R/C Plane Crashes into the Sea. Underwater Scenes.

- A sunny afternoon flying my electric powered plane ends in disaster when I become disorientated from the glare from the sun.
All ends well after the plane is recovered with my GoPro 3+ Black Edition. Location is The Cape Range National Park, Exmouth Western Australia. Aircraft, Nine Eagles Sky Climber.
I'm just amazed at how much life is down there. Just random pop into the ocean and bam... life everywhere! That is awesome.

Hi Paul & Thomas, yes I guess there are never really good crashes since it usually involves time and money for repairs, but as crashes go this was a bit different.
Had I not I would never have gotten the footage. Glad you enjoyed it.

Sorry for the loss of your plane, but that is probably the best R/C footage I've ever seen. As an R/C pilot, and a diver, I really appreciated both perspectives.

Sad about the crash. Beautiful footage though. I would have been like. Yep its gone. Can't walk out there on the coral and not with all the sharks. That is some luck finding it.

Guss De Blöd The video would be rubbish : the RC boat is small, with the wind, waves, etc, I think that even with video modifications it wouldn't be that great. Even on cars, bikes, skis, videos are not always awesome because of vibrations, noise.

Hi there Jerome. Cape Range National Park is a world heritage protected area where turtles come to breed and lay their eggs in the sand dunes. There are many opportunities to see them.

Glad your recovered the GoPro .... the planes electronics aren't a big deal to be replaced plus the damaged glider.
This is an amazing video. The fish life there is absolutely breathtaking! too bad not many reefs in this hemisphere look like that anymore. So you basically flew line of sight into the sun is what it seems like. I bet that's a lesson learned!

Im trying to understand .... but i cant.. if you lost orientation for the sun glare you only needed to turn arround and fly back towards earth.. or sideways.... you kept flying in circles while spiraling down... its like making the same mistake 10 times in a row again and again

Thats impressive alitude for LOS... the farthest i went without FPV was 500m
And yes... sun will absolutelly blind you ... allways avoid flying into the sun.. even if its going to be from side to side for a second is unbealiable how much you can lose in a couple seconds

This is a normal radio controlled aircraft without gyro or anything else to stabilize it during flight, If the pilot can't see what it is doing it will eventually crash.
I fly RC planes myself. Many are build in a way that if you keep the sticks center the plane will fly straight. And this one does look stable. But we are just giessing. Still outstanding underwater photage! ;)

Hey Guys. Anonymous Redditor popping in! This video reminds me of my own plane crash experience. I was flying to Portland with my younger sister and brother and our plane crashed into the ocean. I had the chance to save one of them and I followed my motto "gentlesirs before m'ladies", so I saved my brother and let my sister die. It was very painful for me. My poor sister could become some gentlesir's m'lady someday. Part of m'e died that day.

You got some great, though unintentional underwater footage there. The shark and the turtle were a definite bonus, and possibly more interesting than the aerial footage.
