- In this video I'll be using the Canon L-Series 100mm 2.8 Macro lens to shoot Macro Photography for the first time. I'll take you run through what I learned along the way, including some Macro tips and my thoughts on the lens!

Always wanted to play around with Macro Lens , Ive only ever used Marco tubes so emulate the effect... its just not the same

It's a fantastic lens. I use it for landscape quite a bit too with my 5DS. It's very underrated glass.

Love a Macro lens for food photography. But you're right... you need a lot of light!!!

Hi,great video, l am new to photography and I am a beginner at macro l got this lens and l am finding it challenging to get a crisp shot....would 1/200 be a go to speed for macro, l am struggling with setting....l use the Canon 90D ....any advice would be great...thank you.
Thank you Fran. I would suggest 1/200 at a minimum - but faster would be better. Having said that, this would require a really well lit subject. Whether it be natural or artificial light.
do you have any noise problem with that EF 100mm f2.8L IS USM macro lens when you turn ON the image stabilization?
I have not experienced any differences between this lens and any others I own in regards to noise. Do you find it produces more noise than others?
Hi Julian! Need your advice, is it worth buying canon EF lens like Canon EF 100mm 2.8L macro IS USM when everyone is going mirrorless? I have plan to go mirrorless (Canon or Sony) but not in the near future since I still have my perfectly working Canon 5D Mark III. Also, I have EF lenses and afraid if I can use it with other non-canon mirrorless with 4k cameras in the future. Thanks.
Hey Mark, I think it is most definitely still worth buying EF lenses. I use them on my EOS R with an adaptor - so if you stock with canon you'll be fine. Alternatively, quality lenses hold their value very well should you want to sell it.

Hey sir did you cropped the image? Because I have a 150mm macro lens and it's not close like your lens? My minimum focus also 0.35 m as well.
Only cropped the image ratio. They are otherwise as shot.
good video. hate that they raised the price on this by 33% in the past year or so. trying to decide between this and the canon 100mm f2.8 macro nonstabilized (non L)version.

I don’t know too much about the T6i. I don’t think this lens would be your best option, but I’m sure there is a crop sensor macro that would be best
