    Great reaction. The drag dressing was not about his lifestyle, just some fun that was actually not his idea. People just knew he was gay, he didn’t lie about it and just lived unapologetically as himself. He didn’t confirm he had aids until the day before he died, as it was considered an evil disease by some and he and those around him were already hounded by the ruthless press in the most disgusting ways.

    • @neuralmute
      @neuralmute Рік тому

      Actually, he did have private drag parties for fun with a few of his queer friends, who all had feminine nicknames for each other, including "Sharon", who was actually Elton John. In fact, Freddie and Elton would go out in drag as a disguise sometimes as a way to not be recognised as rock stars in public, as well as it just being fun. Freddie even used this trick once to allow an even more famous, close friend of his to have a couple of hours out as an average person, with him and his boyfriend taking the spotlight off the apparently young, blond guy with them. That guy was actually Princess Diana.

    So he did say "I'm tired". The song "Mother Love" was never finished by him. The Last verse is sung by Brian, and at the time of the release those of us who were fans were, wondering why. When the story came out .... that was hard. Especially with the theme of the song.

    This song is from the last album by the band as a complete four-piece. It was released as a single 6 weeks before Freddie died in 1991 (31 YEARS AGO). The band recorded it in 1990 when Freddie's health was not good, (as Brian says "he killed it after downing a glass of vodka" the video is a retrospective of the life of the band and showing clips worked really well.

    This is one of a series of songs in the last period of the band as a four that are really special in their own way.
    1)THE SHOW MUST GO ON is a perfect gift to show the range and depth of how great Queen was and are still to this day.
    2) I'M GOING SLIGHTLY MAD shows the band's fun and mischievous side.
    3) THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES 'the last song' This is a quite beautiful yet also heartbreaking song. As this was released and the world got to see how ill Freddie was, the showman still delivered a spellbinding performance. For Queen fans this song has to be heard till the very end, and why radio stations are learning not to interrupt it. You will understand why.

    Freddie was an incomparable performer, and I feel lucky to have lived when he was on top.
    Another song by a music legend performing as he approached death that deserves notice is David Bowie's "Lazarus." Bowie was constantly reinventing himself, putting on one persona after another, but I felt that in this final video, we are seeing the real David Bowie, stripped of all the masks.

    • @neuralmute
      @neuralmute Рік тому

      Absolutely. Blackstar is the one full album where I think Bowie finally entirely showed himself. It's funny - in a way I never fully believed he was a mere human until he left us. Same with Freddie, though I was a young who probably couldn't articulate it as well at the time.

    It wasn't your normal type of video for this song because of how bad Freddie's health had deteriorated.
    Brian May had actually expressed his concern about whether Freddie was up to singing or not, to which Freddie took offence and knocked back a quick vodka and said I'll f'ing well do it!
    Freddie nailed it, first attempt.

Believe me, there is no need to pick only one or two songs. Watching it in it's entirety is best. Watching an entire concert somewhere else, or Wembly in 1986 is unbelievable. Certainly working into his last year living. And, .revisiting these cuts from many of the Queen videos is wonderful. Freddie's diploma was in the Arts thus the amazing videos Queen created. Freddie was able to be a musician, to perform until he simply could no more. It's been 30 years since Freddie died. I feel Queen is no more (John (Deaky) the bassist retired in 1997...was practically retired as of a couple years after Freddie's death, but the work they did can be revisited over and over. The music lives on thru others. Roger did a series of concerts (Fall 2021). I enjoyed.He and Brian were involved with taking concerts to huge stadiums until Coronavirus. I'm one of those that can't handle that - thousands can tho'.

    Whilst some consider this as his goodbye. There is also another song that fits the bill: "Was it all Worth it" from the previous album "The Miracle".
    As mentioned he was the consummate performer. So much so that he could still rock the crowd over 20 years after his death with examples being the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics and Green Day concerts in places like Hyde Park or the Velez Sarsfield stadium in Buenos Aires.
    As a line from Epic Rap Battles (Freddie vs Frank Sinatra) states: When he rocks the UK, South America gets horny.

    Thanks for doing this reaction and you are such a cute couple!! Really enjoy you two!!Queen and the Wilburns, can’t be beat! Just a couple details, which, ultimately don’t matter and yet I feel the need to say then anyway! 1. dressing in drag for the I Want to Break Free video was not Freddie’s idea but he thought it was a good idea. I think it was Roger’s idea; 2. He did not go public with his AIDS diagnosis until the day before he died. Certainly, people close to him knew at a certain point, but that close circle kept it very quiet and did not speak of it publicly until after Freddie died. There was a lot if speculation in the press that Freddie had AIDS after he was seen coming/going from his home and looked extremely thin and not well. In fact, the press and lots of people were shamefully vicious about it, kind of proving Freddie’s reason for wanting to keep it a secret; 3. I don’t believe that Freddie was ever married, but he referred to Mary as his common law. Maybe he didn’t know this but England does not recognize common law marriages and did not back then either, but Freddie made his point; 4. Rod Stewart holds the record for the largest audience for a live rock performance but Queen is definitely up there and their largest live concert audience (in one place, without the use of satellites) was in Rio de Janeiro at 250,000 people; 5. Freddie never performed The Show Must Go On in front of an audience. As you said, he was not well when he recorded his part of this song in the studio was recorded. It was released on Queen’s Innuendo album about 9 months before Freddie passed away. And a few years after he passed away, Queen released the Made In Heaven album which includes songs which the band completed with Freddie’s contributions which he recorded about 4.5 years or so before that; and 6. Please don’t stop doing Queen reactions! Thanks!

    Freddie was never married. You touched on a good point...

    I see you love Linda Ronstadt, you should do a reaction video to this. It's Linda doing Opera. The song is "Poor wandering one", from Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta "Pirates of Penzance".

    He died just after this video came out. He was dying which is why most of it was from previous videos. We lost a true star.....

    Please react to Frankie Miller, famous Scottish singer, you will be the first but let me tell you every other reactor will be following you, he's brilliant. Perhaps start with Darlin', good to see you and the best song ever is Caledonia. Please listen to him you'll have chills, just sayin'. Be the first, don't be last, oh man this now sounds like a marketing thingy but it trully isn't. I'm just a fan and he's the bloody best the the UK has to offer, including the beatles.

    Chod, Haven't seen anybody react to the Neville Brothers and I think they're right up your alley. A little Mardi Gras flavor: ua-cam.com/video/8nqSsBWHNj8/v-deo.html
