My favorite memory of crash bandicoot was seeing it as an unaccsessible game, as it was available in the arcade near my house, it was always being played by bigger dudes... I would still amaze at the colourful gameplay
Pedro Viloria nice, I remember playing crash 3 in my uncles electronics shop in the late 90's soon after it came out the Great Wall of china tiger riding levels blew my young mind
Really well made video! I'm a huge longtime fan of Crash Bandicoot. I remember the first time experiencing Crash. It was actually on a demo disc. A playable version of the second level from the first game. Jungle Rollers, I believe it was called. I pretty much instantly took a liking to the Australian furball. His wild and zany nature made him seem like he just lept out of a classic MGM cartoon, which I really dug.
My first game I ever played on the ps1 in the mid 90's the legendary crash bandicoot, in my opinion the n sane trilogy is the best remaster so far. Especially because of the decision to change the save function in the fist game so you could save anytime you wanted instead of only after boss fights. Crash Team Racing:refuelled coming this June as well CHILDHOOD REVISITED.
Exceptionally well made video. Shared this on my Twitter. The cliche’ line of this deserves more views is appropriate here. Hope this video gains the success it deserves.
Watching the video with the quality time and effort you put into it i thought you would have had a couple of thousand if not maybe 100k> subs, you did some absolutely amazing work here and should 100% keep it up. You got everything perfect the facts and trivia, presentation in terms of audio and video and a great speaking voice. Amazing work
The Crash Bandicoot tetralogy looks so good that I would even dare to say that they are the only fifth generation games that look like the next. Naughty Dog was always characterized by achieving graphics ahead of its time.
3:39 thats not a conspiracy, theres a very in depth interview by Ars Technica on Crash and creator literally tells us that he DID get somw secret documentation from Sony that actually helped them to offload the vector transformations from the CPU, thus freeing crucial CPU time.
Goddamn great video. I loved it to pieces. However, how do you explain that, for instance, Crash 3 was leaps and bounds better than Crash 1, despite running on the same PS1 ? Thanks again!
It's got a lot to do with the evolution of development - As you develop more games, the tools that you develop will be made more powerful, and the techniques you discover will become more optimal. For example, Spyro The Dragon uses a technique called Level-of-Detail (LOD) to render things far away, that was not used in Crash Bandicoot. Naughty Dog could then develop tools and engine improvements that allowed them to do that, and use it in their next game.
The story about Wuzzy/The Wombat character isn't quite true, Naughty Dog didn't want this character at all and it was all the work of the marketing team at Universal, who they had to fight to get the character where they wanted. And also in response to the comments about the 3D and 2D levels, not quite. All levels are treated the same however they stated that their formula was simply to take away 1 axis at any time, whether that be X or Y.
@@crashfan9997 no... he definitely doesn't say "bits" and what would that even mean? "the playstation drive is only rated for seventy thousand bits?" HUH? It's a 2X drive, that's 300K per second in mode1 I think it may refer to the disc drive mechanically being rated to withstand 70000 seeks while still performing acceptably or something like that. But that sounds really poor... then again, the first generation drives were infamously prone to die out of mechanical wear, so... maybe that's what he's talking about. If it is, he should had made that clearer.
It sucks that this guy has not been uploading on UA-cam, this was so good.

Squeezing Crash Bandicoot into the PS1 and making Jak & Daxter load screen free. Naughty Dog are pure genius.

6:40 ...is only rated for seventy thousand... WHAT? did you say "hits"? what does that even mean?
He meant bits as in data
