I loved how Jesse Armstrong brought up "Six Feet Under" and "Sopranos" as phenomenons that he truly admires and I can see how much he is influenced by them in "Succession!
So this guy was able to use a single music base then proliferate it masterfully into a multiplicitous family of chords to suit the environment, characters nature and depth, event nuances/moods in different movie scenes
This is obviously just nitpicking, but I can't understand why all these rich people haven't by now gotten a proper set-up. Why do we constantly have to watch pixels and a framerate of 3 🙃
With all due respect to Mr. Armstrong the theme is NOT in 3/4 time. While it does have a “waltzy” feel, its very clearly in 4/4 throughout (and doesn’t have the same gravity if you try to change it!)
Much as we’re thankful to Jesse Armstrong the Creator and writer of Succession since the Pandemic last year he’s had a whole year to think through new ideas even rewriting scripts for Season 3. I fear that when season 3 comes out later this year 2021 all 10 episodes are gonna be written by him and no one else involved - he’s very a talented man but I feel he should include more writers to be involved add more leverage to the show. Needs more writers who are American cause the show is more of a American drama then a British Drama from a point of view.
Which parts are you disappointed with? It's an interesting observation, but I haven't sensed a variation as yet. The father is a British immigrant so I don't see it being that incongruous.
@@kpwand Not disappointing I like the show like anybody else who’s a fan of Succession including yourself. Has the touch of Britishness well as Americanism that being said, needs writers who have experience in writing scripts for drama, comedy adds flare but not too much of it.
Not really... I think one of the things the show makes clear, and that rings true to the real world, that at a certain level of wealth and success things like nationality become irrelevant. Logan is an immigrant, his children probably have duel American and British citizenship, and the Waystar empire spans every country in the world. Sure their main offices are New York based, but their influences knows no borders. Logan talks about the US president like he's an afterthought.
Such a compelling show. But please, for the love of god, finally demand that the (culturally appropriating) composer just stop recycling the same one theme, with negligible variations, in a non-stop loop for hours and hours! It literally brings down the entire production. (The Emmy win just proved how it's a marginalized category, rewarded for brashly standing out. That's not the actual function of incidental music.)
Not sure you've listened to the soundtrack outside of watching the show. Britell completely changed the tone of the show with the new music in season 2 and variations throughout. Shiv and Roman both got their own themes in season 2 and were fleshed out more partly due to the music. Strongly disagree with your opinion.
I like the show very much but disappointed with the huge amount of gratuitous profanity. To me it's just lazy writing - English language is rich enough without resorting to obscenity.
Succession is not lazy writing. You couldn't have picked a less fitting show against which to make that accusation. You cannot transplant the truism about profanity in everyday language to the role of profanity in a supremely crafted multi-season drama like Succession.
The thing is, some people just talk like that. I do, and that’s how my family talks too. Some people are just speak more vulgar. I actually think it makes it more realistic
What's your favourite moment from Succession?
L to the OG 🙈
We're here for you!!!!!
Boar on the floor
A tough question...but probably boar on the floor...that scene was just too much hahah
Cousin Greg avoiding the senators questions

Great discussion thanks for putting together. Becky directed a great episode - hope she does some more in S3.
REALLY ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS ON... IT CAN BE SO FUNNY.... I CAN'T WAIT TILL IT COME BACK 🍾🥂
Loved this series, most sophisticated and intriguing series!
Just the sheer amount of books Jesse has in his library tells us alot about his intellect and his skill for writing.
Makes sense! Seem no actors would have that many books
So true

Love how nervous Jesse gets when Becky brings up the Tom and Greg bed scene. I’m here for Treg.
Fascinating guy.
"Brainer", pretty sure that's a reference to Peep Show ahaha

Jesse's door looks like the girl from the ring.
You won't believe as soon as I read this comment, got a low-key heart attack seeing the door. It did look like the girl.. shivers.

Prediction: Kendall commits suicide by jumping off the company skyscraper in the final season.
Except they added the extra screen already so he can't
And RJD2 - A Beautiful Mine plays
will you ever let him to talk???

Why can’t a Brit write an American based show?
