This video was originally taken down for age restriction reasons so please support the re upload would mean a lot.
Up. The. AwayDays.
Np
Why was it taken down
I’ll just watch it again then 😂
🙄
@@bradyXRdid you not red what he said
“This isn’t pyros, this is just people’s vapes” 😂😂😂
Glad the original was edited, the amount of blood on Ellis’ and Ed’s hands were insane, thanks for editing it out 👍🏻
Hahahaha, AGREED
how do i see the adult version?
Hey Ellis, great video. We have a local game in Orkney called the Ba. In it's present form it dates back to the 1850s. The Ba is played every Christmas Day and New Years Day (unless it falls on a Sunday, then it is played on the Monday). There's a boys Ba and a mens Ba. The boys Ba starts at 10:00am and the men's Ba starts at 1:00pm, the Ba is thrown up at the Cathedral. Theres 2 sides called the 'Uppies' and the 'Doonies'. The Uppies have to get the ball to the gable end of a house where a castle used to be and the Doonies have to get the Ba to the harbour. The game ends once the ba either reaches the wall or the harbour and a winner is decided by spectators and players shouting out names, the winner gets to keep the Ba. The boy's Ba is for boy's aged 17 and younger. Local businesses and houses have to put up barriers to prevent damage as the game can get very rough because there's no rules. It's a great tradition and I would love it if you'd like to come and watch it
The greatest horror was calling those prepackaged abominations pancakes.
fr i didnt even know it could get so sad. I'm sure even prisoners get aunt jemima if they get pancakes
I went to Atherstone for the ball game in 2018. It was absolutely insane. Before the start a local told me if the ball comes near me, do not catch it. I soon saw why.
The way you ate the pancake is unforgivable. Criminal.
I worked in Atherstone for a couple of decades, at one point my office was opposite the window where the ball was thrown from. Never took part in the game.
Leeds would have taken more
Yo mama
What pancakes
FFS sure 😂
They don't sponsor championship teams
@@avfc6917 what pancakes
Definitely need to look into 'Uppies and Downies' played in Workington, Cumbria. It's like this but there are goals you have to get to at each end and played in two teams
There are a supple of variations one played in
Florence Italy & one played in rural villages of
Gorgia ( County not American state ).
I don't think your'e allowed to call them downies anymore mate
Good game play it every year
There are probably quite a few locals who are absolutely livid you got to touch the ball before the game haha
Out of context...
The first video wasn’t even bad 😭😭
He’s a fanny
@@benooo3863 lmao, it's not Ellis. It's UA-cam. It got age restricted meaning a lot less views because it wouldn't show in algorithm. You understand most viewers don't have a UA-cam account nor are subbed. So it wouldn't get pushed to them.
I couldn't watch it on the TV app because is said age restricted. I could on my phone though 🤷
What was it ??
@@rory.wilkes5132 Just better footage of the fighting.
Fr UA-cam is becoming soft
There is more people standing recording on their phones than actually taking part 😂😂 2024 people
Great video Ellis keep them going they get better and better every upload 🔥 🐐
From poshest club to most violent game - classic Platten
Pancake in a bag is crazy
it is.. british! not crazy. just british xD
The plywood over the shop windows reminds me of Florida, where I live. Either boarding up your windows for a hurricane or , in certain areas, you’ll see plywood up year round so other certain people can’t see inside your house.
Thank you for the (re)upload!
definitely need to get yourself up to Cumbria every easter in Workington for Uppies & Downies pal you'll love it..🤜🤜💥💥
Not only is this channel entertaining but very educational. Up the away days
What a family friendly video
I am sure you heard about Calcio Storico in Florence, would be nice to see you go there :)
Loving the content keep it up man
She was fit though!. Where do we find her sweetheart?🎉
Wow they did an exact identical copy of it all on the Wednesday aswell. That’s why it’s been uploaded twice
Top vid Ellis 👏
12:15 "local resident aka the former mayor" via ed chapman video
A geniune quote from a guy i played uni rugby with ":
My dad was a legend he held the ball for nearly 3 minutes early on.
Tbf the guy was a beast at keeping the ball
Wow that is amazing it’s the first time I’ve heard of this game
I would also recommend you go the the Ashbourne Ball Game too in Derbyshire on ash Wednesday
Love this. And im located near atherstone and love the ball games uniqueness
You need to check out Calcio Storico in Florence, definitely more dangerous but it is at least contained in a pitch. Its absolutely insane, also has the no murdering rule
Search uppies and downies… another ball game in Cumbria in the UK. Very similar concept that goes on over the Easter period… worth a watch for the experience!!
This question begs to be answered, who in the hell thought this was a good idea way back when and how did this start? LOL. Very British and very entertaining to watch. Thanks Ellis, glad you and Ed didn't get trampled!!
Video aside (and it was a good one), I’m a big fan of the “Ciao ciao. Bye!” sign off. Very James Richardson!
This is insane. Would never take part. But fun to watch.
Can't wait for the wick academy video I support you for traveling to wick and back in two days
Got nothing on Ashbourne’s shrove tide, up’ards vs down’ards game
Top video Ellis
Ellis at some point you need to travel to Florence, Italy to watch the "Calcio Storico Fiorentino".
It's a violent variant of football that's taken place in Florence since the middle ages.
Should check out the Ashbourne one, goes on for 2 days.
Morning guys, was nice meeting you both at Elland Rd last Saturday
Re watched, thankfully Ed’s didn’t get taken down too 👍🏼
At least the one in Ashbourne they are actually trying to score
As you are planning on staying in England more for away days
A match at London oldest ground Clapton cfc
Sheffield fc the oldest football team in world
And perhaps a match in Scotland
Example Inverness or Nairn county 😊
You should go to the traditional calcio game in Florence!
You need to check calcio fiorentino, it’s another dangerous ball game that is played in Florence italy
This is AWESOME.
Plz do more ov these ❤
IT ONLY HAPPENS ONCE A YEAR
@@jamiecovfefe6323
There are 4 variations
of this type of game played in Europe.
This version, one in
Workington Cumbria
England , one in Florence Italy & one in Gorgia
The County not American State.
The one in Georgia is the most lawless & brutal it's played between rural villages & the field of play stretches over several kilometers over all sorts of
landscape marshes , woods, fields, valley's hills
the goal is to cary the extremely large ball
over your opponents
stream & land it on there
river bank it has zero set playing numbers the only thing that is not allowed is weapons. Everything else is fair game & people have died play this game from
time to time it's could
Lelo Burti Field Ball in English.
The Government have legally band the game but it is still played from time to time in rural Georgia.
The ball is merely the cherry or olive in the cocktail of violence 😂
One of the better football vloggers,
The Ashbourne one is bigger/better
That is one of the unique things that make England. We love a good scrap and pointless ball game. I say let the locals have it, it's all good fun. If they do try banning it the locals would still do it but it'll just become a scrap on the streets that aren't closed and no first aid attendance. It'll be a lot worse.
love you ellis
It’s mad how you come to where I live 😂
Lee Cattermole mentioned 😍😂
watched the original but i guess i gotta watch it again to support our boy
They should do this in Brixton
goes to a townwide scrap spent half the time eating 😂😂
Please come to a pompey game as we are in amazing form
Ed carries that cap off with aplomb....
Ahh I can watch it now 😂
ive lived in atherstone my entire life and never seen that mural at 2:05 before, where even is that
Giving this version a watch to help Ellis’ bank account
This is naff compared to uppies and downies, held 3 games every year over easter. 2 sides of the town go to war with a goal at either end of the town. The only rule is there are no rules
I feel like this should be done during the summer
Ed is actually so funny 😂😂
Who's Ed his mum
you should look into calcio storico in italy
You should go to Florence for Calcio storico fiorentino
the indomitable human spirit
You should check out calcio storico in Florence… I’d argue it’s more intense than this
Waiting for Ellis to go cheese rolling next. ;)
You should Watch nrk’s coverage of this. ‘Helt Ramme Sporter’
If you visit Greece (olympiacos vs panathinaikos ) you will watch a real derby
Cant believe you came here! I was going to go down for the ball game aswell but i was working
wtf 😂 I’m going next year to watch 😂
The reason for the pancakes is because traditionally Christians are supposed to give up dairy/fats (butter) for Lent (the 40 days from Ash Wednesday to Easter), so making pancakes is a good way to use up those ingredients beforehand!
Nowt on Sedgefield ball game
Real
Scarface🤣🤣🤣
8:50 on the left 🥶🥶
It’s back!
Remember last year it was carnage
Thank God Ellis didn't get involved in the match, giving everyone else a chance at winning
Hahah yes lad
this is peak hooliganism 🤣, but why on pancake day?
You should do now is return and watch Atherton real football club play
I feel like only Ellis in a Besiktas shirt would satisfy my confused body.
All 6ft7 of him. *Shudder* 😍
Hope u aint lost her by going to Warwickshire when u dont want to?❤
great vid Ellis. Up the AD’s. up the gafknee. up the pancakes you had for lunch
Do you like lasagne? You should do a video about lasagne.
Next, calcio storico in Italy. That'll be wild lol.
That was fully what I was expecting when seeing this title. Hugely disappointed...
I think I’ve seen this film before
I live in that town 😊
If only you did a little bit of research you would have known that the ribbons on the ball are worth money and that's why people fight for the ball from the start
Shrove Tuesday is just English Mardi Gras
Note the spelling of Atherstone at the start few seconds in
You clearly haven’t been to a calcio game in Florence yet 😂
Liked and comment
nah deffo should wolves vs baggies
I'd love to see you look into East German football, particular the teams that were in the old top division before reunification of Germany. Recently read a book called the The Turning Season on the subject. Really interesting.

Try this UA-cam
Channel, it has tuns on
East German football.
If that's what you are looking for you will find it there.
I used to watch the Channel, but the
You Tuber has not uploaded for a long time now.
