Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лип 2024
- With the front of the car already in place we move on to the rear suspension and upgrade to uni-ball bushings and new DRS adjustable Porsche 935 style spring plates.
This episode takes us through some of the issues getting this installed and finally puts the car on the ground for the first time...in a very long time!

UA-cam is such a goldmine.
This channel is pure gold: great editing, narration, explanation, and interesting… 11K views 🥺
Thanks for your very kind words!
This channel needs more support !!!
Thanks!
Best build on UA-cam. Content is fantastic, very informative. Cars going to be a real weapon. 👍🏻
A weapon needing a license ;-)
Instablaster...
Here before this channel gets to 1.82 million subs - instead of 1.82k; best "undiscovered channel" of 2021 so far.
I’m looking forward to 1.82m ;-) 💪🏼👍🏻👍🏻
Bravo. My new favorite build. I wish I had your budget tho...
Enthousiast dealing with your technical choices, design options and skills. Impatient to see you enjoying driving it and may be still upgrading your car. Thank you for your vids. Congrats from France.
Thanks and keep the enthusiasm going 👍🏻👍🏻
thank you for the effort made, i have an SC in the garage in pieces and this keeps me motivated to get going again.
Very high quality content, love the presentation, pace, level of detail, absence of drama and “bro culture”
Above everything though it’d your Chapman-esque philosophy to engineering I admire ...Add only simplicity and lightness, where possible make every component multi task and look elegant.
Bravo from Wales. 👍
Thanks for the great comment!
I laughed at 3:45 when you said there has to be a limit on the changes. Really?! With all the changes you have made, NOW your putting limits in place. LOL
I get your point and I'm still trying to convince myself about it! I was literally a "yes" away from welding in a rear subframe from a Porsche 993 until my sanity kicked in!
Another great video, thanks for sharing, looking forward to the next episode already!
Me too! I hope to do the cockpit next time!
You continue to impress. Love this build.
Thanks Nick!
Really enjoy the videos. Had to quarantine and blazed through the series of videos. Keep up the great work!
Sometimes a bit extra time at home is useful for watching some UA-cam ;-)
I thought you'd go to poly bushings. Instead you get solid metal lol 😄
Amaze Balls!! great watch
As usual, great work!
Thanks Kris!
Yes was waiting for new content anxiously 🤩
Time flies and this weekend I got some of it!
These really are great videos. Slowly starting to like Porsches
Once the Porsche bug bites it bites properly!
These videos make me feel bad, showing everything I could have done, should be doing and everything I am doing wrong on my 964 build.
See it as input and possibly opportunities to make something in the future!
Amazing channel !! Thanks to share all these details about your 964!!! Mine is a C2 1990 stone grey 👍🤟 i will follow you
Thanks! Love the grey color!
I love your work mate💯🍻
Thanks Niks!
Amazing
Suuuuuuper cooool Jonas!! ❤️
Awesome!
Best video yet.!!!
All with the help from DRS!
This makes me happy, ITS so much easier throwing kr at my 964 when I see you gong mad in every apartment off it. Makes me feel great about my CAR economics😂 kidding aside, great video and so easy to follow with great explanations on every part! Roumours have it Ed China was a apprentice at Island works,
Thanks for the kind words. I would like to feel better about my own car economics ;-)
Is it just me or does this guy look like Ronan Keating? Awesome project though😂
I'll take that as a compliment :-)
Loving these videos. I can only dream of taking on such a build - great to see though. I noticed a clamp still in place on one of the arches when you were installing the trailing arm - did you have to reglue something from an earlier install?
The rear bumper is still only hanging there and I need to get it tapped and clamped properly with the screws and washers 👍🏻👍🏻
i like the final cooler setup.. what about directing some of the air after the coolers to the brake ducts? Big brakes need lots of air cooling
I’m really happy with how it turned out! I will find a way to blow over the brakes as well. I have a few ideas already, but need to get a bit further before I see how it pans out ;-)
What you’re doing is amazing! One question: you said that the OEM bushing of the inner arm (the one that contains the toe and camber adjustment) has a sort of uniball. Mine has the rubber cracked, since it has an uniball inside, do you think this can affect the drive under load or not? Thanks.
Sorry for the delay in answering. I would change the spring plates if they’re broken so that you don’t get into something worse. The lower trailing arm only sits in two pivot points and it could be significant if something happened with it. Just my thoughts...
Hey. These new spring plates are made from spring steel?! I'm not sure, but i saw them at drs site and they looks like made from spring steel. Is it have sense? Firstly sprint plates cooperate with oem bushes on the outside link, which moves from side to side when spring plates bending. You replaced them to uniball so there is no longer way to this kind of moves. And secondly your trailing arms are less stiffness. I'm not sure but i suppose they only disturd now. Am i wrong?
If you ever replace the rear diff the crv rear diff is super light and can handle like 600 hp. Idk about ratios tho..
Edit: nvm
Great content as always do you have info or a video on the parking brake really interested to see what you did there
Thx
I’m also interested in what I will do there… still on the drawing board unfortunately…
@islandworks did you say you had a caliper on order for the parking brake as have been looking at the Willwood ones for mine just need to work out brackets
@@sailrockpaperscissors8261 yes, I have them from Hispec, but don’t think they will fit in the end.
Was retrofitting a locking ring to the wheel bearing an option ? instead of the 4 bolt plate.
Possible in general, but not enough material the way it looks right now. The washer goes flush with the bearing.
As a Swede do you not have to surrender your passport if you don't use Öhlins?
Yes, I need a new passport…
How You made that scale??
A lot of late nights programming Arduino and a Bluetooth protocol…
@@islandworks get it 😅
You could have burned the bushings out, am i right?
Perhaps, I didn’t try that ;-)
@@islandworks i mean i have done that with an old TT front trailing arm bushing. But they hadnt that much Steel in them xD
I did it the trial and error way instead... I’m glad I didn’t film what I did on the other side!
@@islandworks ah dont worry. You are easyly the most underrated channel if it comes to racebuilds. Absolutly enjoying your creativity and i am always impressed how professional everything looks in the end. As well as the fact, that you explain your thoughts critically. Just Perfect,
I can agree that customs isn't what it has been and Brexit doesn't make it better. Hope this doesn't slow you down to much and that you can stick to your deadline 🙂
This time it’s worse than even and I think it’s the Brexit that is causing it.
I swear if you put this thing om bags... ill respect it but no.
