Yul Brynners Portrayal of the king of Siam was wonderful to watch, I’ve seen him in other roles but “The King & I” is my favourite!
He might had been short in statue
but his voice speaks
loudly amongst men truly a brilliant actor that will never see the likes of again RIP
Yul Brynner the best
that ever did it ❤❤
I’ve always loved him and found him handsome.
He was a great actor, loved him in west world and as the king ❤️
I like his as Ramses in "The Ten Commandments"
Men with minds such as he had, his overwhelming capacity to absorb all languages, books of which not many are ready to sit and challenge themselves with, living with a father who deserted him and his mother with all the different moves from one place to another - all grew into a form of narcissism - because who isn't insecure in some form or manner? Instead of learning to accept his height and work with others his ego became a stronghold of which caused him more harm than good. He was brought down by a disease which he could have avoided. He supposedly smoked one after the other so we can imagine the tension and nerves so raw without the cigarette also caused his anguish which turned his ego into what it was - for many children who don't have control in any situation become perfectionists.. Steve McQueen didn't help at all - he too had a enormous ego so both men were at odds instead of seeing that if they worked off of each other, the movie would have turned out differently and could have become friends. Such is life in Hollywood. I'll never forget his message to us. I used to smoke back then but I did end up not smoking - not right away as the addiction was too strong. 10 yrs later I did forever remembering the look in his eyes, the tone of his voice and the eerie after death potency of his message and, he will always remain a man who stood tall and his performances were raw and unforgettable. Thanks.
Your critic on his character is spot on. I very rarely see such a rounded opinion about him in the internet.
Glad you gave up smoking.
The Ten Commandments and the king and I are films I never get tied of watching great actor
If he is Russian, he is probably part Mongolian too, like the most Slavic ancestry (Kozak, Avars, Huns, Tatars)
I totally agree.
Он швейцарец по линии деда.
Дед работал в Японии. Хозяин после смерти завещал ему имущество. Юл родом с Владивостока, там была диаспора японцев.
I've always felt Yul Brynner looked like he has some East Asian in him, not fully European for sure. But Vladivostok is also very near China/Mongolia, who knows. If he were still alive and did a DNA test, I suspect it might show some percentage of that.
His father was part Buryati, so, yes, east Asian. Buryatis are considered ethnically close to Mongols but are taller, darker, and have pointier facial features. Yul's mother may have had Tatar (a Turkic people who originated in eastern Asia) ancestry considering how she looked and the facts that many noble and intellectual Russian families are of Tatar descent and the Tatar originated close to where Yul was born.
He will always be the king but....He was a super good bad guy with a super wicked sense of humor in Westworld. He was a man without any comparison to anyone. When they talk about. greatness he is the first person I think of and I smile and hope he is the king wherever he is. He was a man who will never be replaced and I admit a man I loved since I saw him on the screen so many years ago. He will always be my king.
I was his personal driver and valet while we toured the country with the King and I from 1982-1985, the last years of his life. He was gracious, generous and genuine. He is sorely missed.
An almost no body of Asian appearance climbing to the top of the Hollywood circles is legendary.
Never again shall we see another Yul Brynner. Casting of his roles is legendary.
He was an amazing performer. I was fortunate to see him in the King and I which has remained with me .
Me, too, in Dallas in 1957. Then I took my son to the last tour. Front row seats. He went around for weeks, going “ETCETERA, ETCETERA, ETCETERA.”
I have to say, I remember him best in The King and I, he was incarnated for that part. Thank you for sharing.
MR. YUL BRYNER was a hunk loved him in THE 10 COMMANDENTS . REST IN HEAVENLY PARADISE MR. BRYNNER .
Yul embellished his background like most entertainers of the 20th century, but his real background seems just as fascinating. I saw an old film of Yul's where he was playing a gambler/gangster with his full head of jet black slicked back hair. He looked VERY central Asian.
'Port of New York'
Despite all his theatrical work, the thing he did that I remember the most was his anti-smoking PSA. It was far more moving than anything else I'd ever seen.
Yul Brynner was the ultimate King Mongkut in the King and I. He will always be synonymous with that King, both on stage and on the “silver screen”; film! Yul was multi-talented, but tended to be type cast. He was great with kids. Yes, he could be difficult on certain sets with certain entertainers and crews, but not all shows, film sets or tv programs. He was protecting his insecurities, for sure. It is true he was irritated with Steve McQueen upstaging him with his little gestures, like fiddling with his hat, or belt, or whatever ploy Steve used. This was McQueen’s breakout role with some already, somewhat known stage, film and small screen actors like, Eli Wallach, Yul Brynner, James Coburn, Horst Bucholtz, Robert Vaughn …. so I can imagine why Yul didn’t trust Steve’s indifference towards him.
All these lead actors, “Star” rose bc of this film. In any case, Yul Brynner deserved recognition, respect, and appreciation for his contributions to “Show Biz”!! ❤️❤️
The 1959 movie, 'The Sound and the Fury," based on the William Faulkner novel, which Yul Brynner had the starring role, with a full head of his own hair, was really awesome!
I believe it was a wig or toupee, he started to lose his hair as a young man.
Yul Brynner was a great actor, especially in the King and I. I had the pleasure of working with him and Virginia Mckenna at the London palladium in 1979 when I was 7yrs old
Comfortable in his own skin and with his sexuality. That's powerful .
The king and I was one of the best movie ever.❤
Who cares about an actor’s sexuality? I don’t. Too bad they didn’t show that ad. I remember it. Whatever he was offscreen doesn’t matter to me but it’s what he gave onscreen that counts. We shall not see his like again.
Exactly. The no smoking 🚭 announcement would've been more appropriate.
Most Hollywood actors are.
It is backwards US which are so titillated and judgemental of the private lives of others
Great actor beautiful man ❤
Great, insightful tribute to this talented man. Forever learning, honing his craft. Loved his voice , even posthumously warning against smoking.
Mr Yul Brynner was a great actor I got to know of him in the Western World movies when he played as a Robot and I love it He was in character in every role he played He master the role I thought When you’re great that’s your trade mark A gift from GOD I enjoyed his every movie I saw him in 👍🏽 ❤👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😊
Beautiful man! I just thonk he resoected himself and made that clear to the studios..... In such an industry he made them to respect him
Thank You...He was his own Man.
From the outside, Yul Brynner may have appeared temperamental... Watching this video through the lens as a former working SAG/AFTRA actor/commercial print model and newly retired special ed. teacher, it appears that Mr. Brynner was highly protective of his image - deservedly so. IMHO - his demands weren't MERCURIAL! An actor's most crucial needs when working are COMFORT & SAFETY. (I learned the hard way while filming in Korea... SAG/AFTRA has no jurisdiction over international productions).
I fail to see how a specific brand of mineral water, certain types of furniture, mirrors, and air conditioners are described as INDULGENT PREREQUISITES for his dressing room. When I traveled with my dad to Peoples Republic of China in 1982, we could drink tea, alcohol or other bottled drinks. In one province, they used chlorine to purify water. You could smell and taste the chlorine in their bottled drinking water and beer.
Mr. Brynner's needs were most likely stipulated his contract. If the companies didn't grant his needs, and didn't have the courtesy of informing him in advance, he had every right to complain.
Re: filming at sea & private helicopter landing pad - Mr. Brynner might have experienced sea sickness and/or lost precious hours between when the day's shooting wrapped and the turnaround time for the next day's shooting. It's a shame that the production wasn't able to extend such courtesies to the rest of the cast and crew. Maybe they didn't have the funds or chose to cut corners.
Why are there no pictures with hair from his beginnings in film business? Why no information about the "Karamasow brothers"? He was so much more than the "King and I"
What an actor.
What a handsome man!
He was very handsome. I remember having a huge crush on him as a young girl as did my Mother.
Thank you Mr. Brynner!!
Oh the King & I & all his movies he was in he was really Great !!!
He was Farro ! When he did 10 commandments that did it for me ! I was only a child but I fell in love with him instantly!!! Still do .❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
pharaoh
@@JanicePeterson-hv4us right thank you Janice
Pharaoh as Janice spelled correctly.
I’m sure Victoria would be shocked at such a poor representation of her father’s life. You obviously didn’t consult her, just used her photo!
What was poor about it, seemed like a real human being with experiences throughout his life that affected him one way or another, and by the way Yul didn't even acknowledge his daughter until she was 17, so I'd say he has a few flaws just like the rest of us.
@@bkm2797 You’ve just demonstrated how ill-informed you are. For almost two years I took care of Victoria as a child in Switzerland and met her father.
Another UA-cam channel did a horrible job same thumbnail about his daughter confirming whatever and the computer voice couldn’t pronounce his way out of a wet paper bag ‼️👎🏻
This was an excellent presentation of Yul Brynners life. He was shown as a human being, warts and all. He was charismatic, sexy, beautiful, difficult, demanding, arrogant, creative, extremely intelligent, well read, and just bigger than life. Yes, he had his faults, but all actors do. He could have succeeded at anything he chose to do in life. He was also a very good father. I think all his children must be very proud of him.
I despise all these after death posts and videos here and on FB appear with people defaming people who have passed on.
Never knew he was bi
He was the first bald man I ever had a crush on, along with Telly Savalas.
Mr Clean was one of my first crushes .
Not kidding
@@jackieann5494 now that you mention it I can see him too!
My children are german first generation. They have Mongolian blood .
Brilliant actor.
He has always presented himself to me as stuck on himself
Loved him in the king and I. ❤ Amazing actor.2024.
I meet him when he had his first time back as the king with Contestants Towers she was lovely and he scared me to death. He came in as the King yet never stopped . Now I am not saying he was mean to me but he had an enormous presence
The most detailed bio I've seen so far.
I became a huge fan while watching The King and I....When I saw him in The Ten Commandments....i was thrilled...West World was ok...I love watching him in anything..❤
Wonderful man and actor.
Fascinating man, terribly flawed but magnificent nonetheless .
What a beautiful man,such a great ac
Amazing and unforgettable actor ❤
His authentic life story is pretty amazing to me 🤷🏽♀️
He was beautiful.
Watch him running around chiseled and half naked in "Kings of the Sun" and you'll quickly learn its impossible not to feel a quiver or dampness in your loins!
Excellent commentary! 👌
Our favorite his role as Ramsey in the Ten Commandments second to that the role of the robot . I don't believe he spoke any in that role. Best I can remember.
Pharaoh Ramses II
as it is written. so let it be done.
Ramses
magnificent seven, think character name is Chris
The role of King Mongkut became identified with him just like Johnny Weissmuller with Tarzan. Brynner continued to join world tours of the 'King & l' until his cancer made him too I'll to do so shortly before his death.
Taras Bulba and Anastasia
His most powerful and frightening role was in Westworld. Yul Brynner could play any role, he was hollywood's best actor.
My Favorite Yul movie was, Jules Verne's "Light At The Edge Of The World."
Yul Brynner made my adolescent self swoon back in the day. 😊
HOW DARE ANYBODY TALK ANY SHIT ABOUT THIS GUY. HE WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST EVER!! WHO FUCKEN CARES ABOUT WHAT HE DID ON HIS OWN FUCKEN TIME. HIS OWN TIME AS AN AMERICAN ACTOR AT THE TOP OF HIS CRAFT!! FUCKEN HATERS YOU OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. JEEZ....
Wow. You seem really passionate about what people you don’t know do and watch on their own time. Hope you are having a calmer day today🌸
He was amazing actor and gorgeous
His family is exotic enough!! What a handsome talented interesting man .
He is good actor
He has hang ups but I liked all his performances thought he was cool in Magnificent Seven,
Yes me too…. I always liked Yul Brynner…. I loved his deep smokey voice although I’m sad at that because it was smoking that killed him in the end………he was quite simply amazing ❤❤
I liked him whatever his background
The King And I " .
J'adore cette homme ❤grand acteur dans le film le sept mercenaires super ❤
I really doubt the professional approach of this "site" and people. The other stories about Kim Bassinger for example are cheap and disgusting.
Sound he had the napoleon insecurities 5. 7 is short for a male. And he's behavior was of an insecure person uncomfortable with his persona
Napoleon was actually tall for the period he was born.
A lot of the doors to old properties and drinking places in France are about 5'7"😊
He clearly has East Asian or Mongolian DNA look at his face ?
Right. It isn't uncommon for most of the Russian population to have Mongolian or other Asian lineage.
Everyone needs to see him in the magic Christian, hysterical!
The King and I was the best hands down
I have to wonder if it is the smoking of tobacco or the pesticides they spray on them or other ingredients added. I know It does no good to ask these questions as certain toxic companies seem to continuously get a pass.
CLICK BAIT MISINFORMATION!!!
Fantastic actor. His private life is no one's business.
An extordinary life story, an extordinary actor.
💚😘🌻✌️🇪🇸 KISSES
Information seems questionable, especially as the photo of his daughter is not the daughter referred to in piece.
Brilliant acter yul Brynner, very good looking man,one of he's best films was magnificent seven ❤
It's incredible men Yul Brunner.Love his great personality in movies and in life.He reminds me ballerun Nureeve who die from aids.
I agree. Their looks were similar, commanding!
Does anyone know if this script was AI generated?
Sounds so !
Yes, it's AI.
Was the video created by AI? An image of Mecca when the narrator taljs about 'the arts mecca' 😂
My mom took me to the late 70s revival of king and I. Magic.
And the cover photo is a scam!!
Farsa sim.
The Ten Commandments and The Magnificent seven
farewell, my one time brother...💜
The King & I was great because of Yul
I like the role of Pharaoh when he played that character on the Ten Commandments
He was a talented gorgeous man.
Bizarrely negative tabloid rewriting of Yul Brynner's contribution to the theatrical arts.
Era um otimo e lindo ator❤
Who's the couple in the lead photo supposed to be ???
Tarasbulba.
He offered marriage to my best friends mother many moons ago there are some beautiful photos of them together
He played pharaoh did a awesome job and also magnificent seven
Your misuse of the word CONTENT at the end is killing me 🤦🏻♀️
That is not Yul in the pin
10 commandments what a movie he played ramssese well
