I'm a single user & love having the bike & guide. I have a non-pelo treadmill b/c I really like the Tread classes but it was just too expensive for me to buy. I'm happy with my current setup and it seems to be working out for me right now.
Great review! I’ve got a Peloton-centric gym with the Rower, Bike+, and Tread+. I recently sold my Peloton Tread to make room for the Tread+. I don’t have the guide, nor the need for it, but I use Peloton from my Fire Stick so I can do strength exercises while keeping track of the metrics. The content is the selling point for me. Yes, the equipment and the subscription are pricey, but I view it as an investment and what I do with my money is my choice (as it is for anyone else). I use it daily and have for the last 3 years. For the amount of use I put in, I’m actually getting a great deal. Bottom line, any user should find what’s best for them and get what makes them comfortable. For me, it’s Peloton. For others, it may not be. The content has since changed, so your wish to use Netflix and UA-cam while working out is now granted.
Fantastic comment! Could not agree more. So important to invest in your health and find what works for you. May be Peloton or something completely different. Glad you found the setup that works for you!
The convenience of rolling out of bed and going straight to the gym makes the peloton stuff worth it for us. I am a little surprised you didn’t like the strength classes on the guide, Adrian and Ben have some amazing content that I feel make it tough for even those experienced lifters.
I hope I did not come off that way. I think the guide is great. My point is if you want a machine with higher resistance settings, Peloton does not have something like that. But Guide is great.
Nice honest review. When someone spends as much as you have on your Peloton equipment the easy thing is to justify (I have the Bike+ and Tread) and always tell everyone how much you love it To me the way to go is like you said, have one of the units and then build out a training space with Tonal or a Functional Trainer for the same price as the Rower would be. Also agree though that having two separate subscriptions like Tonal and Peloton gets expensive and not worth it.
Thank you Andrew! I try to be as honest as possible and build my videos out in a way that they help people make the best decision for themselves. It will be interesting to see what happens in the new few years as I could see this spacing changing a lot!
Thanks Travis! Catching up on your videos…as always, great info. I agree, the rower is too pricey, but I definitely want to add a rower to our home gym! Just glad I have some time before I have to make any definite decisions, and that you keep putting out all the great reviews, so I can make my choices when it’s time!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I agree, more scenic rides, I really enjoy them. I have the Peloton bike, I have free weights and a regular treadmill. I can get a good workout with what I have got. I definitely do not want to buy Peloton everything though.
Seems to me if you want the Peloton rower but you are waiting for it to come down in price, the no brainer is to get a Concept 2 rower for $1,000 and then sell it when the Peloton rower hits the price point you want. You can sell a C2 rower almost instantly for 80% of what you pay for it. Seriously, it may not last a week after you put it on sale. Of course, you may end up deciding to keep the C2, as it is about as close to perfect as cardio equipment gets.
Thanks for the content! All great points. Fyi i just read that the Guide price has been permanently reduced to $195. I may have to pick one up now to add to my Bike, Tread, and Row setup!
My pleasure and thank you! I had not heard that but that is awesome! If you are looking for a solid, motivational, resistance option without getting some huge machine or weight set it is a really nice option. Specially if you already know if you enjoy how Peloton does things. Nice setup by the way!
Great video. I think it depends how much you’re into fitness and working out. Peloton is great to get you into the habit of working out. But if you’re a long time subscriber, 2 years, 5 years, 10 years … what the hell are you doing? It’s like taking piano lessons and only playing the piano when your teacher is around. Time to break away from them. They gave you the tools and power , the drive to get you going, to want to do that workout. It’s in you now. There’s no need to pay somebody for so many years so you can do your workouts. But this is what these companies want you to do. Just get up and do it. You don’t need them forever. Get a bike like Keiser M3i for example. Hop on it and do your thing. Feel like taking a class once in a while ? Get the app and use it with your tablet or phone , short term. Cheaper and you’re not locked in a system. Another bike worth buying is Rogue Echo or Concept 2 Ergbike. But if you want the bikes of all bikes. Get the Kickr Bike Smart Bike.
Thanks for the video does the peloton classes have the soul bike classes that I'm seeing online ? if so, may consider buying the Peloton bike. If not , do you know what offers the soul cycle online classes as I love to spin to loud music with a beat . Thanks
Appreciate the review. I was an OTF member for 4 years until COVID and then I purchased a Hydrow for 2k. My wife insisted on getting the Peleton Treadmill as she didn't enjoy rowing. Well...she never used it. I actually LOVE the tread and use it often and really got into the Yoga as well. Our tread came with 2 sets of dumbells for strength training but that is not enough. What dumbells do you suggest I purchase for the strength classes? Is the Guide worthwhile or is it sufficient to use the app on the tv? I have too much money invested in connected equipment to ever go back to OTF so I have to make this work. Thanks
Hey Peter! So glad to hear the choices have worked out so well. I think the Guide is a great option if you like Peloton structured exercise programing and want some guidance. As you are already paying the Peloton monthly fee, the price is not much and you get to add a lot to your gym experience for little cost. Now, on the dumbbells side, this sort of depends on how you want to work out and what your resistance training goals are. I will say, having 3 or 4 sets of dumbbells right in front of you make it easy to flow through the exercises and just grab the one you want. On the other side, if you want to really push yourself and try to put on some muscles, it takes away from the flow a little (use voice control to pause while you get next dumbbell) but I really like adjustable dumbbells. I have tested a couple modes and like both of them. They take up little space but give you all sorts of weights to work with. Hope that helps!
Hi there. I love your vids but I haven’t watched you for a year or two - sorry. I ended up getting a peloton bike (the original version) and have loved it. I still use it most days. Also I had a few probs with one of them and peloton immediately replaced the whole bike free of charge for a new one. Just to let people know it really helped me get fit. Now I also enjoy hiking, backpacking, mountain biking and skiing and I’m sure I never would have if I hadn’t of started this fitness journey as I was too embarrassed to go out before and wasn’t fit enough. I have also lost about 50 pounds (but also count every calorie too now).
Thank you so much and I love this comment! It is great to hear how the work you did on Peloton opened up other options you would have not have considered! Congrats on your results as well!
Great video. I was looking at the Peloton Row along with the Ergatta and Hydrow. Since you wouldn’t buy the Peloton Row, what’s your choice for a rower?
Thank you. Of those rowers, I would go with the Ergatta. I like the water row style, but more importantly I am motivated by competition and more of a game style versus instructor led. If this may be you, I would suggest the Ergatta. Ergatta Review: ua-cam.com/video/8jwLDG3Zts4/v-deo.html Ergatta VS Aviron: ua-cam.com/video/Gi6p9mQR468/v-deo.html
to people without money. u just need a pair of good running shoes, 2 dumbells, and 2 rubber bands to support your weight on pull ups and 1 matt and when you dont have a pull up bar outside, also that one.
Travis you should do a video questioning... ...if you could to do it again, would you have been better off buying a cheap bike / equipments like Joroto and paying $13 a month on the Peloton App... .... Or would spending all that money on those Peloton equipments plus the $44/month membership really worth it than being cheap.
Hey Travis, Love the videos! I have a Tonal and Peloton Bike and I use both almost daily. Thinking about adding the Peloton rower. In your opinion would you think it’s worth it or would it be redundant with the tonal?
Thank you so much Brian! I don't think it is redundant. It is a different type of muscle targeting. Where Tonal is through resistance and tension, the Row is more of a cardio targeting. I don't know if that makes sense. You are engaging a lot of muscles but for longer durations at lighter resistance compared to shorter durations but high resistance like on the Tonal. It is a nice "in the middle" option of full cardio of the bike and full resistance training of the Tonal. Hope that helps!
Personally, for intensity, I like rowing. It engages more muscles while also getting the cardio really going. I struggle to row for long periods of time and find bike/tread better if I am looking for a 30 plus minute cardio session. So sort of depends on how you use it but hope that helps!
@@Learnwithtravis yes I feel the same way.. I want to like and use the rower because it's involving more muscle groups but I know I am gassed after 10 minutes, but I know I can use a treadmill much longer than a rower.
It is a tough decision! That is why some people get both because they complement each other. But both can be solid options depending what type / duration of cardio you want.
Does any other brand have something similar? Bike, rower, guide, tread as a whole system? Have the peloton bike+ but not sure if i want to invest in this or if there are any better alternatives.
Not that I am aware of. I think a lot may change in the next 2 or 3 years but Peloton seems to be the option for that. Actually, I guess NordicTrack (iFIT) has an offering like that.
I would def buy peloton bike again!!! I have friends that cheaper out and got the bow flex etc. They have to set up their iPad etc. With Peloton you just switch on tap a class and go!!!! It’s brilliant!! ❤
Good point but honestly, it does not exist. I personally think it will in a few years. I don’t like paying multiple subscription fees and most connected fitness companies only have one product. I think you will see companies merge or expand to have more complete offerings in the near future. But as of right now, probably Peloton Bike and Tonal. Or Tonal and preferred cardio option. (I really like the Tonal)
@@Learnwithtravis you don't have to always continuously have a subscription under one platform. You can always subscribe to Peloton for a few months then decide to unsubscribe and say subscribe to Tonal for a different month

For me, if they included Tonal into the ecosystem, it’d be 1000000% worth it. The lack of a purely dedicated strength option is what keeps me at bay.
