    Quick tip: If you glue alot of styrene, buy a bottle of ethylacetate. 1L 10 bucks. Tamiya is a great company and all, but turning 20 cents into 5 bucks is a rip off :p

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  2 роки тому +2

      Sounds like a bargain. I don't know enough about chemicals to be buying raw materials however simple it may seem to someone in the know. This 40ml bottle of Tamiya costs me less than $3 and has lasted me one year and is still 1/3 full even after knocking it over all over my desk once 😂
      For $2 or less a year, Tamiya can have my hobby bucks.

    FANTASTIC!!!!! You did an incredible job on this!
    I like those designs so much, and you combined the best parts on this remarkable build.
    When you were showing how some of the existing bits in your collection fit together so well, I could feel the satisfaction. That's one of my favorite parts of doing scratch/bash builds, when two unrelated things I did not make go together like they were meant to be. I can't say enough positives about the end result you got! Wow.

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  2 роки тому +4

      Wow! Thank you so much! I completely agree about the satisfaction of bashing models together. I feel like I'm starting to get decent results with my crafting but my video production is seriously lacking in comparison 😂

Don't worry about dings, scratches and things I always use them as battle scars it helps in giving the subject that used look. When working with flat stock without details on either side, you don't need to flip your pattern for cutting, since you can flip the styrene when you're done. You might want to do the flip, but that would only be for reducing waste during pattern layout.

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  2 роки тому

      Very true 👍 I was flipping mine because my styrene has a smooth side and a textured side and I want to keep the surfaces consistent.
      Thanks for watching!

    This was an awesome scratch/bash build, I really dig the aged patina to the ship you achieved, though I do admit to thinking you had lost your mind when starting the painting. Can NOT argue with that end result though, outstanding!
    My only nit that I can pick is the size/scale. By using that 1/35 driver dude this ship is teeny-tiny. I would suggest tracking down a similar figure in 1/72 scale, I think that would fit better and make the size a bit more believable.
    Awesome build here sir, thank you very much for sharing and keep on keeping on!!

      Thanks Earl! The scale is pretty close to what I could tell from Ian McQue's art that I used as a reference. I totally understand your point though and I may have done the same if this was a completely original idea 👍

    Super cool! I love Ian's concepts. You mentioned it looks like a mess until the end. I was doing a build today and thought to myself that the whole process is just making a terrible mess, then cleaning it up until it works. Thanks for the video! Informative and entertaining!

    Another way to make curved shapes without heating is to use something with a rounded end like a broom handle.Hold it in a vice or clamp it down, hold plastic with both hands and rub it around the the top with a little pressure. The plastic will start taking on a curved shape. I use the end of my desk sometimes. 👍🏻🖖🏻

      I used that approach early in the video for the strips to go inside of the green spice caps. Unfortunately the compound shape I needed for the base would have only been better if I used a vacuum former or went for a different look.

    I also like McQue's work. I don't know if I would can them spaceships though. Airial vehicles propelled by handwavium is more likely. On one the paper modelling sites somebody once did a 1/35 scale paper model of his Ramora when he couldn't get the resin model from Industia Mechanica. The figures that go with the resin kits are a refreshing change from military ones.

    • @BPCustomCreations

      Yeah space ship is an identifiable term that more or less fits the aesthetic. I had no idea kits were made of Ian's work! You got me excited and then I saw they've been out of print for years 😢
      Hopefully I can get one some day.

    I loved watching this project so much! Two notes: 1) the figurine looks like he is having a pain in the ass (as I do right now. It's slippery in Lithuania this time of the year, fell down :) ) 2) "decentarised" thrusters would make a wobbly spaceship. The wired cables - wonderful idea! I will steal it if you don't mind. Attention to details just blew my mind. And probably a stupid suggestion - you could plant an LED in the tube, holding the ship. Would look amazing...

    Fantastic job. I'm watching videos to learn as much as I can before I dive into styrene, and this one REALLY impressed me.
