Katie is great! My go-to account for the St. Louis Cardinals. Thank you for joining the show, Katie.

It’s not the way Chisholm plays - it’s that he’s used as a primary marketing tool for MLB despite never hitting like an elite player.

I’ve also been confused on why Cardinals display horizontal and induced break on the scoreboard each pitch. I don’t know what to do with those numbers.

all the players on that chart with 3.3 percent had *TWO* players vote for them, from the 59 responses. Flaherty and Anderson had three of 59. Correa 4. Rendon 6. then 19 players had one vote.
of the 30 players who appear as poll answers, 28 of them had three or fewer selections from 59 responses. 25 of 30 had fewer than two responses for them!
aside from the fact that Jazz and Rendon stuck out, there's *absolutely nothing* to discuss here.

eno's points about the celebrations seem kinda bad. He's acting like the same player defends celebrations in one breath but then uses it to vote against jazz in another breath.
is there any evidence that the SAME player holds both opinions?

At what point in the show do they actually show the list? I’m halfway through and I have no context for the discussion.

i think a lot of the jazz hates comes from the game cover tbh. it came at a time where he hadn’t really done much other than one good half season and then he got hurt. i think the game cover has a huge influence on this sentiment though and im actually surprised there weren’t more people saying vlad jr is overrated.

The survey results should be listed by number of votes for each rather than merely percentages since a lot of the votes consisted of maybe two or three player votes altogether.

maybe you get to this eventually, but seriously, what set of a dozen players would have you guys saying "yeah, great, that makes sense! what a great and perfect list!"

i don’t even think it’s that crazy to say julio is overrated.. i mean we draft this dude top 5 now every year and absolutely loathe the decision for the first 2 months. the same thing happened last year but is the end result gonna be the same? i mean likely yes but he’s too hot/cold to be treated like mlb royalty like he currently is

I think the sentiment that Jazz is overrated might come from a belief that the league itself tried for awhile to market him as the next “face of baseball” before he really did anything on the field to warrant that, and it probably rubs a lot of players the wrong way.

Richard Simmons looking dude is certainly enjoying his month. I think he has a crush on Jazz.

what do you want the players to say, man? what list of players for the "overrated" conversation would have resulted in you/others NOT getting a little worked up? If you took any league and asked random players to pick the overrated players, it's gonna spark conversation and outrage. Honestly, a silly exercise.

Been a devout listener since 2000. Eno - Please stop with the racist stuff. The other week it was maybe people were racist towards Angel Hernandez, now the Jazz stuff. Its not needed, at all. I come here for an escape to enjoy our hobby, fantasy baseball, not for social issue discussions. You seem like a great man, father, and sports writer, but your letting your politics trickle into you analysis, and its frustrating.

  • @TonySopranosDuck1

There is absolutely no racism in the question, and to bring that up is comical and outlines the problem with over progressive analysis in 2024. Can the reason why Jazz Chisolhm is ranked as the most overrated player is because he is? I mean scouts, front offices, etc have said hes an interesting trade piece but widely viewed as overrated (and the players did too).
You do not need to give context with questions for it not to be racist (like what?)? this is baseball, and Jazz has been talked about on shows like this - others too - as an MVP caliber player, been the cover athlete for the biggest baseball game in the world, etc while never being more than a ~3 war player in about 5 seasons. He was voted overrated by his peers because hes thought of by outsiders to be an mvp, but hes actually a strong side platoon whos an incredible athlete. I wonder if elly becomes this in a few years (i think elly is too good though)
Jazz could certainly have mvp caliber seasons in the future, but he hasnt done anything close to that to date.

I believe many people view overrated as an insult. I view it as performance versus expectation. Jazz is pretty good but would conclude his performance doesn't justify the hype. He would have to be healthy for a full season and be better than a left-handed Tim Anderson.

Dude you had to try to make it about race? Smh I was enjoying the podcast. It was likely because Jazz is over hyped, he's a good player but is often treated like a star.

Outside of the MLB game cover, I’ve not seen people overhyping him. Eno is absolutely on the money with survey wording having a large influence on responses.

    • @aarongillingham598
      @aarongillingham598 2 місяці тому +2

He said it's because Jazz is an "uppity young black man". And yeah look at the other MLB the Show cover guys, all stars. Whatever, I'm just not going to listen to a podcast where the hosts push a racism narrative that isn't there

Chisholm is used in marketing a lot more than just the game cover
