I was literally saying out loud "why do you have a workbench that wobbles when you use a plane?" and you said "yes, I know I need a new bench." You'll never cease to inspire me, Ben. Partially from your craftsmanship, but mostly because you're clearly a fantastic human who wants the world to be a better place and does what he can to be part of that. Thanks.
Not sure how I missed this build, but I’m more bummed that I missed out on the opportunity to donate during the process. Unfortunately, the need for donations is still very much there. I was hopeful that this mess would be resolved by now. I have no ties with either Ukraine or Russia. The closest I come is a former colleague who is from Belarus (now a U.S. citizen and a brilliant firefighter/paramedic here in Florida). Regardless, I want to thank everyone there at Crimson guitars for stepping up and having the stones to take both a public stance on the invasion of Ukraine and for taking action in the most meaningful and helpful way you possibly could. Good on ya, brother! Let us all hope and pray and do whatever else we can to help our Ukrainian AND Russian friends who want to see the hostilities come to a very rapid end. Also…absolutely brilliant wood working and design as usual.

I worked on a block of ebony back in the 1980s that appeared to have small particles of gold in it. I had picked up this scrap of ebony from MacBeath Hardwood in Berkeley California. Never could understand those particles.
I've had two instances where clamping the FB has broken the cocktail pin and the Freatboard has moved :( so Check it carefully after clamping. I will get better cocktail sticks !! ;-)
Here's a challenge for you: build a guitar without glue and not from one piece. Exceptional joinery needed, but you can use CNC and special router bits.
Hopefully, since you have the time, you will honor this country, and build a proper CNC'd ''coat of arms" with proper colors and silver trident 12th fret inlay. I also suggest you make resin 2mm dots for the fretboard in blue, and yellow; blue at the top for the first positions, and yellow after the coat of arms at the bottom with yellow, small subtle touch. You can also make a 4 mm yellow and center dot a blue inside, for standard center inlay dot. The build is beautiful thus far, it would be a shame to not go all out when you have the opportunity and tools at your disposition.
With your love of hand tools and the forces generated while using them, a really heavy Robo benche with an uber-thick top would be the bee's knees. It would not move at all... :) You might have a conversation with Matt Cremona about that. This is a great build that really takes folks through the steps and why which is an always appreciated thing about your build videos!
PPE is a mixed blessing. As you said, sometimes it is essential but there are times where the PPE could help but can also hinder the work. I work in a lab with some really nasty (sometimes fatal) chemicals. Sometimes I feel safer working with the fatal chemicals without PPE, because I can feel what is happening and where things are. I have faith that you know, full well, where you need to use PPE or not. Keep strong brother, and you r passion to help the people is Ukraine is beyond admirable!
No one in their right mind would try to build a sturdy long lasting workbench - atleast from scratch - in a one day build, even a week is kind of a stretch. Just the dressing of the wood would take a day or two, depending on the design and stuff. Gluing together the legs and top, you got another day, then handplaining the top and legs, cutting and chisseling, routing for the vices etc.. And yes, I am speaking of a real beast of a workbench that wouldn't move a millimeter if you hang on just one side :) but I think Ben should go for it, he deserves a sturdy beast of a bench at this time! :) As much is I enjoy making fun of Buns capabilities to estimate how long one thing would take, I am pretty sure he won't go with 1 day build not even 1 week build in this case :)

A smidge under £13k headline at the mo, before raffall+UA-cam platform tax and other costs etc. And still about a week to go. A viewer at Google was trying to get the yt superchat tax waived. The DEC appeal hit £200m so the £25m of matched funding from UK gov is already oversubscribed, but maybe they increase the limit. The net proceeds from the Crimson effort could jump around dramatically (or double!) if those other factors change.
Just an idea… Maybe it could look cool if the headstock is stained in the ukraines colors🤔 With the line between yellow and blue being blended together or the colors creeping into one another.
I think it was suggested on stream and the response was staining brown wood yellow is hard and wouldn't colour match the flag closely enough, and fade over time. But that was also when it was still a 1-day target. Maybe now its over-run anyway, white veneer and uv-stable topcoat is possible. Even if it's only the truss rod cover. 🤔
