Great video! I have had one of these for a couple of years and I love it. I use it loads at my local park pond which the model boat club abandoned due to weed and sludge issue....which is obviously no problem for an airboat, so I get the pond to myself most of the time. I would recommend the following mods...... Better motor and 3S. I blew up the original motor running 3S. It will properly bomb along on 3S. ESC with reverse... even with 3S it can still get stuck on thick weed. The reverse will come in handy, although don't give it to much throttle in reverse or you will flood the back. I put some rubberised 8mm tube all the way around the edge of the boat. It helps with buoyancy at the back and deflects splashes and helps keep the deck dry, plus acts as a bumper if you hit anything. I got a decent marine servo and mounted it on the cage right by the rudders. I had problems with the long linkage getting jammed and burning out the little servo. It also frees up space in the main compartment for other things. I built up the lip around the main compartment with styrene sheet, this helps keep water out.
Nice! And finally someone who looks at a drawing and sets the engine supports in the correct direction; pointing forward! The boat can use all the weight it has as much forward as possible. With a firm breeze the nose has a tendancy to catch air.
I have one of these from Hobby King. I've made a few mods to mine and added a cheap Barbie doll type figure as a pilot. A really fun model in the right conditions. You have the perfect spot where you made the video. These can also be good on snow so fun can still be had through the winter.
yup, cheap hollow dollar store generic "Barbie's" weigh nothing. easy enough to shorten the legs, heat bend or cut the knees to position and glue her down.
Early Squad!! Lol, this looks like fun! We have done a few swamp boats, and one of my favorite things to do with them is run them in the snow. Fun video, keep up the good work brother!
I bought my basic kit for cheap($28) 3 years ago from HK... finally got mine done... actually spent 2 days...most of this time was just deciding on setup and tweaking mine just right... i ended up using a 60 amp esc, 28 26 -2200kv a 6x5.5 trimmed down to a 5.7'' and balanced.. 3s 1300 40c... only moding was making my motor fit on mount with some drilling and filing... I tested it on my carpet for 5 minutes has a lot of power and esc and motor were barely warm ... i have rx ,servo and battery under the cover and esc on out side... i hate bunching and smashing wires to fit...plus esc likes air... if i feel esc is going to get wet i can dab some silicone on front and back...also i added 2 small carbon braces to the motor tower, which took out most of the floor flexing forward from thrust... i estimate my setup has close to double the thrust as 3s stock motor set up... i will take to the pond very soon...thanks for sharing
I love airboats. My father and I scratchbuilt an air boat which had a 38mds if engine on top and it was completely insane. Get a swamp pickup truck and trailer to take it down the swamp
I have the Cajun Commander airboat which is bigger and wider with no chance of flipping. The S.D hull looks narrow so anybody have issues with flipping over. Still might get one though
Ditch the prop guard cage and seats, and it does much better. You'll get rid of some of the unnecessary high center of gravity added by weight and aero drag A small styro Beer cooler lid with get you a brushless airboat in a afternoon or less depending on your skills. Dumas 28" Swamp Buggy under construction, the old fashioned way, by building it myself.
That looks fun! I need other types of RCs on my channel soon. I really like flying helis. Boats are fun too till they capsize in the middle of the lake lol.
True, but have you seen this dawg run with a bigger motor, esc , prop, battery and 40c 1300...? great thing is you can make this boat waaay better if you want...that also goes for your boat...
This is really cool my friend I saw one of these a couple of weeks ago on banggood and I had a thought to self this would be pretty cool to put a camera on get some nice footage of calm streams or rivers awesome video mate😊😎👍🇬🇧
Really amazing little boat, dude! Looks to be a lot of fun! 😃 I was thinking about asking my Banggood representative for that "tank"... Whatever it was... But I just changed my mind! 😂
Looks like it’s struggling to run dry. Look into Cajun commanders, mine will run on dry grass, through marsh, thing will go down the street (wouldn’t recommend will ruin the hull lol)
does wonders! little things like going from 3 to 3.5 or 4 pitch can do things too. scratch built single motor hovercraft has to use a 5-3 6 bladed prop so there are always 2.5 blades trying to stuff air through the duct to underneath for lift.
Id really like an FPV system. they seem so complicated to get sorted though. diggital, analog, nothing comes as a kit, very frustrating to piece together.
Cool video mate, It'd be difficult for me to find a safe place to run that here in Florida. Last time I went near the swamp I got spooked by an alligator.
I moved to a new place beside a great big lake at the end of February. Been looking all over but can’t find these for sale anywhere. Do you still have the airboat? I would LOVE to buy it if you’d be willing to sell. Or swap for some cool RC car stuff…
I had the HK version but fried the motor. Ordered the motor for this version but the ‘stubby bit’ that goes into the mount is bigger so eventually (this week after it being on the shelf for over a year!) got round to drilling it out. I’ve always used my Taranis and a normal plane ESC so had no reverse. Does this come with reverse set up out of the box? If so... I need to get the ESC I think. It sucks getting it stuck nose toward the reeds or a wall when you can’t reverse!
@@SteveGoral there's no need to show your face. It's only in the last couple of videos Tomley has started showing his! I approached banggood for products to review for my little channel but they said I needed 10000 subscribers! 😨 I've got a long way to go.

That be real fun
Thanks for sharing some real time video and holding off on the sound bed! 🤙
No probs Rob
I love these boats> You'll need a scale trailor next for and get the hummer towing it.
Looks like a lot of fun. A boat but without any of that pesky getting the prop tangled up with weeds! 😁👍
Yes, goes really well on this type of water/surface
That thing sounds great, looks like a blast.
Was good fun!

ALWAYS have a telescoping fishing pole in the transmitter+battery+tool caddy!
rescued boat's, planes and quadcopters from trees more than once.
The local swamp... 😂. Brilliant 👍👍👍
Yes....haha.
This looks really fun and once again great camera angles🤯👍
Thanks Steve
Really cool boat .. nice 🖒NC❤ back yard RC.AND MORE. 👌
Great shots in that video! Fan boats are great I have the Cajun Commander. It’s more powerful so it has no problem on land.
I think this will be ok with 3s....or a slightly better motor.

This is brilliant footage pal loved every minute of this, I've never seen a boat like this before and now I want one haha 😀👍👍
Awesome video ! Just curious, is it loud ? Just worried about getting in trouble using it in local ponds if its too loud
You need to try something like this in 2024.
Awesome video very nice boat good footage great job thumbs up 👍
Cheers dude
Great video ! Mind sharing a link to the battery that you use? The battery I ordered for mine is a bit too long. Thanks
Best RC i like your video

I love watch ur videos.....how do u get companies to give u rcs to review...n great video btw hoad a nice run time
I guess you need to have a UA-cam Channel, and make reviews....and have some subscribers ;)
Who says you can't drift on water...?
Nice video, I love the air boats!! If you know how to try balancing the prop balance it... it will sound and run much smoother with no vibration.

early morning dew wet grass is ok for these type things, or after a light rain.
Luckily we don't have alligators here in the UK haha
@@TomleyRC I know it, you have found some good spots throughout your videos. I will keep looking for good spots myself 😁
Looks smooth and really cool did it feel easy to roll or was it top heavy and roughly how long was the battery life
Only rolled once, but I had the gopro on the front and it hit a large bit of weed/stick. Seemed pretty well balanced
I’ve broken the steering connector that makes the fins move on the back! Where can i find it?
Is it possible to put a bigger brushless motor in this Air Boat to get more speed from it ???
Yes, i can imagine it is. Or even a 3s Lipo

Boss that mate! Wonder if it would go on snow?
Yes I think it would.... will be awesome! ......well...if it snows!
I need one of these
needs a higher kv 4pole motor but like it
Yes, it's pretty fast.....but could be faster/more powerful!
I wonder what a Triblade would do🤔
Not sure, do they provide more thrust?
@@TomleyRC You will get more thrust but a shorter run time.
looks simple and fun. but im confused. why is it $150?
Good question.... I'm not sure how much these things usually are.
Loving the video, how do you start getting things sent to you for review?
Have a successful UA-cam channel. 👍

Wah so amazing
Well. I have toys for air and ground. I just need water 🙂

If we get any snow too !!!
Yes...Snow!
Would this look scale with a MN 99s? Thanks.
Its 1/10 to 1/12 I use it for 1/10....but the figure I run is 1/12... could fit👍
Try it on ice
Well this is different. Lol, still a cool boat tho!
Rutters is name of parts
steering vanes.
Stronger motor
Good fun this thing!
I thought it was A Real AirBot Lol
Try a hovercraft /drone
Imagine racing a real boat
