Another excellent review thank you. Supa Peg is a great Aussie company and more than ever our support for Australian industry is needed right now.
Cheers for your work. 🍺🇦🇺
Couldn't agree more!
I bought a Captains Wing awning from Supapeg to support an Aussie company. I have never owned such a poorly designed piece of equipment in my life. The hinge system is flimsy to the extent that after having it flip upside down twice in very gentle breezes, I refused to use it if there was any sort of breeze blowing at all. To add injury to insult, Supapeg was unable to supply parts to repair it - this for a product less than 18 months old. I rebuilt the entire backbone myself and strengthened it at the same time. Still didn't find it easy to use or have any faith in it's strength, so I sold it and bought a Clevershade. Lesson learnt - poor man pays twice, and you get what you pay for.
I know Im kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good site to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Kohen Carlos i use Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
I have a Supa Peg Rapid Wing awning (Drifta model). It takes longer to setup and pack away than a self supporting awnings, but it can be well adjusted to eliminate water pooling and it sets up stronger for windy environments. I did have it pegged down on the poles one time, and a sudden strong burst of wind, blew one section of the awning over, while breaking a knuckle in the hinge, which was easy to replace. The pole actually came apart with the lower section of the pole still pegged to the ground. The upper section of the pole, blew over with the awning. Hence I always rope my awning down now, if there is any chance of wind. That will prevent the pole separating again. After 4 years, I'm very happy with this awning and have no regrets. Thanks for your excellent review.
That final drone shot was beautiful. What a view
Thanks Josh
Thanks for a great review Nick, after seeing your review I ordered one and picked it up from Supapeg factory. Awesome awning, super sturdy, been using it for the last 4 months, highly recommend, only downside is the buckles on the straps, under high wind they give way, nothing that can't be fixed though.
Also me and the missus love your videos, been watching them for a while now, no bullshit, no bravado, just great videos and good banter between you and Marko, keep it up!
Love your reviews guys. I purchased a swag based on your reviews. While I have been looking at the Supa-peg range of awnings for some time your review has validated my choice here too. Supa-peg make some of the best pegs on the market and our camper trailer came with their poles and pegs from the manufacturer. Good quality products which are Australian made is more important than ever right now. Keep up the fantastic content.
They certainly make quality gear. Thanks for the kind words.
When those plastic buckles break, you can also just use a carabiner. It stays connected to one side and then you just slip it into the other. Not ideal, but a great way to make a field expedient repair that you don't have to immediately fix.
Thanks for the great video. We have the largest Supa Peg 3.5m 270 on #toughtear with a front zip on extension. This has provided 3+ years of great service, we're now looking at a option for drop down poles and the 180 front section. Though we would loose our 2.4m out from the camper coverage. Always great quality from Supa Peg.
Good to see a aussie company do well and going above and beyond. It is cool how u can adjust it down for water run off or to help block out the sun like normal awning. Also looks to be light weight compared to other 270s on the market. Well price for the size at $1500 when other are around the $2000 mark but just for the easy setup of the other brands is why i ended up going ostrich wing and now just updated to a bushwakka as they are a lot faster and less messing around of pulling it tight and having to drop the legs down.
Awesome video guys u got a thumbs up from me. Theres always a yin and a yang to everything
Yeah mate, we currently have the Rapid Wing 4, awesome quality gear. Had a Stand Ezy ERV of their's for 4-5 yrs before that with *LOTS* of use in all kinds of conditions, still good as new. Recommend Supapeg pretty highly. Quick, easy, secure, quality 👌.
Nice 👍
very good!
Keep the reviews coming, as its good, mid week content
awesome review, this is probably the one we are going to get, really the only one that has really good coverage of the back, like the patrol, my 80 series has barn doors and the drivers side in all the other awnings doesn't get much cover.. This review has pretty much sold me on the Supa-Peg Rapid 6 awning.
Thanks Michael. Good choice
Thanks guys for a excellent review , I'm definitely sold been looking for ages for a awning. Also i want second the comment made buy buying Australian and supporting a Australian company.
People are lookin' to buy local durable goods.
Another great review, appreciate the effort guys. Thanks.
Thanks for the review. I think i will keep my Ostrich Wing 3 - 270 Degree Awning. Self supporting in light winds and so easy to set up and pack away.
I am really liking it. Thinking of changing the roll out awning on my camper trailer for a 270 degree awning.. Only thing I am concerned about is the adjustment of the legs, as out camper has a pop-up roof, so the height may be an issue. A rear awning was a $2500 option......gonna check the website.
Great review thanks. cemented my view on a top quality Aussie product to buy, not perfect but great to hear an Aussie company improving with updates
After Buying a Bush Company 270....So glad I didn't buy this pain in the Arse
Good video ; I’ll keep my Alucab awning , heaps quicker ,that’s what camping is about
Might save 2 minutes , but shade and coverage no where near as good , not to mention the weight and height issues of free standing
I must be lazy but after 3 min's nar much better 270's with way less effort/time to set up
Matt Hutch Pleased I wasn’t the only who thought it was an effort
True but the ones that dont have vertical poles are twice the weight, 3 times the price and require some pretty serious mounting brackets. After all that you're left with something that still isn't as sturdy in high winds as something with legs like this one. Just my 2c
Matt hutch which one have you got?
@@yuridaman l don't have a 270 awning, my m8 has a Batwing (l think it's called) 270 free standing. Amazing quick to set up & pack up. Also has the option of using the leg's in windy conditions.
@@mikehunt3102 Spot on Charlie! My new offroad caravan will have this same Supa Awning for exactly these reasons. Plus, made in Aus!
Love the review ,awning and info supplied, But GEEZ that music really annoyed the crap outa me,
Note taken
Great video. Cheers
Love your review lads
I have this awning and agree fully with this review. I actually had wind flip the awning and the design really works well to replace the hinge. It’s basically designed to break and I now carry a replacement just in case. I much prefer this design instead of a strong hinge that would probably break something else less easy to repair.
I can vouch for the fact that it is an extremely weak design, and you should definitely carry a spare! Or you could throw it in the bin and buy a Clevershade rated to 40km/hr winds - without poles and guy ropes. Suit yourself.
Fantastic review - thank you.
Not a bad looking awning. But only thing I like about my darche is that you can free stand the awning before you put the poll down
would be good to see another review 1 year on you guys have had it in some pretty rough weather.
Nice awning but not really very appealing for me. Seems a bit to fidgety just to set up bit annoying it comes with those plastic clips.. Good video tho.
Do u think you could do a video on camp chairs. More importantly the front runner chairs they look to be the best camp chair on the market with how small and simple they are.
I have the Drifta version made by Supa Peg.I'd actually prefer a lighter lesser quality type material.I find the weight inconvienent to regularly put up and put away. Not so bad if your in the one spot for a few days.
The person doing the video either needs to be further back or at least pan to the items/parts you're referring to on the video. Each time the presenter were referring to a particular feature/part on the awning, this was not captured on the video as the camera was still centred on the presenter. It would be good to see what the presenter was referring to. Either do this as a B Roll (for post video editing) or just a quick pan of the camera to the part/item would fix this. As someone like myself in the market for a new awning, It would be good to see the details, or items pointed out.
Cheers, the reason we did that was the microphone used needs to be directed at the presenter due to not having a lav microphone and the wind. There is actually b-roll used as described in this video but agree, it could be a lot better.
Man I personally trust everything you guys do!!.
Would love to do a trip a with you guys.
Appreciate it Allen, thank you.
Grab a wax stick from camp shop for those stitch wholes. Rub wax over area and problem solved 👍🏻
Awesome, thanks Matt.
SIDETRACKED.AUSTRALIA aqua proof is also another great product I’ve used for reproofing available at camping stores and bcf 👍🏻
Amazing coverage, but geez a long setup. Stick with the Alu Cab
Thats the unfortunate part, coverage and free standing don't go hand in hand.
4 minute set up on the video with him stopping for commentary. That’s not a long set up imo
Suggest you try a modern awning - Alu cab or bush master to name a few
@@Dorko85 Too Heavy - Nearly 30 kg with brackets ... and they sit way too high off the roof . Smaller foot print , less shade and overpriced
Great honest review, for me personally I think awnings this elaborate (and all those walls and tents you can attach to a Kings awning) takes away from the original idea of a quick simple set up. if you n need a big space you could set up a tent and still be able to use the car and not have it strapped down.
I'm now running 2 basic awnings on each side, one for cooking and the other side for swags.
Thats the age old issue. Hard one to solve, theres always a sacrifice.
Nice one. Nice product too 👍
Great! Don't do Insta...so could we please have more UA-cam..a!
Hi mate
Thanks for the vid.
Just wondering if you find it difficult deploying the awning at some camp sites.
Is it usable in most places?
Also how sturdy are those hinges and that backing plate?
Cheers Mick
Never had an issue setting up but tight caravan parks aren't our thing. The hinges aren't the strongest on the market but its not a self supporting awning and its designed to be the weak link rather than bending expensive arms which we have done on another awning. The backing plate is as strong as an ox.
@@SIDETRACKED thanks for that. Are you situated in Melbourne?
If so, I was wondering whether it would be possible to have a look at it?
It's a big ask, but there's no distributors here for me to go and check it out.
Cheers
Mick
Hi mate
Thanks for the vid.
Just wondering what size awning it is. 2 or 2.5m.
Cheers Mick
2.5m mate
Just wondering what mounts you used for your front runner rack and the super peg ?
Once upon a time you could get a wax to seal canvas stitching. Maybe you still can.
There're all kinds of products out there to seam seal. Not a big deal. But the manufacturer should do a better job, there.
Very exciting area of product development.
He talked about but didn't demonstrate a lower setting for the poles in worse weather. That'd be a nice feature.
I'm surprised there aren't more canopies out there that shade the entire vehicle. I've seen 'em, but they seem few and far between.
do you think it's worth the price and extra set-up time?
Yes, worth the price, quality is really the best out there. As for extra set up time, thats a bit more personal preference... If you don't use the space, it's not worth it.
Yep
Your camera man needs to show us what your doing with your hands and not your face..but good review.
Camerman thought we were more interested in your face than the awning. Often what you were describing was out of frame in favor if close ups on you.
Supa peg where very rude. Director allowed staff to be rude after owning up his webpage was not right and miss leading. Confussion. To me he offered nothing, only to cancel my order and refund. I wanted to order more. So what the supa peg. If a company treats people like this. Australian company means nothing.
what's the location? Looks spot on.
South East of South Australia (Beachport) great offload playground
LOOKS GOOD BUT 21kg HEAVY .YOU CANT HAVE IT ALL HAVE A WRANGLER SO PAYLOAD IS SHIZER .THANKS 4 REVIEW ✌
Have you found a lighter one? As good quality also? Would love an answer. Thank you.
