z8 has specs of z9, which was released in 2021. It's 3 years of technology advancement, so yes r5mk2 is better. Should you switch to Canon? it's up to you. When z9/z8 mk2 is released it will be better than r5mk2. I use z8 and I'm not going anywhere.

To end this wall of text, the reason I claimed it was user problem is that the Nikon AF has a lot more quirks and weird customizations that you dont see on sony or canon, the last 2 are much more straightforward regarding shooting and AF. Now if its not a user error on your side how were you getting out of focus images assuming you had dialed the proper settings for whatever you were shooting? From shooting sports, birds, events and landscapes the only time I might get an out of focus image is when im doing macro with long exposures and I accidently touch the camera/tripo or wind introduces slight movement. Other than this I'm able to shoot in focus images reliably with a z8,z9 , R5 mk1 , and A7S3 so I really wonder what the hell are you doing
To me its just silly to make these sorts of comparison. Their lenses in terms of manufacturing and coatings differs as well. Regardless of which evosystem you choose, either one is great in its own right. For me, the Nikkor colour science is my preferred lens. For the Z8, there's no telling if Nikon will begin incorporate some RED features? Across the spectrum, Canon's prices for body and lens have shot up tremendously over the past 3 years

This video lost my attention at around the 4 minute mark. None of the topic points actually matter in the field. I would be more concerned about auto focus if I was shooting stills. No one and I mean NO ONE cares about 240 at HD res. I have that option on my Monstro, and I never use it in a professional setting. With companies such as TOPAZ labs available as post 3rd party options, 240 HD is completely irrelevant at this point in time.

Pros use these cameras everyday without crying that it's an issue so of it works for them then it would be user error if you can't. I was using Z8 for a year and now I use R5 MK2, Canon Eye AF is so much more reliable. Finally i don't have to check if photos are in focus
True. Even with my new z6iii, I'm constantly checking in the picture I took was finally in focus or not :(

Vary important also choice of lenses - for me as a wildlife photografer Nikon has better choice.

Eye controlled AF was there in EOS 5 cameras....so it's not a new innovation. All are just making noise to sell their products.
