You're very welcome mate. It is an Eau de Cologne concentration. So if you spray double, you'll get a more parfum like experience. I do think the smokey, leather comes from real Labdanum and Castoreum. I've read that Edmond Roudnitska was working for De Laire at the time, and he developed most of the base blends they used to sell to other perfumeries to riff off. Seems like most of the major houses of the mid and late 20th century used his dozen or so base blends to create their fragrances.

Rich Mitch has been talking so much about Rochas Femme that I tried the current EDP for the 1st time last week and I instantly fell in love with it. I loved the evolution of the fragrance which is so unlike the linear modern fragrances. After discussing with Dusan yesterday (he strongly recommended me to buy the Rochas Femme Parfum de Toilette) I've purchased a bottle of the Parfum de Toilette and it is now on its way.'
Gorgeous fragrance Femme was first given to me in 1972 as my first fragrance. Gifted to me by my Godmother on my 12th Birthday. As your video played I just had to grab my current bottle to enjoy while you were describing it. This gift set me off into a Career within the fragrance industry where I worked with many Prestige Brands. Although after a 30 plus year within this exciting and changing Industry is now just fond memories, I still maintain a very extensive Fragrance Wardrobe. The love is never lost. Have subbed up to your Channel and can't wait to hear more reviews on old favourites. Currently L'air du Temps, Femme, L'heure Blue, Youth Dew, Estee, Tentations by Paloma Picasso, Gucci Accenti , even Kim Kardashian because I love the Gardenia so much. These are just a few. Once a fragrance girl, always one. Still have Blue Grass, White Shoulders and a few Juicy Couture because I like the bottles. Also some Anna Sui, Clinique Elixir to name a few. I guess I am a Fragrance a holic. Wear my favs to bed just for my own pleasure. Spray sheets and pillow cases as well as my lamp shades and shower curtains. Which scent is always dependent on my mood. Tonight FEMME it shall be ❤️
Femme is one of Roudnitskas masterpeice creations... even now it is underrated... it should be hyped much more and given many more flowers and praise... but there you have it... a but of a hidden gem... amazing & one of the best chypre frag of all time Glad to have you as a sub & glad to be found 😊
Great comparison.... You've helped me decide that the Perfum de Toilette version is as far back as I need to go. Sounds more my jam deeper darker... Apricot plum rosewood in the top. Nuff said. Lol. ✌🏻

Haven't sampled Rochas Femme, Guerlain's Mitsouko, or Eau de Hermes. I do enjoy Chypre Palatin, Ottoman Empire, and the list goes on, so I'll have to get my nose on these. Pewter or Coppertop Eau de Hermes. Parfums de Toilet for Rochas Femme. Got it. Excellent comparison video.
Yes! Great minds think alike. 😀 I have the current edt and it is the best $30 I’ve ever spent on a ‘fume and easily beats most of my $180 fragrances. I struggled with the plummy fruits the first couple wears but then I started getting the dirty cumin and the rich indolic flowers and I fell head over heels. It is the most carnal, sensual yet sophisticated perfume imo and my fave chypre at the moment. I want to try Diorella too though fear I’ll find it boring in comparison. Great video, love the off the cuff 🐏 ram-bles.

@Heinke thanks so much for giving me your take! I too didn’t like current Diorella upon a brief test at Bergdorf Goodman so was reconsidering. Now that you say it’s good I feel better about pulling the trigger! As for Musc Tonkin it’s more skanky than Femme and leans more feminine to my nose. Haven’t gotten the courage to wear it in public yet but i love it’s unapologetic and oppulent effect.
LOVE Rochas Femme Parfum... One of my favorites! FYI that weird concentration of "Esprit de Parfum" (notably used by Dior but also a couple other maisons) is NOT their nomenclature of extrait... It is, in fact, a concentration BETWEEN parfum and edp... In Dior bottles marketed for USA they even sometimes say "soft perfume concentration" underneath the "esprit de Parfum" print ... And you can definitely tell the difference when worn side by side, though in my experience the scent is IDENTICAL, and only the performance differs slightly)...
From my understanding the esprit de parfum for Dior & parfum de toilette for Rochas are just their ways of saying EDP before the standardized EDP was agreed on as a thing by the houses Guerlain also used Parfum de toilette
This little blurb gives a more detailed look at 'esprit de Parfum' (as used in particular by Dior) which seemingly does have a significantly higher fragrance concentration than pdt or edp... Again I've ONLY experienced esprit de Parfum in 3 Dior fragrances but they are definitely heavier hitters than edp / pdt counterparts... Truthfully I'm not exactly sure why a brand would create BOTH an extrait AND an esprit... They really do behave and smell almost identically to me (I'm obviously just an enthusiast!)... But notably better performing than Parfum de toilette... The only fragrance I can think of that has ALL of these concentrations and you can REALLY experience the similarities and differences are in POISON by Dior... You'd also need to find a pristine (sealed) vintage bottle of the esprit to make a fair comparison since they haven't manufactured one in several decades...

i might have my hands on the Parfum "Extrait" Version of it 28ml of 30ml for 60€ i think it's a decent price but is it worth it, especially that currently the 100ml Edt goes around 30€!!
Love rochas femme I love the the cresp edp alot too. I need some help looking for eau d'hermes, how the hell do you search for it? Every time I try to search for it all I get is Terre d'hermes and eau des mervellis and shit like that. It's driving me insane.

I did got the vintage edt last week. Exactly same bottle as yours. The first time I sprayed on a paper I only can praise God of how beautiful it is! What a fruity chypre! Roud and juicy and deep 🤤. To me the body is like juicy ripe plum on a cloak of cumin and the drydown is benzoin, vanilla, landanum and oakmoss still surrounded by the cumin. Back up bottle worthy 👌

With respect, I am reluctant to say so, Ramsey. My nose portofolio is still very limited, my fragrance journey has just started last January. So I still need to sniff more 😉. I’ve spotted many vintage 80’s floral & fruity chypre here and I plan to keep buying at least a couple or three in a month to train my nose. Keep great things coming, Ramsey 💪🏻
BTW, I think your bottle is a late 70s to early 80s. They stopped making parfum de toilette in 88 when Cresp redid it in 89 and rereleased as an eau de toilette and eau de parfum.
@@RamseytheRam After spending some time on various sites, examining photos of bottles, etc...I do not think that your bottle is as old as Pyro thinks. Initially, I fully concurred with his thoughts. Is it your thought that your bottle is a post 1989 aka Cresp reformulation? At first, I thought that since your bottle is PDT and that was not used after Cresp, now I am not so sure. I think that Pyro does not think that there is any cumin in yours because he thinks that the bottle is older than it is. I think that they may have put Cresp reformulation into some bottles that were PDT. I am just putting this out there as FYI ....no need to answer as it would be cumbersome.

Gr8 review Ramsey, I have several vintage Femme parfums in my collection, the oldest from the mid fifties, it contains real grey amber, damask rose and immortelle, I purchased the flacon (Lalique) from a seller in Massachusetts many years ago and still going strong, you are correct in saying that the older vintages are more refined than the reformulations done by Cresp, I have sooooo many vintage Femme parfums and I luv & adore everyone of them, they don't make em like that anymore...🤒

It's a Roudnitsksa, that's enough for me. Have experienced Femme from the early 80's til now and all are so lovely, certainly gets dark over time.

Hermès did and still do, I believe, call their femme marketed EDPs Soie de Parfum (Silk of perfume). Caleche does anyhow... smell swell & be well. xox

Gr8 review Ramsey, I have several vintage Femme parfums in my collection, the oldest from the mid fifties, it contains real grey amber, damask rose and immortelle, I purchased the flacon (Lalique) from a seller in Massachusetts many years ago and still going strong, you are correct in saying that the older vintages are more refined than the reformulations done by Cresp, I have sooooo many vintage Femme parfums and I luv & adore everyone of them, they don't make em like that anymore...🤒
Chypre has a p, not an f. It means Cyprus. Now, you're gonna tell me that you don't care, and I knew what you meant... Doesn't stop you sounding like a noodle, though.
