Great job hanging this pair of gates guys, really nice work. Can you tell me what size spanner I need to adjust the bottom hinges, it looks like it may be 25 or 30mm, My daughter has bought a pair of gates and has asked me to fit them and I want to have the right tools on the day.
Could have done with some chat on what you’re doing, measurements etc. Eg where to drill the holes in the posts. Seems obvious but anything to look out for?
Thanks for the feedback. I've done other gate installs like this which go into more details. With UA-camr being a hobby getting the job done is a priority on most jobs.
On these ones, nothing. The client added a padlock thought a hole in the top hinge pin so they can be removed if they wanted. Normally the top pin would be hung last upside down, but thats a very permanent way.
Hi thanks for watching. These hinges are very common for these types of gates and far stronger than a screw held hinge. All the weight is directed to the lower hinge so the weight of the gate is put not only onto the hinge but 3ft of post, concrete and soil in the ground.
@@TheCountryCottageGardener thank you for the reply, I just found it odd that a 4 screw hinge has very little room for adjustment on a 4inch post. I dug the holes 2 foot wide and 3 foot deep. Should of asked before I started 🤭
@@prisonss the strength of the post comes in the depth rather than width tbh. I normally use five bags of postmix per post but if you need to bulk the hole out use the old concrete or bits of brick ect mix with the concrete.
@@raljame sorry am in the uk 🇬🇧. I've looked on ebay. Com and found this link. You will need one set of these for each gate www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223688339739 hope that helps

Hi David. I can't remember of the top of my head but am thinking they are 32mm bolts. Good luck with the adjustment and thank you for watching 👍

Lovely job. Where did you buy the gates from?
Thank you. These were made by a local fencing firm

Curious how you fitted the hinges to stop the gates being lifted off... 🤔

How comes you didn’t use the 4 screw hinge...they are a nightmare to fit and keep the gate level...can the 2 screw hinge hold the weight?
