Absolutely. I am a solo operator in Tennessee and this season has about worn me out. I can't seem to find time sharpen blades, let alone put them on. Oil changes come way to fast. I think oil changes come every other week.
I would go ahead and spend the money on having a jack receiver welded to your deck and buy a jack. It makes life much easier to change blades. Also oil and oil filter are much cheaper than a new engine.
I do to I'm just so busy. Quick tip though, i always blow off the mower deck. One of my buddies was mowing and didnt blow it off and it caught fire and destroyed tho whole mower
Gotta fix it soon as it breaks. Otherwise you will feel behind. Maintenance you just have to do at the regular intervals and forget about it until next time. Edit: my neighbor hires his riding mower blades sharpened. They come right to the house and prop the mower up in their trailer and sharpen them without taking them off. I assume they use an angle grinder but don't know how they pick the mower up. Nice trailer rig.
Pro tip with impact wrenches. Try not to tighten bolts down with the trigger pulled all the way. They work best if you run it snug lightly then squeeze the trigger to get your final desired torque. I’ve seen a lot lug nuts and bolts snapped because of that.
We change the blades every two days as well. We start getting "stringers" if we don't. We definitely fall behind on maintenance though. I believe yesterday was the first time ive greased the mowers in probably two weeks. the essentials I try my hardest not to fall behind on ... clean deck, sharp blades, oil changes as close to hour interval as possible .
I sharpen all my blades on Sunday every week. It pays off until next Sunday! Also if I damage the edge of a blade it get changed out in the field on the job and then sharpened that night. Thats why its good to have at least 3 pairs of high lift blades for each piece of equipment.
I just took a look under the family lawn mower earlier today while doing some other yard maintenance and OH. MAH. GAWD. That thing is JACKED up man lol I’m gonna take the grinder to it tomorrow 🤷🏻♂️
I got the GRAVELY ZT HD 60. LOVE IT . I have had it for three seasons now not a single problem. It has 2,260 hours. I do all my oil change and servicing myself though.
We hated to spend the money on the bulldog Jack and receiver, but it's so worth it. I think our dealer charged us 87.00 for it or something. It's quick, easy, and so stable. With how dry it is a few hours north of you we are changing blades daily if not sooner with the woody like weeds.
Bro you do have an awesome lawn trailer set up! Everything convenient, organized, and in its place! Love it! Of course I am OCD and am very organized myself! 😃
Brian great job singing about weingartz everything from Lawn to snow this was the one of my favorite videos every Video that you do is my favorite on UA-cam have a great personality great future in business thank you for all that you do for us on UA-cam I really enjoy everything you do on UA-cam keep up the great work
Hp lawncare, we just changed our blades on 3 mowers . for the cutting we do we get about 9 days . mantaince wise well havent had sats free in awhile. I lost a truck motor. Made a heck of a racket , hum she must-have Ben hungry. .
Just picked up a 20V dewalt impact wrench today for blades on my standerX .... SOOOO much easier than two torque wrenches and cut about 15 mins off the task
Putting oil on the filter rubber gasket doesn't make it seal better, it makes it easier to remove the filter the next oil change. Also, when tightening, most engine manuals state to tighten the filter an extra 1/2 to 3/4 turn once the gasket makes contact with the engine. The filter will actually get tighter during use due to the gasket swelling which is why even though you hand tighten it usually takes a wrench to get it back off.
Not true... oil on the rubber gasket or o-ring is to prevent abrasion, cutting and/or pinching during torque. Agree that the filter should be tightened an additional amount (1/4-1/2 should be sufficient)
We are getting a gravely pro turn 460 this Monday with a power bagger as a demo and more then likely we are getting it because we just blew a head on our walk behind mower.
Plemons Lawn Care I don't know of anyone that straps their mowers down in my part of GA. You very rarely see lawn and landscape companies pulled over DOT here mostly goes after log trucks.
if your over 10,001 lbs and live in a state like mine in NH we border mass and maine if your traveling over state lines you will need a dot number. Also traveling over lines you will need a mcs90 endorsement and a million dollar insurance policy i had to go thru all that last year. Also if you have a container larger than 8 gallons you will need a placard thats one reason why you can usually only find 5 gallon containers but its ok to have 10 5 gallon containers lol. Also if a trooper goes in the trailer he will look for EVERYTHING to be strapped down that includes backpack blowers :) and the trailer also needs an inspection sticker. good times. As for oil I run bobcat with kawi mowers i always do the paint marker on everything i service and change my oil every 50 hours cause thats what makes the money!
I have a gravely pro turn 48, love it, I’m getting a pro turn 60 next month, I also change the oil every 25 hours, gravely isn’t a popular brand here in Australia
I bought a wright 32 dual hydro. It was a very bad choice as it broke down the first day I used it. After 3 months we finally got it to run. But by then the girls did not want to even use it fear of it breaking down on them. They kept using a very old belt drive gravely . This year they bought 4 gravely and they love them. So gravely is our number 1 choice.
I have a 2016 Super Z, didn't really like the new deck but I played with the blades and baffles a bit and it's a little better. Still doesn't beat the exmark though
Hey Brian just get ur cdls super easy I did it also I do my own maintenance so I can go a lil easy on price for costumers but they will never know how much I care for their well being
You got to love the state patrol I got pulled over for going 2 miles an hour over the speed limit and it was a young cop. And it half to have US dot numbers on my truck every thing was clear and tied down, but he wasn't supposed to pull me over for going 2 miles over the speed limit. You got to love the after run maintenance. I change my blade every day and I go and sharpen them and balance them.
so here's a thought for a new biz. what would you guys pay for someone to come around and do the maintenance on your lawn equipment? sharpen blades, oil changes, belts replaced, weed wacker maint, the usual stuff?
@@BriansLawnMaintenancet was a rhetorical question, you know how and perform such duties already. someone may need such a service, and another may see an opportunity. I have watched enough u tube videos that there are many people that need this and don't know how to approach the subject. owner operator truckers may have an individual they park the truck in their yard and get this done during the down time they are home. something similar could be done here over a weekend. Monday morning come over pick up your trailer and everything is ready to hit the grass running. just sayin'. keep the vids coming.
Brian, the Stihl deal is awesome! I live 45 minutes from the plant in Virginia Beach, Va. I've been on a tour of their plant 9 different times over the years. It's an amazing place. If you want to know what its like, go to my Instagram page and scroll down and look at the pictures of the museum they have. If you need any info to help you out while you're their contact me on Instagram. I always fall behind on maintenance. I do my best to stay on top of it, but I do the best I can. I look forward to meeting you at the You Tube Rally at the GIE!!
My father has a 36" gravely pro-walk behind with over 1500 hours . He's has it for 15 years and has had no trouble with it what she ever . That's machine is where it all started and now he has a scarf turf tiger ll 54"
This is one of the reasons you can't let customers talk you down on your service price because they don't know what it takes to bring that level of equipment to do what they want you to do
Air Compressor to blow off mower at end of day. And before working on it. Most air wrenches have 3 torque settings. Find out how much torque each setting supplies and set wrench to correspond to appropriate mfg's spec and/or bolt size. HEY . .. My mama always said to me, "Your Fussy"
OkieJake You are correct. Quick & Easy, but my thinking is, a compressor allows for air tools for maintenance .. other equipment, like cars/truck & trailer. Do both👍
I blow the entire mower clean after every job. Less debris going back in my trailer. I hate a dirty trailer as much as I hate clutter. Keep it organized, that way everyone knows where everything is when it's needed. My pet peeve is put it back where you got it from. Nice trailer Brian.
What do you think: would there be a good market for a mechanic to go to your home base/office/jard and do the maintenance on your machine while you are doing jobs?
I run a 452. TAKE THE BAFFLES OFF THE DECK. The deck cuts terribly with the baffles installed for some reason. Night and day difference in cut once baffles are removed.

That's crazy Michigan State boys got me 4 years ago for dot and said it was 10,001 it must of went up now good to no and back then they also told me the owner of a the company does not need chauffeurs or medical if you're solo and no worker is in the truck with you crazy how stuff changes over the years I guess I better look into this some more
This describes my opinion on the pro turn quite well. As a machine, the things was amazing. I liked the yamaha motor, speed was great, air ride was a nice feature but something just seem a bit off on the cut quality compared to similar level mowers.
Brian's Lawn Maintenance Ali righty... hope you find what works... I’m fixing my two acre yard and would love to get a scag... just the entry level of course... thoughts on home owners zero turns?
Chauffeur license? Never heard that before for landscaping. Why is that? Even if you had employees with you, there employees not people paying you for a ride.
Is it just me, or do you always feel like your falling behind on maintenance and repairs, lol.

I put some ramps on my truck's tail gate, it gets the mower a lot higher and I can get all 3 blades in one attempt. BR800 !! Way cool!
We change the blades every two days as well. We start getting "stringers" if we don't. We definitely fall behind on maintenance though. I believe yesterday was the first time ive greased the mowers in probably two weeks. the essentials I try my hardest not to fall behind on ... clean deck, sharp blades, oil changes as close to hour interval as possible .
i just recently got me a 34 in Gravely zero turn. Pretty stoked, its awesome.
I think the inside looks great and is very functional for your trailer ty for the ideas

Ceiling storage is a GREAT idea!
Yup. Clean and sleek. That's what it's all about!
I have a Gravely ZT-HD 52 love it. With the Kawasaki engine.
We hated to spend the money on the bulldog Jack and receiver, but it's so worth it. I think our dealer charged us 87.00 for it or something. It's quick, easy, and so stable. With how dry it is a few hours north of you we are changing blades daily if not sooner with the woody like weeds.
Cool video! Keep them coming. Liked the way you did the quick blade change. I'll pass it along to other guys.
Bro you do have an awesome lawn trailer set up! Everything convenient, organized, and in its place! Love it! Of course I am OCD and am very organized myself! 😃
Ha! Thank you!
Brian great job singing about weingartz everything from Lawn to snow this was the one of my favorite videos every Video that you do is my favorite on UA-cam have a great personality great future in business thank you for all that you do for us on UA-cam I really enjoy everything you do on UA-cam keep up the great work
You bet buddy
Those racks are great!! Very nice video Brian, important stuff to do for sure.
Hp lawncare, we just changed our blades on 3 mowers . for the cutting we do we get about 9 days . mantaince wise well havent had sats free in awhile. I lost a truck motor. Made a heck of a racket , hum she must-have Ben hungry. .
South Carolina boy representin’ Top Notch Lawn Service. Keep up the good work man! Awesome stuff!
Just picked up a 20V dewalt impact wrench today for blades on my standerX .... SOOOO much easier than two torque wrenches and cut about 15 mins off the task
I have a gravely pro turn zx 52 and I love it! Also what lights do you have installed inside your trailer for interior lighting?
How and what do you use to strap / Tie down your mowers? All the videos on UA-cam and no one shows that part.
I use Quickloader or Shockstrap
Trailer makes for a nice rain shelter / work shop!
looks sharp too!
Hey Brian, which do you prefer using on residential properties with a lot of flower beds- zero turn that mulches or one with a side discharge? Thanks!
We only side discharge here
Ok cool!
Upside down filter? Yuck!
Love love love my Gravely!!!
Put a little oil or grease on those threads to the blades.
im watching this video with my three year old nephew and he said he wants your hat and everything at Weingarts. Gotta love him
Lol love it
Putting oil on the filter rubber gasket doesn't make it seal better, it makes it easier to remove the filter the next oil change. Agree. Easy removal is simply a by-product of eliminating pinching and abrasion.
I like how you’re thinking debt free it makes a happy life and marriage. I’m not against debt but I pay off things fast as possible.
I enjoy using "good debt", but I also enjoy being debt free. Best of both worlds.
We are getting a gravely pro turn 460 this Monday with a power bagger as a demo and more then likely we are getting it because we just blew a head on our walk behind mower.
You can get the bulldog jack from tractor supply or a similar store for $50 same exact jack as the exmark dealer carries for less than half the price
Good looking out I’ll check that out
You should be using self drilling screws, no drill needed, drill bit is made on end of screw, they work great.
Good tip!
Like your sense of economy. Love It!
In GA it’s over 10k you have to have the dot number. Yes a unsecured load is a major infraction.
Plemons Lawn Care I don't know of anyone that straps their mowers down in my part of GA. You very rarely see lawn and landscape companies pulled over DOT here mostly goes after log trucks.
Yeah, in my part of Georgia we don’t strap down mowers. Never had a problem. And we work in the State safety capital of GAz
if your over 10,001 lbs and live in a state like mine in NH we border mass and maine if your traveling over state lines you will need a dot number. I typically sharpen the blades every 20 hours. Oil every 30. But then again, I only have the hrx217s and no ztrs lol
U have to do an oil change every 30 hours 😂. Most commercial mowers are 200 hours for a oil change
How often do you replace the mower tires?
I have a gravely pro turn 48, love it, I’m getting a pro turn 60 next month, I also change the oil every 25 hours, gravely isn’t a popular brand here in Australia
Get that Ferris with the oil guard. Cut down on those oil change days with the big Vanguard
Precisely
Have you ever thought about demoing a grasshopper? The rep in my area is bring me 2 of them to try out today.
Not a big brand around here
Hi Brian do you have exmark or ferrys, mower. Thank you very much 😊
Exmark
I'm thinking about starting a lawn care business\handyman I want to know where do I start what do I start with .
Watch a ton of videos and just learn! But, get a mower, and start mowing grass. That’s it, go from there. Best of luck.
Hey Brian , how is the xmarks in wet grass? Here in va this has been the wettest mowing season ever.
They clump but, it does slay down wet grass
I bought a wright 32 dual hydro. It was a very bad choice as it broke down the first day I used it. After 3 months we finally got it to run. But by then the girls did not want to even use it fear of it breaking down on them. They kept using a very old belt drive gravely . This year they bought 4 gravely and they love them. So gravely is our number 1 choice.
We have a 2016 Gravely Pro Turn 152
Every 2 days lol. That’s insane.
I use a gravely 52 hd zero turn and I love the thing awesome ride, cuts nice, pretty quite I wouldn’t leave one bad review about a gravely.
Awesome brother keep up the awesome work getting pulled over sucks
I didn't see any hustler super z hyperdrive Try one of them out if u want a better cut and ride and it's a straight up rocket to mow with
I have a 2016 Super Z, didn't really like the new deck but I played with the blades and baffles a bit and it's a little better. Still doesn't beat the exmark though
Might be a stupid question, but do you try to align the blades in any way when you change them?
They only go on one way. No aligning takes place, but good question.
Truck and trailer look 👍
What do you think of the john deere stand up mowers ?
They're basically an old-gen of the Wright stander.
Hey Brian just get ur cdls super easy I did it also I do my own maintenance so I can go a lil easy on price for costumers but they will never know how much I care for their well being

Just doing their jobs (:
so here's a thought for a new biz. what would you guys pay for someone to come around and do the maintenance on your lawn equipment? sharpen blades, oil changes, belts replaced, weed wacker maint, the usual stuff?
I wouldn’t just because I do my own maintenance

Mass dot we are required to have DOT numbers on any truck over 10,000 pounds gvw or a combined weight (truck and trailer) over 10,000 pounds
That light show when you 1st pull in though!
Lol

You too pal!
Wow that is a beautiful trailer inside, more like a mobile garage! What type is it? Did it come with the workbench and cabinets?
It did yep, and thank you
Brian's Lawn Maintenance ah I found your vids on this subject... of course you have content on that. Thanks!
Watch you videos all the time great job!
Ty!
We use those hooks to hold our kombi attachments up against the wall.
Nice!
Brian do you ever have any problems with the blades spinning when taking them on or off?
Nope
Thanks

You should check out the pro locker its a wheel lock for your mowers
Will do ty
As a weekend warrior, I do maintenance about 3-4 times a tear
Air Compressor to blow off mower at end of day.
And before working on it.
Most air wrenches have 3 torque settings. Find out how much torque each setting supplies and set wrench to correspond to appropriate mfg's spec and/or bolt size.
HEY . ..
My mama always said to me,
"Your Fussy"
Lol
Eric Stewart why not use one of the many backpack blowers he has instead of farting with a air compressor. What I do.
Nice trailer Brian.
i have the bulldog on my Lazer E, i like it but it is really tight around your foot pedal for the mower deck. Watch your knuckles!
Good stuff ty
How are you liking the Kujos? Comfortable? Thinking about getting a pair.
I like them, all I’ve worn for 6 weeks. Still running good
Want to see you get a couple coats of paint on the deck etc!
That’s my dealer weingarts Farmington hills
Sweet mine too!
Great video! Great info!
Hey Brian, which Milwaukee impact is that, the mid torque or the high torque?
Mid. It’s more than enough power
How often do you worry about balancing your blades?
We try to balance them every time we do
i learned the hard way that way bends the frame
I’m super crazy about my maintaince but I do run walk behinds
How many hours on your Lazer? How long do you plan to keep it?
1100 and not sure
How many hours till you change oil on zero turn?
50-100 I do every 100
What do you think: would there be a good market for a mechanic to go to your home base/office/jard and do the maintenance on your machine while you are doing jobs?
You will be in my 'neck of the woods' via VA Beach. (Newport News, VA here)
Sweet!
I run a 452. TAKE THE BAFFLES OFF THE DECK. The deck cuts terribly with the baffles installed for some reason. Night and day difference in cut once baffles are removed.
Good to know! Thanks pal
Curious to know, the little walls/sections under the deck?? Please elaborate on these baffles...
Dude, it’s like a grown man’s toy store! I would go broke. Good video Brian, my site is still new but getting better! Lookin forward to your next vid!
Love the channel, you could have probably saved yourself some room for future tools and put the rakes and shovels parallel with the trailer rather than horizontal like you have them.
Couldn’t with how the clips mount.
If you like Mexican food, when you’re in Virginia Beach check out Jessie’s Taqueria. It’s in Norfolk and seriously the best Mexican restaurants in this area. Also check out some Hustler mowers at Land and Coates.
Lol ty
Brian's Lawn Maintenance you’re welcome
Brian, can you give me a link on your Milwaukee impact please? Thanks buddy!
SuperDave21 No Milwaukee codes or discounts :( and they don’t sell on Amazon yet. Dang! Just THD or Acme
I was asking for the part number of your battery powered impact gun... I need one like that! What model is it?
That's crazy Michigan State boys got me 4 years ago for dot and said it was 10,001 it must of went up now good to no and back then they also told me the owner of a the company does not need chauffeurs or medical if you're solo and no worker is in the truck with you crazy how stuff changes over the years I guess I better look into this some more
$$ cash grab :)
It is 10,001 in MS
I loved my gravely. It was a tank but I couldn't get the cut quality exactly how I wanted so sold it. Besides lacking in cut quality it was nice.
Excited to check it out!
This describes my opinion on the pro turn quite well. As a machine, the things was amazing. I liked the yamaha motor, speed was great, air ride was a nice feature but something just seem a bit off on the cut quality compared to similar level mowers.
Best mower ever man I'm sorry but the Lazer Z and the E series just love exmark
Love the Gravely Pro-Stance and 460. I think you will like it. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd love to help. Keep up the great content!
Definitely pal!
Man DOT inspections are the worst, there’s always a commercial vehicle cop sitting outside the dump
Did you ever review that toro?
I did. Not for me
Brian's Lawn Maintenance Ali righty... hope you find what works... I’m fixing my two acre yard and would love to get a scag... just the entry level of course... thoughts on home owners zero turns?
Do a John deer demo
I thought I saw you on Gravely's FB page..have you switched to Gravely?
Nah it’s just a demo unit
Good stuff.
Measure twice drill once Brian
Tim Eckels I did, that’s the funny part
Brian's Lawn Maintenance
Yup . .. it happens
So, I measure 3 times
It's called, Check & Balance
It made for a good video edit at least 😂
13:51.....is your right front wheel bearing worn out? Maybe it’s the angle?
Nope that wheel is toast. I’m trying to see how long she’ll go before falling off
Stihl facilities are awesome . Virginia Beach great town. Excellent seafood. Brace for the humidity though! Lol
I love humidity. It weeds out the weak ones. Ok just having fun
Dude! You need an E Z shoot for your zturn!
Our exmark OCD works great 🤷♂️
VA Beach is only 4 hours from me
Hey, Dude are you liking that Milwaukee drill? I need a new one!
Rufus LC love it!
Thanks!
Like, no. Love Milwaukee tools! If it's yellow and black, Put it Back lol
Love ur videos 👍
Thank you!
Chauffeur license? Never heard that before for landscaping. Why is that? Even if you had employees with you, there employees not people paying you for a ride.
Meadow View Lawn Care LLC it is also generally called a class E license.
I don’t make the rules / name the license category. Just what ya need here ha
If your trailer is over 10,000 you need a CDL. A truck over 26,001 requires a class B
