I am rereading the autobiography of Richard Rodgers and how he would have loved hearing Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet sing his immortal songs. Richard Rodgers died in 1979 a year before this production.
The U.S. is fortunate in that it attracts extremely talented people from all over the world. Robert Goulet from Canada, Julie from Great Britain. These two will always be considered giants in the world of entertainment. No one from the new generation comes close.
The music Does exist...the singers and producers who can properly present these songs are few and far between. Ain't gonna hear this music in a 99 cents store !
Everybody always talked about Frank Sinatra as a ballad singer but I would take robert goulet over him in a heartbeat. He could render a romantic song and own it. He and Julie Andrews had more grace and class than any king or queen. They ruled their domain, the stage in the most elegant fashion. Truly two of a kind.
Her voice when she starts singing "It seems we have stood and talked like this before" 😍 and i have always loved this duet/medley of theirs and they sing so well, insync with each other and have great chemistry, they did in the Julie Andrews Hour as well...and i am spoilt by Julie's rendition (which happens with most songs) that this has become my favourite in particularly "Do I hear a Waltz and Falling in Love with love". She sings with so much passion and oh that voice😘
So yes, julie is quite tall,..Goulet is 5 10 at least...and she is almost his height wearing barely any heels. I met Julie in Sag Harbor, and YES, Julie must at least be 5 8 on the lower end. She is a towering presence both in voice and actual height on stage.
I just saw this post. My Robert was 6’ 0”. Julie is 5’ 8”. Their height is irrelevant. Their unique and huge talent is what matters. When working together their chemistry is simply wonderful.
How can any man compare to the talented Julie Andrews. I suppose to some he may have sex appeal but Julie has her own charisma and a very talented vocal range!
Beautiful duet💖… I'm thinking one thing -- is there a complete version of this concert✨? (I simply didn't believe the two musical legends just did a duet and then leave the stage😂… They were important to R&H, so I thought they must have also sung separately👉👈……)
Oh I see the complete version… It's a charity evening, not only about Richard Rodgers. But now that they have some freedom to choose to sing, why didn't they sing Lerner & Loewe? They were the most important actors to L&L and L&L were also important to them. Now that the host mentioned Camelot, and their passes cross did begin from Camelot (though the most important L&L to Julie Andrews is earlier My Fair Lady), then why didn't they sing songs in Camelot? Ahhhh😂~
Danube-y and "can you be"? No *wonder* some people think classic song lyrics are corny and kitschy. Because a *few* of them actually *are*. *That's* why. @___@
Julie had good relationships with almost all of her co-stars. The only one she actively disliked was Richard Harris and, when he got the part for the Camelot movie, she refused to appear in it. It would've been great to have the original stars, Julie and Richard Burton, rather than the dreadful Harris and Vanessa Redgrave.

Now, Bob was born in Massachusetts, but moved to North of Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 13 after his father died.
this kinda of music doesnt exist anymore, that was so great.

Both are in wonderful voice. There were friends from 20 years earlier in “Camelot.” Two very nice people who happened to be very talented.
This is terrific. Huge Goulet fan. He is missed.
His widow Vera Goulet has a facebook page, just in case you didn't know.

Frank said that Bob had a voice as broad as a barn door. High compliment from The Chairman.
Forgot how handsome Mr Goulet was. And could sing too!!!
He sure was and he sure could!
One of the most beautiful performance ever. Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet Richard Rogers
I miss Julie Andrews beautiful voice. This is a treat to watch these 2 wonderful singers. Magical!!
Just beautiful. What an incredible balance of their unique voices....great harmonic blend....sweet!
She is a Goddess ❤️ her voice won't ever be matched. Love you Julie ❤️
Any song Miss Andrews joins in takes it the highest level.
Julie Andrews is just so indescribably wonderful! ❤️
Julie never ceases to be amazing. What a dame
Simply marvellous
Two of the best singers ever
Absolutely exceptional, two of the best, perhaps the best ever. It's such a shame that the video isn't what we have today. Even so amazing.

Seeing and hearing from his young years in Canada, I have been and remain a devoted fan, his voice superb. Margaret Romaine .

I didn't really know that.
YES!!!! That's one of the things that was a big surprise when I met her in Vienna!!!! And her radiance!
Goulet was 6'0", Andrews 5'8"

Hola, lo siento mucho.
No hablo español y no puedo simplemente inventar subtítulos en español por arte de magia.
¡salud!
Bob had long vocal chords, and was overfliwing with testerone, quite unlike all of today's male vocalists.

They are just so special
I saw the announcer's hairstyle and immediately said, "1970's hair" and then it turned out to be 1980.
Okay, so I was one year off. (shrug)
The "so called announcer" is Jon Voight.
I don't care what anyone has to say these two were so in love with each other it's not funny my god
I think their spouses would (have) like(d) to disagree. ;)
Was that Jon Voigt at the beginning?
DAME JULIE ANDREWS
INIMITABLE!!!!!!!!
