I started watching Crimson Videos 2 years ago. After some personal tragedy, I felt lost until one night while watching my favorite videos on the 2022 guitar build off I decided to give it a try. I Just want to thank my main teacher and master Luthier (though he doesn't know it until now) as he is teaching nuances of the trade in every video. It has helped me through a tough time as well as given me something to aspire to become! Your absolutely ACES Mate! Hope to meet you in person some day very soon!
Manic guitar building at its best!! You never disappoint Ben, I'm looking forward to hopefully hearing this latest build shred before you give it away.😁
I always love the result of a short run, whatever the domain, it goes with instinct and fast decisions. 5 hours, you can be proud ! I really dig the shape and the choice of pickups/electronics. Welldone Ben. :))
Just as! With the tools! It's great to see how you built the guitar. That's exactly how I build in the garage. 🤘. Good work. Respect. Just great BUN 🤘😎
Loved the build. I'm looking at the kits available now, as you didn't use any tools I don't have. The guitar you built only needed one signature at the end; yours.
We got to see the back of your head Ben! Nicely done & edited. I know how it feels to do trade fair/County show Demo's - Now go lie down for a month!!!
Really nice shape on that guitar. Thank God you didn't go with the sharkfin design when you started to change directions on the top horn. I'm hoping to build my first guitar in the coming weeks. You have been an inspiration to me.
I just watched you doing some hard graft on a rickety bench. I’d love to see you do a series on making a portable work bench that you could take to these sort of events. Rex Kruger did one and there’s an amazing Moravian collapsible work bench or you could design your own. I’d love to see your ideas for one.
Ben, when the guitar was being stained, the back half being black and the carved top half natural created an interesting visual. Perhaps a burst from back to top with the burst becoming lighter as it moves up the guitar would be very nice I think. Maybe one build could entertain a finish such as that.
Not too bad for such a quick build. With a bit of refinement the body shape could work quite well as a production Guitar. One thing that would have really set off the grain pattern would have been to use a white or even the gold grain filler with the gold hard ware at least on the top but again you had a short time frame. The only thing I might had suggested on the heard stock was to make the out bound curve on the bottom a little narrower and have just a slight rounding of the sharp corners.
Great build, as always! Maybe you should do a collaboration with the Brothers Make and see what kind of guitar body you can carve our of a slab of their recycled plastic? Could be interesting...
I'm working on a La Cabronita ish Tele build with a stop bar and tune-o-matic bridge . Grounding and neck tilt never crossed my mind. Now I fear I'm in way way over my head and past the point of no return. Maybe I can figure out how to make fret buzz and AC hum sound cool 😎
I actually really dig that guitar. I love the natural black finish with the gold hardware! Would have been even better with fire but i guess in that timeframe not an option xD Also Bobby Duke at the end... bloody legend!
Like it Mr Bun Bosch flat bits are ace. Electrician and use them fab. Will be purchasing one of those kits. Single cut single pick up Will you sell finished necks as my first build? Adam South paw 😂🤣
I am not so much a fan of the shape of the guitar, but I am happy for you that you got it done in time. plus the finish with the gold hardware looks really good.
Hi. What is the finish used on the body that wld leave a blonde body looking blonde rather than amber? I assume its a crimson finish but u dont say exactly what it is in the video? Many thanx and great build and video
These kits seem to be really, really thick in the body compared to the guitars I own and have built. Is that to allow for more flexibility in the sculpting and shaping of the body? How do they go weight wise?
Well, damn. I couldn't make it to Maker Central this year. If I could have, I'd have probably stood there for all five hours. Still, 56 minutes is better than nothing.
Hey Ben! Slightly unrelated question, I've just seen a small hammer at the 54:39 min mark. I was give that exact same hammer but the handle broke into 2 pieces and I don't have access to the 2nd piece. I was just wondering how long the handle is as I need to make a replacement in the future. Thanks!
Nice Work Ben. Hey I saw a nice video that could help your Students in building a Guitar. Take a look at this Video and look at the Router Bit. The video that Gibson Doesn’t want to See By Texas Toast Guitar 🎸. Just May the best way to shape your Guitar. 👍🏻
Awesome. I'm starting a build with that same bridge so great to see how Ben measured it up. What's the product applied after the stain around the 42min mark?
@@CreaverI thanks! Is this the one that Ben said is actually a varnish and not a lacquer in one of the other builds? Any idea why one would use this instead of the crimson oils?
@@davidcane7211 That's the one yes! It is harder than oil, so a little more protection and cures a lot faster. And like he said it also colors the wood less, if that's what you want.
You get so much more done when not distracted by SuperChats, sarcastic comments, puppies, cows, children, Talitha's trolling and other distractions. I was glad there were a few people who obviously watch the live streams (avoiding timeouts) just to make you feel at home. I actually like the simplicity of that build, the show piece stuff is great but I can imagine someone playing that and not spending half their time about ruining some fancy finish or custom do-dad. ill there bi a short video showing it being played once it's all set up, strings stretched and settled in?
As you said "nobody wants to see soldering"... How about making Crimson drop-in solderless guitar electronics kits, if such doesn't exist yet. Should be entirely possible. Just make them so it's possible to solder them, but not mandatory - so no plastic connectors.
This one does feel rushed and slapped together. The finish is... unfinished and the angle of the side that goes on your lap is reversed so the guitar will dig in your leg... Not your usual standard. Are you really satisfied with this thing being out in the world with your name on it? There's a limit to what one can do in 5 hours, the finished product does not reflect your care and dedication. IMO of course

Yes Ben did it this time no multiple episodes no procrastinating just strength and enthusiasm Hats Off
That black and the blue are lovely together, wow!
The fact that you completed it, well... I cried. #bengotitdone
Ben, you're just fantastic!!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸
Manic guitar building at its best!! You never disappoint Ben, I'm looking forward to hopefully hearing this latest build shred before you give it away.😁
Hey Ben! Good to see you back...we have missed you my friend.
I always love the result of a short run, whatever the domain, it goes with instinct and fast decisions. 5 hours, you can be proud ! I really dig the shape and the choice of pickups/electronics. Welldone Ben. :))
Ben, you pulled it off in the time allotted, well done!
What an awesome build Ben! All those autographs make it even more unique in the End.
I love black and gold together. Great looking guitar. Would love to see him take it in the shop and do more to it to Ben-ify it.
"Became involved" is a great way to say "before they started paying me"
I know you designed it on the fly, but that’s a great body shape, sexy guitar 👍
Love the shape. Love the top carve LOVE the practical finish!
Man, the way that body bevel fits in with the grain structure is killer.
Wow brother! Awesome! Excellent craftmanship and speed. 👍
Lovely! Also inspiring, as it shows what can be done with limited space and tools!
Exactly what I'm working towards with my own channel. And Ben actually finished a guitar in one day!
Inspiring and entertaining as always... and I like that new phrase, ".. If you're not living on the edge your taking up too much space.." :D
Wow! Designed, built and finished in just a few hours and it looks really good. You never cease to amaze me. Well done!
Just as! With the tools! It's great to see how you built the guitar. That's exactly how I build in the garage. 🤘. Good work. Respect. Just great BUN 🤘😎
French curves are your best friend when designing horns and headstocks!
You are a brave man mister Crow . Nice job 👍
I like seeing what time piece you've chosen for the build. Loving the Sub. 😀
Black & Gold is an elite combination.
Loved the build. I'm looking at the kits available now, as you didn't use any tools I don't have. The guitar you built only needed one signature at the end; yours.
I actually love that design! Modern but classy!
We got to see the back of your head Ben!
Nicely done & edited.
I know how it feels to do trade fair/County show Demo's - Now go lie down for a month!!!
What an amazing video!! And what a highly desirable guitar 💕
This is exactly why i love your channel, Ben. 🤘
Really nice shape on that guitar. Thank God you didn't go with the sharkfin design when you started to change directions on the top horn. I'm hoping to build my first guitar in the coming weeks. You have been an inspiration to me.
I really like that design. Might borrow it for a bass.
The look turned out amazing tbh
awesome job for the amount of time you have that guitar is beautiful anyways love your videos keep up the great work and I'm going to keep on watching
Well made. Congrats on your timetable.

I would like Ben to have sanded it after the staining, and that would have brought out the dark grain against the lighter surface. Then finish.
Killed it. Gorgeous instrument.
Thing looks epic!! Love the blue with the gold
Well done!
Man vs Guitar - the rickety workbench challenge ;D

Great job Ben

Love it Ben, 'don't use masking tape for depth on your drills!' and then ...
I actually really dig that guitar. I love the natural black finish with the gold hardware! Would have been even better with fire but i guess in that timeframe not an option xD Also Bobby Duke at the end... bloody legend!
Like it Mr Bun
Bosch flat bits are ace.
Electrician and use them fab.
Will be purchasing one of those kits.
Single cut single pick up
Will you sell finished necks as my first build?
Adam
South paw 😂🤣
Ok hermano que crack !! Hermosa guitarra !!!
I hope i can be as good as this guy one day
Nice work!
I really like this "fast build" ; would love to hear how she sounds.
My guess is that it will sound like a solid body guitar with P90 pickups. What else would one expect? 😁
That's a pretty fine looking guitar for about 5 hours work! Very well done indeed, what does it sound like?
This is awesome
Nice body design
I am not so much a fan of the shape of the guitar, but I am happy for you that you got it done in time. plus the finish with the gold hardware looks really good.

When are you gonna finish the travel guitar man
Top stuff.
hella wicked.
I laughed when I realized that Ben was going to have to use the dreaded jigsaw!

There's just something about cutting that feels so human. Calling Dr. Jung lol
Cutting wood I mean...
What was the finish you applied it didn’t look like your Penetrating/high build oil?
Hoping for an answer to the finishing products used here too. Seemed like a great result and super fast drying.
Americans please note at 0.12s "It's based on a Crimson kit" not "based off of".

The Picasso of guitar builder's!!💪😡🤘🎸
What kind of handsaw do you use there? How many power has it? And. Wich type o blade do you use,,,? Mines bends to side if the wood is too big.
"One day builds never take one day" Ben "Yeah Ima get that tattooed". Well Ben you said it...
Nice Work Ben. Hey I saw a nice video that could help your Students in building a Guitar. Take a look at this Video and look at the Router Bit. The video that Gibson Doesn’t want to See By Texas Toast Guitar 🎸. Just May the best way to shape your Guitar. 👍🏻
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space. 😃
Triton, Ben's Hard Head (hardhat with tattoo design).
How thick/deep it that kit body?
Awesome. I'm starting a build with that same bridge so great to see how Ben measured it up.

Its the water bases wipe on guitar finishing lacquer by Crimson Guitars

You kept complaining about the rickety workbench (and rightly so). I’m surprised Triton didn’t set you up with one of their Workcentre benches.
And the shielding??? Just asking...

wait - you're saying CA accelerant is just canned spit??
needs way way more house, lol, im creasing up..
Crazy ⁉️
Why is it no one has ever made a guitar that's a single double single. Where the doubles in the middle on a guitar
35:27 did i hear ben quote nickelback?
Ps amazing 🤩 btw
Early hi Ben!
Is it bad that I enjoyed you "suffering" cutting out with a jigsaw like the rest of us without a workshop & bandsaw? :)
No Mirca sander, poor Ben ;c)
Would have been pretty sweet if they would have signed the back instead.
So … Triton?
Haha still have a voice left Ben?
Only just, main issue was the bench was a few inches too low for me.. my back was destroyed by the end 😞
I miss WotB.
your voice is a full octave higher
So. Just remove everything that's not a guitar?
This one does feel rushed and slapped together. The finish is... unfinished and the angle of the side that goes on your lap is reversed so the guitar will dig in your leg... Not your usual standard. Are you really satisfied with this thing being out in the world with your name on it?

Ben is amazing, video is amazing, guitar is cool but ugly as hell in my opinion
The lines of that guitar are truly terrible, looks like something a 12 yr old would do in a woodworking class.
Or a luthier in just a few hours with an audience.. and, tbh, I disagree.. I really like the shape
This is the first time ever that I have seen you make an ugly guitar.
