So good! As always the camera work and editing are top notch. Excellent use of the wide-screen. Loved when the boat sailed behind you just as you sang "We are the sultans of swing" perfect timing. The way you switched up the solo to make it more 80s was genius and technically impressive. The guest vocal and sax were divine.
That's a version of Sultans that I never knew I needed until now! So sweeeet and smooooth! And those arpeggios in the solo have always been screaming out to be tapped.
Atta boy!!! I love how this sounds!! Lot of Don Henley influence + all the golden decade of 80s, Miami Vice, Phill Collins and 10 thousands stunning emotions!! Cheers from Uruguay!! ✌️🇺🇾🇬🇧
If I was satisfied with saying "you nailed it" I would be doing you a disservice. This is more than a brilliant reimagining; it is a new classic all by itself.
At the beginning it seemed to me a "Brian Enoing" a la "The Unforgettable Fire" (released in 1984... what a coincidence! 😆) but then it got more and more classic 80s! BTW, what a beautiful video!! Stunning sunset!
Not sure if you planned it this way, but I've been seeing stuff about Miami Vice turning 40 and aside from your graphics, the entire mood of this version screams Crockett and Tubbs with a dash of Castillo looking at the Venetian blinds quietly saying, "Bring him in." Outstanding work, sir!
Mark tried to rethink Sultans of Swing with the new line-up. At live concerts with the new band, there are attempts to add saxophone, piano solos and more. But he couldn't even get close to you)
@Dolinga I hate the sax in Dire Straits songs .. Best SoS rendition is on Alchemy, offcourse, no sax but keys in the endpart. That building up to the climax then back on track is legendary
Nice cover; the sax really gave it a bit of yacht-rock feel. What I really wish someone would do, though, is a jazz/swing/big band cover of Sultans of Swing. It seems like a no brainer, but as far as I can tell, no one has done it yet (at least not on UA-cam). Unfortunately the idea is probably not suited to your channel, as it would work best with the horns leading and the guitar doing strictly rhythm, and we would miss the way you make it cry or sing.
I thought that it. *was* written in the 80's. I remember listening to it in the 80s, that's when I first heard it, thought it first appeared. I never heard of it in the 70s, that's for certain.
Well, the Alchemy Live version was from 1984, wasn't it, and that is one of the best recordings of anything in the history of music. Though the '80s was a very funny decade with lots of different stuff going on and this cover certainly puts an interesting twist on it :)
Damn this ones got more production then your normal. Suppose thats a tribute thing to the 80's. I have to ask if the Dijk musicians are related to the Dijks of Letterkenny Ontario?
Sultans of Summer 😁
I was just about to say, that intro is very much Boys of Summer.
@@TheRealMrAndrewI was thinking top gun! 😂
The Boys of Swing! lol!
Sultans of spring...but it's too late 😅
Sultans of summer have gone
Rim shot back beat ✅
Yachts in video ✅

PRS guitar ✅

10/10 …!
That was almost quite literally my checklist!

Pure 80's juice
featuring of Van Halen for the solo x)
Miami vice on the Paterwoldse Meer, bloody brilliant👍
Hahah, bedankt Arjan!
Groningen's eigen Knopfler
Very classic! The sax really adds a nice element! It's so interesting how the same song can sound so different in all your various versions 😊
Thank you! The song really is the gift that keeps on giving, hahah.
This is like Boys of Summer by Don Henley.
Now try to imagine if Boys of Summer were written in 1978. 🤯😵💫
Boys of Swing
A lil bit of Chris Rea here, some Sembello/ 80s tapping there... Loved it all! Missing the 80s...
Stunning! Every 80’s guitar trick. The Mark “EVH” Knopfler embodied!
This is just so brilliant! Totally captures the time, the atmosphere, the feeling! Great job 👍
Thank you!
Man, i was in high school and university in the 80's. Makes me FEEL those years again. Stunning. Just made my day!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
WHAT a solo at the end there, goosebumps.
Thanks!

The guest vocal and sax were divine.
Thank you! Glad you liked it, the boat passing by wasn't intentional but it did add to the vibe! 😄
Yeah, I could see that used on Miami Vice, or in a movie probably starring James Woods as the bad guy.
That's a version of Sultans that I never knew I needed until now! So sweeeet and smooooth! And those arpeggios in the solo have always been screaming out to be tapped.
Dear Laszlo, Dear Marieke, Dear Steven, thank you all. This is so beautiful :)

Beautiful version🥰 singing ..I like it very much..not to forget the sax😍🎉

Brilliant... well worth the wait... the young lady has a beautiful voice...
Lazlo is the sultan of Dire Straits covers!...
Boys of Summer is an epitome of the 80s. And hello Edie Brickell!
Worth a million views. Well done
Laszlo. I'll keep it simple. That was really impressive. I'm also very impressed with the back ground movie!
ha ha...perfect for an episode of Miami Vice...a very cool arrangement, Laszlo, and a flawless performance. Marieke and Steven add that special touch
One of my favorite songs! Excellent rendition! Good job y'all! 😊
Thanks for the birthday surprise Laszio !!
Sultans of Swing is my #1 Dire Straits song.
I don't think you were born until much later, but you brought me back to a teenage memory that didn't exist!
Spectacular.
Hahah thanks! I was indeed born 11 years later, but the music and tv shows from that time have definitely left an impression!
amazing feel of music
Sax solo and heavy guitar finger tapping with shred. Total 80s!!!
My thoughts exactly!
I love the Miami Vice influence!
And awesome music video!!
Thank you!
Interesting, and absolute acoustic genius, but nothing outshines the original!
This is pure art. Period.
WHY IS THIS MORE SOOTHING?!?! Any other bands that sound like this?
Another fine paen to Knopfler's career and work. Loved the low angle shots with it, too!
words ....amazing
It's some time that I follow your channel but this is absolutely a gem, congratulations
@@DavideDevoti Thank you!
I love your work, Laszlo!!
Great version Laszlo. Love it 👍😊😍
Thank you!
This is GOLD!
Just one word: MASTERPIECE!
Hahah thank you!
the soloes are crazy! also the lady got a really nice voice.
Marks trip to Miami left some marks... Wait a minute ... 😅 Cool interpretation! 🤟
Sultans of swing + 80's = Alchemy
You ate just so cool Ladzlo. Loved the last solo x
Great music! Thank you ❤
Brilliant on all levels
I could imagine crockett and tubbs listening to this while driving that lovely white ferrari testarossa down miami straights👍🇬🇧
You were only recording 80 km's from my house?! 😮🇳🇱
Nice job!
Hahah it's only 5km from mine! Lovely lake there.
@@LaszloBuring What a surprise 😯 I really didn't expect you are living in the Netherlands 😂
Keep up the good work & have an awesome weekend! 🤠
Simply Fantastic !
Laszlo eres un genio, una unión perfecta.👍🏽👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥰
Thank you! 😄
Amazing, I wish the baywatch-style intro was longer tho 😭
amazing as always
Dear Laszlo Buring, you are the Puskas and Cruyff of rock.
Hahaha, thank you!
Brilliant performance 👍👍🎸🎸
so bloody wonderful
Brutal !
The Sultans of the Moonlight Shadow;)
That's it!
This will be interesting, the 'Alchemy Live' version sounds very 80s as it is
That's true! This one has a bit of a different vibe though!
Brilliant!

@@LaszloBuring I've been pestering Postmodern Jukebox about it for years to no avail. Maybe someday. :)
Super nice!
Fantastic! 👍
Lukather would approve!!
Half Mark Knopfler, half Don Henley, all excellent.
Another great production Laszlo what's next, if Mark Knopfler wrote "Hotel California"?
That would be epic.
I (incorrectly) thought it was released in the 80s but this is a very cool version
Sultans of Summer
Dire straits meets tears for fears 😊
Both gorgeous and funny. Beautiful.
nice guitar!
Thanks!
Nailed it as usual.
Thanks!
Thank you, Tony!
Mooi dat de clip ook breed is Dat stukje met de saxofoon is ook leuk gevonden. Goed werk! Maar het origineel kan nooit overtroffen worden ;)
Bedankt! En zeker waar!
The sax is great
Boys Of Swing
I'll take the original. Admittedly the guitar at 5 mins in is excellent. Scenery is beautiful.

I'd love to hear how a song from Upstairs at Eric's would sound if it had been written by Dire Straits
Женский вокал очень внезапный, но получилось интересно и красиво.
Thank you, I thought so too!
Magnificent!
I don't care for it personally, but it is accurate "80's-ing" of the song.
Doesn't have the seedy cold rainy night in London vibe
Bedankt
Dankjewel!

Fun rendition!
Splatter some neon paint on your suit, heavier synth…. Then it’d be spot on.
Beautiful, what country is this?
You so great
The Netherlands!
You are Brilliant man! And who would be in the duet? Susanne Vega? Blondie? Chrissi Hynde? Cheers
Love it

Something by Chris Rea
Laszio must have been a child music composer who wrote scores for the Eagles! Who knew. 😊😊😊
A PRS in 1985? Must have been one of the first ones sold!

Damn this ones got more production then your normal. Suppose thats a tribute thing to the 80's. I have to ask if the Dijk musicians are related to the Dijks of Letterkenny Ontario?
I don't think she is! She's Dutch, and the saxophone player's last name is Dik, not Dijk 😁
Something seems to be wrong with the views counter for this song.
❤
Another way to say that 80's were the end of testosterone in rock'n'roll... thank you, grunge!!
Maybe I've missed smth. There aren't women's perfomance in Dire Straits tracks of 80-s.
