd bare that in mind. It'll probably cost you more to insure then the actual cost of buying a Mk4 Golf GTi so probably not worth it maybe wait a couple years or get a different version other then the GTi? Have a look on price comparison websites and see what you think also bare in mind the annual tax for the car is £300. If you want a fun old school first car maybe have a look at the Lupo GTi should be a lot cheaper to insure and is a lot lighter then the Golf so could be a lot of fun! If not maybe look at an old Seat Ibiza or Leon from the 2000s? They share parts with old vws, are cheaper to insure then a Golf and they're good cars! Hope this helps :)
