the black and white bird isn't a crow, it is an Australian Magpie. Very friendly, and smart with a beautiful call, unlike the call of the Australian Raven (Crow)
NSW North coast has nothing on the South Coast! I love the South Coast. Btw, the roo's don't actually chase the lights, it's more that they get extremely disorientated with the brightness of the lights and they jump everywhere. They basically get blinded by the lights. It's wise to go way below the speed limit if having to drive in the bush at night as that gives time to brake, if possible. For your info too, that's a King Parrot. Absolutely gorgeous birds and super friendly too. The wild King Parrots used to fly inside from my deck and land on the back of the couch in the loungeroom every morning for their daily chat when I used to live in Batemans Bay. Beautiful birds ☺
If your in the Australian country one night, away from the large or medium cities in the new phase of the moon. the weather is fine, then just look up at the stars. It's an incredible free show looking up into the heart of our milky way galaxy (only viewed from the southern hemisphere). There are so many stars in the sky, it is so bright from the starlight you can make a shadow on the ground just from the starlight background. Along with 100s satellites and shootings stars all night ..................who needs TV. Awesome viewed from lying on a beach at night.
Ah! Shame you missed seeing Australia rock down below. It’s a hole in a rock where the hole is shaped like the map of Australia and makes for a great photo when you sit in it. I haven’t seen it for over 30 years, but have a photo of myself and then boyfriend (now husband) as a memory from when we visited my sister when she lived down that way for a few years. Beautiful south coast 🥰
Just to let you know, you only really have to worry about the kangaroos at dawn and dusk. It's the wombats you have to keep an eye out for at night. Magpies are amazingly smart birds. It's not like feeding a seagull. You made a friend there feeding that maggie. As someone who lives on the NSW South Coast, we don't see many folk head our way. I've enjoyed this video and the one before.
Great viewing again as always. You mentioned that Tilba Tilba meant many waters. When an Indigenous name repeats itself, it becomes plural. When you visit Canberra, it's only a few of hours away. Batemans Bay to my home in Queanbeyan "Clear Water" near Canberra is less than 2 hours. Looking forward to Melbourne 🤩

Glen, when you’re planning to drive in the outback, you might need different supplies and a different set up. Ask at a BCF store or a 4WD club about where to get the best info and advice so you two don’t go missing out there, because it’s much easier to get stranded than you think! You’ll be in higher temperatures, especially the further north you go. Without the proper gear, the proper tools and equipment, enough water and food, and protection from wildlife and nature, you won’t make it. You can’t rely on internet service, mobile phone service nor GPS, so make sure to have comprehensive maps and even a proper atlas for the Australian Outback /Desert, so you can follow the roads and know the alternative routes, which sometimes don’t even exist, and you may need to backtrack hundreds of kilometres to change course. Floods are an outback hazard because they cut off roads, take out bridges and the mud can bog you down with no means of getting out of it, unless some Aussie comes by with the gear to get you out and save you. Take my words seriously and prepare thoroughly. You won’t regret being extra cautious but you will regret being unprepared!

You can drive at night, you just need to be more vigilant and also keep an eye on the side of the road. Kangaroos and most animals aren't attracted to the lights, they get dazzled and run in any direction...sometimes towards you. But if you are vigilant enough and slow down quickly when you see something then you are mostly fine. My family used to travel all the time and we travelled whenever we wanted or needed to. In fact sometimes we chose to drive at night because is was more comfortable when the sun goes down in our un-airconditioned car. ALWAYS slow down even if the kangaroos are only on the side of the road because if dazzled they do sometimes cross the road in front of you al, of a sudden . They can change direction instantly.
Kangaroos aren't chasing the lights. They are trying to cross the road and are confused by the oncoming pair of headlights. They panic easily and bolt in random directions. Their unpredictability is what makes them dangerous.
@@peterbreis5407 because they are beside the road already and see the headlights coming. You do understand that light is visible from quite a distance?

The Sullivans tv show vibes.
:D Fantastic. I should have suggested that you get some Narooma oysters - best oysters in the world! :D
ABSOLUTELY 100 percent agree!!! My favorite place in the world is narooma with crystal clear emerald green waters, the BEST oysters. Gotta go to narooma bridge seafood though, the freshest
Pity you didn’t stop at lakes entrance. We stay there overnight every time we head to Narooma from Melbourne. It’s a beautiful place.
100%
Same reason you see so many possums dead on NZ roads
Driven at night my whole life, never hit a Roo! Nearly hit a deer in the US though.
In Melbourne Go to Storyville bar
Tilba is where River Cottage Australia is filmed .
Kangaroos aren't chasing the lights. They are trying to cross the road and are confused by the oncoming pair of headlights. They panic easily and bolt in random directions. Their unpredictability is what makes them dangerous.
How do you know they aren't chasing the lights?
@@mohammedbinladen4619 How would they chase something that is coming unexpectedly at them at high speed?
...and they are NOT moths.
@@peterbreis5407 because they are beside the road already and see the headlights coming. You do understand that light is visible from quite a distance?
@@mohammedbinladen4619 That is not "chasing the lights".
Pleas tell me you gave the bird some feed 😂
haha just a little nibble
Woooow!!!! You went to tilba! Did you check out the cheese factory?!
i raised my family in Narooma!
Go to Storyville Bar 185 Londsdale street
The kangaroo etc aren’t attracted by the lights , but if they happen to be crossing the road they get dazzled by the headlights ( like a deer in the headlights☺️).
That spikey animal is an echidna.
Good to see you guys got to Tilba. Very fond memories from back in my Greenpeace days.
Thanks for your great work, the audio in car can be difficult to hear at times, perfect at outdoor shots.
Yeah your right but can't really do anything about it unfortunately as it can be noisy in the car at times :(
Yummm Tilba cheese

30:00. The Land and Animals do not see lines on the ground.!
I like your videos and your banter. It took me a while to warm to the style but i like it. It's quirky and you're open to anything. Make sure you look after the pets well as we have had house sitters that just wanted free accommodation and didn't really care for the pets so much. You'll get good reviews and more places to sit.
They have got plenty of experience by now and know what they are doing.
