I've made a big oxygen farm with Darga ferns and doing the selection for gas production and decreased water usage, its pretty fun, I now have samples with 115% gas production and down to 90% of water usage, this process is very time consuming, but its actually good bcs you can do your things while it growing.
I wanna see if they will add more genetic modification stuff from SS13. Like the ol "lets take the yield of wheat and apply it to tomato seeds" and then hitting the somatos with mutagen till you get a swarm of killer tomatos.
Even if I was pretty surprised starting Stationeers after a few months of hiatus again - I think the more challenging plant growth is really fun. I mean, I built my Europa base chugged some flares into it - because the convenient O2 atmosphere just needs a bit of love (and heat) to be just fine. And then was pretty surprised, when my newly bought tomatos (... let's say the green box, along with the lander became a victim of the storm) just didn't want to grow, because there was to little CO2 in the air. For me - as a gardnere - it feels cool to do gardening stuff now :D
Given how different devices (such as the atmospherics units) seem to be growing slots for chips, you have to wonder if the HARVIE units might not be getting such an upgrade in the near future. It'd save the hassle of having a wall o' IC housings, though at a cost of additional chips. Tradeoffs make for better gaemplay?
picture in my mind.. developers are waiting for the next video from mick after releasing an update.. sitting in front of their screens.. waiting.. to see what they have screwed up. "oh hell no" back to work, fellas :-)
I ust started playing this game last night. As in, I haven't slept last night, at all, I got 20 hours in already. And I've barely scratched the surface, I can just about survive on Easy Moon, managed to set up a solar tracking system, rudimentary furnace, etc. My hydroponics is still hand-watered, lol. That game is space-crack.
Actually, i kinda hope giving the player scurvy is beyond the abilities of the devs, but giving the character scurvy seems like a good idea if the character diet is poor! :-)
@@Touay. well in one post the devs didn't want to add temp via gas pressure because it would make atmospherics to hard for the players, if I read the post right
I would like for the more complicated foods like pumpkin pie to feed you to 200% so you dont have to eat as often. Then you would have a reward for having a diverse garden.
Well - about challenges. Sure, you can grow potatoes and forgo most of the whole planting / cooking thing. But Stationeers is - imo - a game about challenging yourself once you have mastered the 4 essentials (power, atmo, water, food) So - my first challenge always is: Have something else than those GOD DAMN tomato soup. From a role-playing perspecive, I think I'd go crazy after a month of cold tomato soup. Either canned rice, or if you are fancy like that potato fries :D Then for your next challenge - have some fresh food ... and so on and so forth...
Hello Mick, I was just wondering if there will be more Stationeers videos coming soon? really enjoy watching them and appropriate all the work you do to bring us great content.
Totally agree with your scalability of the time it takes to grow. I just don't get why you should bother waiting for the seeds if you can just replant the plant
There is only one thing I hate now. They took away the option in the settings to disable thirst and hunger. I hate thirst and hunger constantly interupting and I hate wholehartedly farming in any game. The reason why I played Stationeers and not Stardew Valley. So I'll leave this game alone and will see if I'll ever pick it up again.
Removing the slider was a bit of a middle finger but you can still edit the save file change the hunger rate and thirst rate to lower values, That is what I do.
21:30 ... Terraforming... Hm... I don't think it's that impossible to program in. You have most likely some global variables for the world-data - pressure, storms, light intensity, temparature. I mean, you likely won't get some sophisticated perfect terraforming simulation (which isn't even that fun, as it likely takes centuries to do :D) But values going up or down, gas concentrations changing... Some machinery that uses A LOT of resources and power, so your endgame would be a resource rocket fueled system of terraforming stations - that doesn't sound impossible.
it seems when i try to supply my harvies with wheat to plant, the wheat disappears and appears again at the playfield origin! anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for putting in the work to let us know so many details of these updates. I totally would have copied off of your exam in school lol. I see a lot of the same people commenting on your videos and you said you’ve been playing for 3 to 4 hours, lmao I think it’s a bit more than that, so I’m curious how many hours we all have. Leave a comment! I’m up to 774.2 hours.
I have 200 hours so I really appreciate a quick potato. Instead of drastically increasing the growth time, how about much more expanded genetics for advanced players with buffs?
The relative dimensions of things are really messed up in this game. Giant steel frame weights just a couple of grams, player drinks somewhat realistic quantity of water, but the problem is that the day lasts few real-life minutes.
@@voidseeker4394 The player drings a lot of water for the fact that there's no water output from the player. A real station you would be recycling human waist. Water should not be this difficult in a base simulator. The ISS doesn't have water problems. They recycle water in real life.
There needs to be a better difficulty setting. I can't stand feeding my suit over and over while trying to build something. I play on easy, and also created my own difficulty that is pretty close to creative. I have yet to play on stationeer difficulty, it would just be a suit feeding simulator. No thanks. Lengthening the grow time is just one more annoyance i have to deal with while building things. I want the game to be more fun and interesting. I'd like the exploration aspect beefed up. I love playing with the wrecks and hunting for loot. But It appears the devs want to make things more annoying. Lovely.
Me, an American: Why is Mick posting about something that updated in March?....... OH! He did DD/MM/YY!
Americans are fucking weird.
Yea like normal people read the date
Me, living in the other 95% of the world
Ah yes, normal
Always appreciate the coverage of the changes. Keep up the great work Mick!

That is a point. You have grow plants anyway so having the genetis project cooking in the background is a good idea.

SS13 was the inspiration for this game so it will be interesting to see just how far they go. You might find a need for the security printer.

Waiting for chicken genetic modification.
I like the idea of growth rate being influenced by difficulty.

A glass door refrigerator would be great!
Generally some positive changes, thanks for putting this together!
Actually you can pick up the yield partially and there would be seeds after all. Seeds will sprout if a single crop is still there.

I think that is the whole point if beta testing.
Tomatos like the mars day/night cycle.
think i'll be sticking with a potato to keep me nourished. Mark Watney style

Do you think they will add nutritional values for each plant requiring a diverse diet?
I'm hoping they will add fruit trees and herbs.
oh yes ... some variety that would make more of a challenge .... maybe give the player scurvie if they only eat potatoes!

I would want a few seeds just in case, for a rainy day. (Or a big explosion day)
seeds are good to store
They don't deterioate. I just feel safer to have a locker full of seeds of any kind - for... reasons.
How have you putted the grow light like that on the wall ? what have you used ? is it just the stronger cable coil painted white ?

I do wish there was like a slot on higher tier suits that let you slot in a water bottle so you dont have to constantly be drinking every few mins.
