The story behind Leigh Griffiths scoring today was quite nice actually. The man took a massive break from football last year for no specific reason, but it’s been widely reported he was suffering from depression. While on the break a lot of fans in Scotland were taking the piss about him with rangers fans signing “fuck Leigh Griffiths, he won’t be playing football anymore.” He came back at the start of this season and I think he’ll be celebrating every goal like he did today.
Scottish football is not great. But the fans are certainly passionate. Never forget my first game at Park Head, as a kid from Canada. It’s mind blowing how loud that place gets.

Good to see a couple of English lads being genuinely excited / respectful about our game up here. Well in lads. I'm a Celtic man myself but you should attend a lower key game sometime too. Say an Aberdeen vs Hearts game or something. Our lower key games are often overlooked for the likes of us and Rangers - a lot of the excitement of Scottish football happens in the smaller teams' games as Celtic / Rangers games is often spent with 1 team packing the box and the other trying to break it down.

The passion is second to none? Maybe thats the case for the top 8 or 9 clubs up there but not for the rest. There are teams in the Scottish Championship who pull in less than fifteen hundred. There's many stadiums less than a third full. Look at Kilmarnock. Finished third last season and need to give Celtic and Rangers three of the stands at Rugby Park each season. The lowest attendance in the SPL last season was 1,022. You're telling me there's passion in all of that? How many times do Rangers and Celtic outnumber home fans each season? And not just in cup competitions but against the likes of Livingston, Kilmarnock and Hamilton each season in the premier league.
@@christophersmith3272 Scottish football is the highest supported in Europe per capita (percentage of population that go to games) what a lot of people forget down south is Scotland only has a population of around 5 million, compare that to Englands 70 million (i think) and thats where the difference comes in, alot of these towns in Scotland that have teams are small, theo only ones that are a real let down are probably St Johnstone, Hamilton and Livingston, but again they are relatively small places
