Remember, there are so many differences I failed to mention in this video, I simply didn't have the time. Things like women being paid less for the same work, the difference in going to the doctor as a woman (doctors don't listen to me as much) etc, etc.
I don't know why the video ended up being lower quality than usual. I'll have it fixed until next time.

I’ve been living as a woman for over two years now and I can relate to what you are saying. Personally I think that as a man other men at least to some extent subconsciously treat you as a potential competitor and a possible threat and women subconsciously treat you as a possible threat. As such it affects how they approach you and open up to you, especially if they’re strangers or don’t know you really that well. As a woman it’s far easier to both get help and connect with other people. One of the downsides is indeed that our security situation is far worse.

So much to unpack here. I’ve always been a crier. Too many of my childhood memories involve me crying. Not sure what that says about me, but… Anyway, I can’t help but wonder if part of the reason some men don’t compliment women on what they’re wearing, etc. is because they worry it may be construed as hitting on them? I don’t know. If I compliment a woman, it’s almost always someone I know. Or it could be shyness. I fall into both categories. Anyway, thanks for a thought provoking video. You always get me thinking.

I'm gonna be honest, speaking from my own personal experience, it seems pretty terrible to be a guy in modern society. Practically NO ONE has any empathy for guys, not even other guys.
10:32 This is very accurate. I talk to my gay best friend about my personal stuff, and he's a good sounding board. As a guy, I'm fortunate to have ONE person to talk to. Most guys have no one.
For a little while, I went to a men's group which was basically 2 hours worth of men talking about their shit every 1 - 2 weeks. Seems like a nice concept, but something about it seemed... shallow, performative, and disconnected. Maybe I suck at making friends, but there seemed to be virtually no connection outside the group meetings and telegram chat. I saw many people come and go and never be heard from again. I have no idea if any of those guys un-alived themselves or simply stopped showing up. I eventually just stopped going, and not a single person ever reached out to me even though many had my contact info.
In other cultures in other times, there are plenty of stories of men having passionate platonic friendships with one another. When I look around the United States, nearly all the men seem to be hollow shells incapable of connecting with anyone.
There's something very wrong about this, and I have empathy for FTM trans men who are in for a rough time.

Personally, before transitioning, i was living in a sort of toxic masculinity because i was afraid of being feminine (and that I'd like it, which i did lol).
Even with that tho, i was never able to be super masculine or anything, but was really careful not to appear feminine in any way.
Anyway, now that I've started transitioning, all if that has gine away, I'm waayy more free and don't ever think about how masculine or feminine i look (gesture wise; dysphoria is a bitch).

I'm very much the same. I'm to old to transition now but I also grew up suppressing all my emotions because that's what boys were supposed to do. A lot of things I struggled with such as bullying, insecurities, injuries etc I never told anyone about (not even my parents) because men were supposed to be strong and just take it. It's so deeply engraved in me that I still do that :/

Okay, what I am going to say is out of respect. I do not think that this is a fair video. Maybe life a cute or attractive Caucasian Girl verses being a Boy. We should not judge how much each of us passes or not passes, and how some of us are very petite and some of us are plus size or if we are a person from a minority race. When you spoke of how helpful people are to you now that you are a girl, is a extremely loaded statement. I am happy that you brought this "halo" effect up towards the ending of your video, at the same time there were possibly many may have that turned or skipped away from your video, not waiting until the very end. Also, you did not cover race. I know folks are always throwing it in, at the same time I belonged to a Women of Color group that covered mostly Hispanic and African Americans, and this topic was brought up a few times. My main group is mixed, but like others we would listen to stories of how great some girls who not minorities were, and it came to be painful, because as soon as we were clocked, all of the racial fears would come running back to us. I feel that this might be difficult for you to grasp. If you are "clocked" ... I feel folks would just consider you as an effeminate Caucasian male, where as for us it is different because we instantly are considered lecherous or flat out criminal male standing in front of them.
So, I ask that if you ever consider doing a follow up for this video, to consider ones that do not look like you. Consider that some plus sized young Transgender girl is following everything you said, and believes that unless she looks like you then she will never be treated as a Girl. I still love your videos, and because of that again with respect, I felt I needed to say something.

Hey! You brought up a lot of important points and issues. I’m aware of the privileges I hold and I’ve discussed this in previous videos as well as on my instagram and I’m glad you brought it up.
However this video was about gender and the patriarchal structures. If I would discuss all of my privileges, being white, able bodied, conventionally attractive, having funds etc etc. the video would have ended up being too long.
The issues you brought up however are incredibly important and I will be sure to shine more light on my privileges in future videos. I try my best everyday to be educated and share light on injustices. I’m not perfect however, and I’m just a person.
I have different highlights on my instagram with trans issues, feminism and BLM, If you have any pointers please feel free to message me on Instagram @mathildahogbergs and I could share it on my stories. ❤️❤️❤️

i have to point out, that, if you NEVER put on make-up, you wont hear the comment „you look tired“, because you always look that way 😜
make-up is SUPPOSED to make you look „better“ 🤷🏻

    • @DarkFoxV
      @DarkFoxV Рік тому

      Very true.
Make-up makes you look much more youthful, flush, etc.
If you always wear it, and suddenly take it away, you likely are going to appear less "bouncy" and by extension what one would reasonably assume as tired. And sometimes, it's not simply comparative, there's makeup to hide under eye shadows, etc. Make up literally hides tiredness.
Wearing lots of or feeling compelled to wear make-up is also a much more consumerist, consumptionist, hollywood, big city thing. I've noticed that the gender roles in big cities are far greater than where I'm from. Smaller areas, can go either way I suppose. In my experience, it's much more egalitarian, but I've also heard of extremely religious small areas where gender roles were probably worse than many big cities.
Conversely, most guys look kind of well, dingy, all the time. I wouldn't call it a "good look", and some guys are definitely obviously more tired out than others. Guys definitely also get told they look tired when they have some change in how they look especially. But also just strangers, and a lot of guys do very physical jobs or long hoursz and there's kind of this expectation, that men shiuld be working physically labourious jobs and being tired is just a byproduct of that and they shouldksuck it up. There's a lot of social pressure on guys to work while also neglecting their health. And bringing up concerns about health for guys, is often something society isn't respectful towards, hence many, many men die from avoiding bringing up concerns.
It's important to remember, it's not an offensive remark to be told one is tired, it's just another person showing empathy and concern towards you. It's OKAY to be tired, and it's okay to not wear make-up. We're all just human, and we need to look out for each other.

I think it's very interesting that you saw such a difference in your emotional range and you were able to open up about non-trivial issues in a meaningful way. As a man, I think this is something we as men should actively and deliberately develop within ourselves and grow into, even before transitioning. I think I'd very interesting in watching a video about why you feel that this is the case, surely it can't be completely about hormones right?

Women are more likely to be sexually assaulted, but crimes in general are more likely to happen to men.

Woman are susceptible to such attacks because they are smaller, lighter, and weaker than males. You don’t have that issue because you’re a biological male.

Can you explain to me what it means to live “as” a woman. That’s the part I don’t get. I know how to “be” a woman . I just get up in the morning and I am. No makeup needed. I can add that if I choose, but I never spend one minute of the day living “as” a woman. Never think about it. I’m sure you are a lovely person, I just don’t get it.

    1. if nobody is telling you to get all girlied up then why would you feel the need to do it, just because you see other women doing it? 2. You say women are nicer but have you ever approached a guy the same way and been as open?

    •  Рік тому +2

Did you watch the video? Women get consequences for not having makeup. Small comments and gestures to try to conform you to wear makeup. According to statistics, women who wear makeup are treated better in society, have a higher succes rate in getting a job, and is more likely to find a partner. There are several studies made on this. It's because in our society it's a norm for women to wear makeup and women who step away from this norm get consequences.
Also during my years as a man, I never recieved a single compliment from another man.

    • @mprice6683
      @mprice6683 Рік тому

@ You just proved that you are experiencing female privilege and don't even know it. Those consequences are from other women. Women are torturing each other and blaming men for it. If every woman refused to where make-up, men would be upset for about a week, then we wouldn't care. It is women competing with each other and bringing each other down that is the problem.

@ Hmm... it's hard for me to envision it but I'll take you're word for it. I honestly cannot remember if I've ever given a guy a compliment. As a matter of conversation I've mentioned a guy is handsome or looks good in a suit, but I don't think I've even told a guy directly.

  • @tdogreed476

I think a lot of trans cases are feminine men and masculine women. And they think oh, I souks be the opposite gender because my gender doesn't match my temperament, doesn't match my personality or my preferences. If gender shouldn't matter, why are we so stuck on gender affirmation? People say if you have a penis it doesn't mean you're a man, so why are we so persistent on gender reassignment? You can have a vagina and act like a man and that's perfectly fine! And vice versa. We shouldn't reaffirm gender stereotypes by having your genitals cut open. If you're a man and feel like you can't be emotional or soft or feminine, that's a you problem. Just be who you want to be.
The gender dysphoria is a different story, and I'm not telling you not to have the surgery. I have seen trans people be pressured by others in the community into thinking they need the surgery because they don't feel like the correct gender or what society has told you how your gender should act. And those are the majority of the cases that detransition.
That's why I appreciate your channel, you're honest and tell people it's okay to not have the surgery, as long as you're happy in the body you're in. That's all that matters. More people need to watch your channel.
