Great review, I remember watching this years ago! After 18 years of riding and going through a lot of bikes this one is a keeper. Exceptional power, handling, and brakes with top notch minimalist touring amenities, I love it.
one of the best reviews i have seen in a long time thank you for covering more than just the sport aspect of the bike the review was very helpful in my decision
Always loved the Ninja 1000. It really is enough power for most road conditions and with the bags, makes a fantastic touring bike. Great lighter weight alternative to the Kawasaki Concours for someone who wants good touring capability with a lot less weight to manage than the Connie.
I just traded my 2012 concours 14 for a 15 ninja 1000 for my sport touring duties & let me tell you folks i couldnt be happier, its the comfort of the connie but the handling & acceleration of a sportbike, its an absolute win win.
A good over all talk about the bike, from what he said, and what I've seen, it's a winner ! and it's only 50+ pounds more than a Ninja 650. Would love to ride the bike, that would speak even more to it's long distance riding comfort. Good job & great bike !
Hey Jamie! Great stuff as always. I must say I have gotten into bikes ever since I have come across your material. Can't wait to buy me one and set out somewhere. Maybe someday I'll meet you on some mountain pass somewhere. Cheers!
This is one of the bikes I've been considering for my next purchase. The other 2 bikes at the top of my list are the Tiger 800 and the new Suzuki V-Strom 1000. Planed use is a mix of commuting and touring. It seems that either of these bikes will do all I want, and price is not a deciding factor for me. I'd assume the Ninja Z1000SX would be more fun of the three when it's time to play. Do you have any recommendations on why I might consider one of these over the other?
Check my channel for some touring vids of the Z1000SX. It's not a real touring bike ... as it will not give you the full comfort of a real touring bike, but it is much more sporty :) I was loaded with 2 full paniers, topcase & 2 bags on the rear seat, 50kg total, travelled 7000km through Europe, only 300km highway, the rest corner after corner after corner ... at Sunday twisties fun speeds ... and I wouldn't know a better bike to do that stuff. To give an idea about the sportiveness of the road trip ... First set of tires PP3 = 2500 km & fully up, second set of tires PR3 = 3400 km & fully up, This is a torque monster, with a lot of usable power. Put a 190/55 rear tire on it & the turn in is improved a lot. Put some professional suspension on it (Bitubo) & you have a bike that can hold a supersport in the twisties.
FreEntity I've since taken one out for a test ride, and I found the engine buzz that transmits throughout the entire bike and into your body unbearable. I'm looking into other bikes now, but thanks for your help.
That's a very nice bike probably has a lot of reliability on it I'm probably going to get one soon and how is there nobody on the road that u drove on u must of set that up or something
can anyone tell me about cornering ability like i dont want to do any track stuff but can i take a corner and it start to drag the pegs? are they high enough?
In your case you needn't worry with today's tyre not as much need to lean due to better grip. I have two old sport touring bikes and only in rare extreme situations do my pegs or front of foot ever touch road surface. I am not slow but not too fast rider average ability. If you think that you are less confident rider slow down a bit learn .
Love the bike...hate the pipe! KMW has some ugly ass mufflers man! Saw one of these with a set of A-vics that looked sweet! You should mention your locations in the notes. I'm a 60 year Socal resident and 40 year rider, and recognize most of your locations, but this one has me stumped. 38?
I love the look and sound of the stock mufflers on my 2013 N1k. Super stealthy soundwise. Can’t bring myself to put some cheap looking aftermarket pipes on it.
Has Jamie ever said anything bad about a motor-cycle? Are they all good? I like Jamie, but it's really more like listening to factory commercials rather than a critical insight.
nice explanatory video ... but ... few more powerful a bike ... most expensive traffic fines ... impossible not to be fast a greeting Medel (I hope yours adventure video)

It's quite a shame they didn't put the TC for the new 2014 Z1000.

He's Back...
Excellent riding scenes, good review.
Very nice, but why no option to switch abs off?!?!
Jamie - another great review. Can you list your riding gear in the review comments? Curious about those AStar boots.
Great review and overview of the bike. I think Kawasaki nailed it when making this bike.
Agree! Great bike, I want one
nutnfancy you ruined guns
iDreamOfWeenie how?
How would you compare the Ninja 1000 abs to the Kawasaki Concours 1400?
I thought KTRC is the TC....someone pls advice about it if i am wrong...looking forward for this bike if its really suit for Sport Touring purpose
Jamie, please make a review of versys 1000.

M3RD0CK It is NOT a Kawa ninja!
@@paponeable Except it is. Europe is the only place it is called a Z1000SX. It is even called a Ninja 1000 in Japan.
Is the saddle comfortable?
Yes very!!!
Very well done!!
I can adjust the screen just fine while moving.

Anyone know what highway that was on?
I get my 2015 plate on the 1st March...
Does the 2014 ninja 1000 have a speed limiter?

great review and the bike's decent
funny thing is i was kinda disappointing that it was a 1000 cc because the insurance might be insane
nice bike, good review, but the talking parts were way to quiet.
I want one... I'm gonna buy one
Showing off the awesome "swinging arm" eh? What's that :)
I can adjust my screen on the move by pressing with the finger whilst lifting with the forearm.
Love the bike.
My next bike
Hmm... did sound a bit like just reading the brochure.
10 Grand good buy.
Awesome....
Nice

Shit seat shit mirrors everything else thumbs up👍
Bought mine used with a Sargent seat which is excellent. And I added mirror extenders which is a must.
I disagree, seat is narrow and comfy, love the mirrors and the shape of them!🥰
